I would love to see it happen, so "the cheater" isn't in the record books for most homers in a season. Go albert!

I really hope so. It would be just another record which Bonds would not hold anymore, plus he is almost single handedly carrying my fantasy team. Go Albert!

he'll hit a ton, but not enough to break the record. He will be considered one of the greatest hitters of the era when all is said and done though.

I think there's a good chance Pujols hit #714 before Bonds.

Pujols won't do it. As much as I hate the intentional walk, he should be walked just about everytime he comes up to the plate.

Nobody here is suspicious of Pujols at all? I am too skeptical of any HR records that fall these days and I WANT to love Pujols. I really do. He's tremendous and very classy. After reading Game of Shadows though I don't feel like anyone is clean anymore... except I double-standardly give most of the Red Sox the benefit of the doubt, but Manny and Papi are hitting what good HR hitters have always hit... 40+ HR is a great season. 20 HR halfway through May is suspicious.

OR, he could be the best hitter who has ever lived... which is also a real possibility.

I think he hits #756 before Hank Aaron does. In other words I think Albert has a chance to break Aaron's record. If he can stay relatively healthy throughout his career with minor set-backs he has a great chance to be the best home-run hitter of all time. I guess if there was anyone worthy (and there are very few) I wouldn't mind Pujols getting the honor.

Albert Pujols through May 13 has clubbed his baseball leading 19th HR. Summer is right around the corner and his new ballpark is being considered by many as a hitter's park. Could he have a chance of unseating Bonds' record?

In the history of the game no one other than a few cheaters have hit more than 61. If he gets 62, he should be considered the recordholder.

I agree. If he stays healthy and decides not to bow out early like some greats have in the past, he'll pass Hank Aaron -- however, A-Rod may already have done that at that point. I think, though, that Pujols will end his career as the all-time homeruns leader. And if he must do it as a Cardinal, I hope he's wearing one of them sweet light blue throwbacks when he does!

If he stays healthy I think it's possible, but without the help of steroids or other performance enhancing drugs the body breaks down as the season goes on. Staying on a pace like this is almost impossible. Remember that the highest HR total by a non-cheater is only 61.

Manny and Ortiz aren't hitting at the rate that Puljols is. I am alittle suspicious of Puljols. First off, no way is this guy 26. Secondly, 19 HR? Jesus. I don't know. I think he's got some potent and hard to detect steroid. I hope I never have to find out about it though. I love Puljols.

Doubtful. Pujols hasn't hit below .300 in his professional career. Other than Bonds, he's probably the best hitter of the last 20 years.

Not bad for a guy that was a 13th round draft pick back in 1999.

Is there anyone else that, although dissapointing, would be less pissed if Pujols used 'roids than they are that Bonds did? I'm not suggesting Pujols is, I'm just saying if it were to come out, what would everyone think? I just hate Bonds so freaking much.

Why can't he be 26? I don't get it. We've seen freakish athletes and talents before, and we will again. I really hope he is 26, and continues his assault on National League pitching...it's way too early to say, but I feel a little bit more comfortable with Bonds approaching the Babe and Hank with Pujols and ARod waiting in the wings. Anyone with me?

I hate ARod as much as the next guy because he plays for the Yankees...but I mean, we can't fault him for not coming to Boston. He was willing to take a paycut to play for a winning team (Boston) and it was the players union who vetoed that. I hate him because he's a Yankee and because of the whole Tek thing...but I'd much rather him go after the record than Bonds.

I've said for a few years that if Bonds breaks the 755, he won't have it long. Pujols and A-Rod (as much as I hate A-Rod) will break whatever Bonds gets to. They are too good. And why can't a guy be clean? Just because one dudes a tard and juices, doesn't mean they all do.
