So I'm a die hard Sox fan living in NY, where I don't get NESN with my basic cable package, I've gotta drop $160 a year for the Extra Innings Package for that...but I am the receipient of the YES Network. Because of this, I watch pretty much every single Yankee game. And, well, I had decided previously, I think it was during a Yankee/BoSox game actually...that Suzyn Waldman was the most annoying human being on the planet. I decided if I could punch any one baseball personality in the face, it would be her. (Although I actually found it hard to consider her a baseball personality) But anyways...I've noticed the rest of the annoying things about Yankee games are back this year (namely, Yankee fans as a whole, and Michael Kay calling ARod "Alex Rodgereegez")...but no Suzyn Waldman.

Why is this? Did you guys kick her out? I can't imagine that her tenure on YES wasn't met with a public outcry from Yankee fans, because I feel that even they could recognize that she was a talentless, unattractive, not to mention incredibly baseball-ignorant female. (I don't have enough fingers and toes to count how many times she said 'boy there's no shortage of history between these two teams' and 'boy, there's no love lost between these guys' during any given BoSox/Yankees contest)

I pretty much have never thanked the Yankees or Yankee fans for anything (maybe except compiling their current pitching staff :) ) but, if they were instrumental in seeing Suzyn Waldman out...you have done argueably the greatest deed ever for any reciepient of the YES Network and we whole-heartedly appreciate it. But I still hate you :) :) :)

Wow...I was going to say I'd be hard pressed to think of something more annoying then listening to Sterling call the game, but, I guess we've found it.
You're joking right? There were times where I tohught she was the only analyst worst listening to on the entire god damn team. I live in CT so I get YES too and I was DEVESTATED when she went to the radio (mostly because 95% of her psot game reports SLAMMED the Yankees), she was fearless and asked whatever question she wanted no matter how much it pissed of Joe or any of the Yankees for that matter. Ugh I was so dissapointed when she left.

And not only that, everybody in the organization respected her and answered the questions without an attitude or anything. Now you can tell, when Kim Jones (for those who dont know, she was waldman's replacement) asks Joe a question he doesnt like he gets nasty or something.

And YES is the best Regional Sports Network in the country...so all you haters can shut up!!!!!

She just has a very annoying voice, but her and Sterling are hoot on the radio. Waldman tries to be professional with her lisping annoying voice, and Sterling's affected baritone makes his homerism comical. They are particularly funny when the Yanks are getting spanked.

I despise Waldman with a passion. Unfortunately, the yankee games are pervaded with an idiot on both ends. Kay in the booth and Waldman on the radio. Sterling is ok with me....

Oh geez, 26-6. Do we need another YES vs. NESN argument? ;) I haven't seen enough of YES outside the Yankee games to make a judgement, but NESN's coverage of the Red Sox is by far superior of YES's coverage of the Yankees (pre-game show, game coverage, post-game show).

YES is an awesome network, I've gotta give it to them. I don't get NESN...I wish I did. On the Extra Innings package, they cut it away like .0002 seconds after the last out is recorded.

NESN has an hour pregame show and hour postgame show with tons of interviews and other stuff. I have seen the YES yankee coverage and there game coverage doesn't compete with NESN's. YES is a good network all around but in terms of game coverage doesn't come close to NESN.

Well, I'm glad to see that she was already vindicated. I went to school in upstate NY and routinely turned my radio on and my TV sound off. I would comment to my Yankee friends that I was amazed how big of a difference in quality there was between the TV broadcast and the radio, and expressed my wish that there was any quality differential like that for the Sox.

Yeah right, you're outta your mind

I think all of our Emmys tell a different story. Especially in a market with 4 Regional Sports Networks. NESN's only competition is FSN New England. The Yankees Pre-Game is great, but the BPTV show that they air as the first half of their hour-long pre-game coverage needs some work. So I have to give Pre-Game coverage to NESN. I think both the Post-Games are about equal. The YES in-game production is second to none IMO. We have the best camera-men in the business IMO. And then the networks in general, YES has way more Yankee-oriented programming than NESN has Red Sox programing. Granted, YES made a horrible mistake by deciding to add that show "Running" to their program schedule, but nothing is worse than Charlie Moore Outdoors and half that other s*** they put on up there in NESN. In my honest opinion, bias aside, I think YES is better.

But NESN is HBO compared to SNY. Like a caller on Mike and the Mad DOg earlier this week said, "It looks like they run that station from a High School AV room." Outside of METS games, not a very impressive network. Although I do like watching METS Weekly, they do a good job on that. But Ice Skating and the other s*** they put on is horrible.

Say what you want, but i'll take YES over NESN anyday. I'll even take MSG over NESN, but thats a different arguement.

When YES had Waldman doing the pre and post game shows, NESN couldnt touch us. Blame our decline on Kimberly Jones. However the Yankees Pre-Game Show is amazing, despite Kimberly Jones' presence.

