Boston common?

Interested: Red Sox?

May 4 - Shea Hillenbrand hopes to return to play with the Red Sox one day, the Boston Herald reports. "There's a lot of history with me here [Fenway Park], a lot of stuff with me and it hasn't been the easiest for me playing here since I left since I have so much passion for playing in Boston," Hillenbrand told the newspaper. "There's nothing like Boston. I grew up here as a baseball player. They taught me how to play the game."

Dude has been around long enough to know you don't say that kind of stuff while under contract to another team. Imagine if a pop star ever pulled this with their record labels?

He's better than the dipshit he was traded away for, dont' forget how kim had the balls to flip off the crowd, A real class act, I'd take shea back in a heartbeat

He called Theo a faggot on his way out, throw in the fact that he never walks. That basically means, you'll never see Hillenbrand in a Red Sox uniform.

I know he was bitter when he left, but did he really say that? Did he say it to his face or in the press?

Radio. His exact words were, "trade me now, faggot."

Absolutely correct. He is a perfect example of exactly what the sox DONT want. If you remember back, Theo was never a fan of Nomar for the same reason. Sox look for guys with high OB% and the ability to work the count. They would never pay a player the money Shea makes to go up and hack away. Plus, where do they play him? certainly not 3B unless Toronto decides they want a 3B making 9 million dollars to back up an Allstar in Glaus, and certainly not 1B where they already have the prototypical RedSox type hitter (low money, high OB%).

I liked him when he is here but unfortunatly we don't need him at third or first. although i heard that Youk might be traded.

EDIT:I just added a sentence

I was glad when you guys traded him. For 2 reasons. A) He was a pretty good hitter and I was happy to have his bat out of the lineup, and B ) You guys got BK.

Unfortunately, now looking back I wish you guys would have kept him. If you had, perhaps Ortiz isnt the player he is today. Damnit!

BK helped us make the playoffs in 03. Grady overused him, and when he started to suffer from over-use he didnt have the make-up to hang with it in Boston. So seeing as we got to keep Yankee Killer Bill Mueller and Ortiz while also saving the 03 bullpen, great deal.

Yeah I've seen him play here in Toronto the odd time and he's a really good guy he's a class act and I think he would fit in well with the Red Sox but I don't see that happening anytime soon. If it was too I would say it would be in the last year of his career or something.

Anyone who can take Mo deep is okay with me. There are not too many guys that can do that.

Then just bring Billy mueller back.

I fine with Lowell, thank you very much

I was joking about how he went yard with Mo too. I love Mikey Lowell, he is my favorite player.

the problem with hillenbrand when he was with us, the first 2 months he would be on fire and then the rest of the season he would suck

Don't be surprised if Lowell is that way either. This guy has never hit for average like this, and he has also usually had more HRs than this, so maybe he has transformed into something else, who knows....

And just so none of you think I never was 'Generous" Sheas career OBP is .330

Since we just spent 23 posts without anyone doing the actual footwork Im your man..

That's neat Goalstopper. Youk is having a good year and someone hears he might be traded. Whoever said such a thing, especially if it came from the front office, ought to have his ass kicked from here to Kenmore Square. Youk should have been in the lineup last year; if he had we would have won the division. As for Shea, the guy can flat out hit. It depends if enough time has elapsed and whether Theo would take him back. He took Seanez back and if that isn't an unpleasant kick in the ass I don't know what is.

My gripe about the Hillenbrand trade is why couldn't we get something better than the piece of trash we got for him? Kim was as useless as tits on a bull and his flipping the fans off was really a PR disaster. I hope Theo never makes a trade like that again.

I actually figured his batting average would go up compared to what it was in Florida. Hitting at Fenway would only help him in that aspect but HRs are not easy to hit over the Green Monster. He doesn't get his ball elevated enough and all he does is pull the ball. Makes perfect sense he has a lot of doubles but I would expect him to hit more HRs on the road.
