i also heard at a State Radio concert last friday the crowd had a Yankees Suck chant going

I started one last season at a Pirates/Cardinals game at PNC and it caught on pretty well.

Actually it was because of that. There were Pirates and Cardinals fans and two Yankees fans, plus me. We all got sick of them yelling stuff about my hat so I started the chant until they got up and moved.

Haven't the Yankees spent over a billion dollars on payroll since there last title. Riv I wouldn't talk because the Yankees haven't backed up anything lately.

 

The thing is, since their last title, the Yankees have spent 1 billion on payroll and banked 5 billion in profits since their last title. The Yankees are spending like a drunken sailor because they can, I mean they are putting up a new 300 million dollar stadium within the next few years!!

 

It is quite obvious that spending all the money in the world will never buy world championships, but the Yankees have an endless source of money because of all the fans they have. The yankees will always put a 150 million + team on the field until it there is a cap.

Maybe that's why you hate them, but don't project that on to everyone else. I just call it like I see it, and every Yankees Suck chant I've seen was in response to a prick Yankee fan. IMO, Yankee fans have just as much to do with the disdain fans of other teams have for them as Yankee success does. I mean, there are very few fans alive who had to watch every one of the Yankee's 26 championships, but everyone is reminded of them in the presence of a Yankee fan.

I mean, I've been to Mets-Braves games at shea and Yankee fans were being pricks, no Yankees suck chant, I've been to Yankees games where blue jays fans were being priks, no chant, all and all, chants don't mean anything in this league. And the only 2 chants I ever took part in were the Roll Call and 'Whos your Daddy?'....I don't mind the chants, I mean, I can bearley hear them when I'm watchi9ng it on TV, and I know their not going to say it at Yankee stadium, so I got nothing to worry about, becuase chants don't bother me...Well, one chant bothers me and thats 'Whos you Papi?', but thats another argument for anothr time, and I just don't wanna get into it.

As a diehard Sox fan I will say this...I HATE the chant. It's stupid. It's insulting to the intelligence of REAL Sox fans. For krist sake, how does a team that has more historical success than any other SUCK?

 

Wanna say Giambi is a juicer? ok. AROD is poser and a primadonna? fine. Sheffield is a lieing sack of s***? great. Joe Torre picks his nose? fantastic. All of these are supported in fact.

I'm saying this because I'm sick of all the homeristic comments made by many Sox fans that just because of 2004 that the Yankees history as 26 time World Champions goes obsolete, and becomes disregarded. The name of the game is to win it all, and despite of the Yankees failing for 5 years and counting, they've made two World Series appearances, won two A.L Pennants, made the postseason and won the division every year during this five year interval. It's not like they've been in the basement. All I'm saying is people who cannot concede this notion are morons and ultimate homers, and no, just because I concede this notion as a Red Sox fan doesn't make me a Yankee fan. I agree...however i do have to add that it doesnt really matter what sporting event your at in boston that chant can get started at anytime....i was at a bruins game were it got started..and my boyfriend is really into wrestling and we went to a show and it got started there before the show...but it is just a chant...you can join in or not...just dont let it bother you

Pedro put his foot in his mouth with that comment, and Yankees fans took the freebie and ran with it. Unfortunately for Yankee fans, David Ortiz, aka George Steinbrenner Jr because he owns the Yankees, became the biggest killer for either side and Sox fans made a play on the Yankee chant. That is wit, but you don't get that.

 

BTW, quit it with the "we're innocent, we only did what the player said" crap. Yankee fans chanted "1918" with no prompting from Sox players for years and years before Pedro even came to Boston.

i think your looking way to much into it though...its just a chant between rivals....and most of the time it is started by all the drink guys...who at some point or another are too drunk to know what game they are at....the point is its just a chant some people enjoy it some think its stupid...personally it doesnt bother me ill join in sometimes sometimes i wont...it doesnt matter its only 2 words that people are letting them bother them way to much