...and for all you Kay haters, you SUCK! Michael Kay is the man!

Michael Kay sucks his own dick. Anybody who says "the Yankees can win this game, because, well, they are the Yankees" is an idiot. And he says or implies that all the time.

I do find him odd in that his HR call is the same for any team - if the Yankees hit one out he sounds like a smug dick, but when an opponent hits one out he sounds like he's an arrogant baseball snob. I'm surprised more Yankee fans don't hate that.

You're wrong. Kay is as critical towards the Yankees as anybody else, if not more because of the expectations. If you listened to him on a regular basis on YES and his radio show you would see how good a job he does putting his love for the Yankees growing up aside now that he is in his position. And of coarse his HR call is going to be more enthusiastic for Yankee Homers than opponents' homers. Jerry Remy and DOn Orsillo are the same way, i'm sure. In fact, I know.

I've never seen NESN so I couldn't compare the two... but I really like YES's coverage of the Yankees and the programming, for the most part.

Don Orsillo and the Rem-dawg are awesome. They always have their own fun in the booth while maintaining great commentary on the game. Haha, they both crack up at their own jokes and have friendly conversation which keeps a laidback part of their commentary afloat. I even laugh at their goofiness sometimes. I mean, at one point last night or 2 nights ago they were talking about how Orsillo sort of looks like Nick Cafardo  Hahahah seriously those 2 guys are hilarious.

NESN's pregame is far too long. I'll turn it on in and see the pregame and realize that there's still liek an hour untill first pitch. It sucks.

trust me, Kay rips the Yanks as much as anyone

I've watched both, and I prefer NESN far more than YES, and that I swear is my honest unbiased opinion. I just think Remdawg is far superior to the Yanks color commentator and Kay is just wicked annoying. I think the analysts NESN have in Eckersley and Rice are better than YES' but the postgame show has like 2 sets of extra inning programs which gets kinda boring.

Other than that, I think YES has Emmy's and we don't because we have like ll the outdoor s*** which drives me insane, and I could watch YES longer if needed because it's all about baseball. However I think both beat FOX's coverage just because Tim McCarver is HORRIBLE, i don't know how he got that job.

ZWell at least somebody enjoys that aspect of their commentary. I cant stand them. I was watching the game yesterday and I dont remember all of the details and who it was, btu they were mis-pronouncing guys names and said one guy played for a team he never played for, and it was just horrible IMO. I hate watching them. Granted, when he's serious, Jerry Remy is a good baseball man who I can listen to. Like during an interview or something. However, during a game I just cant stand him.

I think the analysts NESN have in Eckersley and Rice are

Eck and Rice dont do every game, correct? I only see them in there sometimes. I usually always see Tom Carron (sp), who I ABSOLUTELY hate and would love to find in an alley and beat his ass, and that guy from the Boston Globe (His name escapes me at the moment). I like Bob Lorenz, but I liked Fred Hickman MUCH better. However Bob Lorenz is GOD compared to Tom Carron. I dont care what anybody says. TC always has something negative to say about the Yankees regardless of who the Sox are playing that day, and he always has that smirk on his face. I just hate that guy!!!!!

But I love watching Lorenz on the pre and post game shows. Especially when David Justice, Bobby Murcer, or whoever else is a co-anchor. Great coverage.

michael kay could be the most annoying person in the yankee organization. When the sox are on YES i watch it in mute and but ont the radio broadcast he is so bad. Honestly he would blow A-rod if he asked him. RedSoxRooter was dead right with the home run call comment and somthine even worse is when a yankee hits a sahllow ball he acts like it has a shot at going out no matter what. And when the count is anything and 2 and a yankee picther is on the mound he startes his "he stuck em out" befor the pitch even gets to the plate and looks like an idiot when its a ball or the better makes contact. I can not stand Kay more then any other yankee broadcaster. Bottom line hes a jackass who would suck A-rod if the oppurtunity arose.

Of course Kay is annoying to you, you're a Red Sox fan. ANYONE that supports their own team will sound annoying. Watch the Yankees when the Red Sox are up on them. Kay probably sounds far less annoying. But, if you reverse the situation, Kay will sound annoying.

Is it possible Jerry Remy is providing a biased commentary aimed at the Red Sox fans? He'll probably alienate you, but that's expected.

Of course you do. You're part of the demographic they aim their program toward. If Fred Hickman says the Red Sox suck, you'd love it, no?

Basically, what I'm saying is that whatever your opinion is, it's invalid. Just because, it's way too biased to be considered seriously.

Not true. There are a ton of other announcers I don't mind (I usually get the home team's broadcasters with the Extra Innings package). Two announcer crews I really like - and I don't even know who they are - are the guys for Seattle and Baltimore (one is Palmer).

Even as far as the Yankees broadcasts, I don't mind Jim Kott one bit.

It's totally fine to be a little biased towards your team, but Kay just comes across as being the ultimate dildo.
