I have a feeling he doesn't get NESN down in Texas.

Ohh, well then i appologize!

As far as my thoughts for the game:

Coco - He looked great; had some good at bats and stellar plays in the field!

Loretta - Looked solid at 2nd and had some good ab's. he also looked to me like he will get under the skin of some pitchers--he takes a lot of pitches.

Papi - What else can you say; 3 hits including a HR

Manny - Manny being manny

Nixon - His walk really threw Millwood and started the influx of runs. He also looked good in the field

Tek - Looked locked-in at the plate and called a good game

Lowell - Had a couple nice ab's and a HR ---good start for him to keep the media off!

Youk - Still getting used to playing 1st as he took a grounder that was clearly Loretta's--- but overall he played well. went ofer at the plate, but had some tough called strikes (the HP ump was all over the place today)

A-gone - Solid in the field and at the plate with a couple opposite field hits

Shill - Looked solid and hit his spots almost every time he wanted. He should have pitched a shutout, but looked solid none the less

Paps - Looked solid and unhittable---good to see!

Foulke - I wish i could say something positive, so i will: it's only 1 game. Everything that he threw ended up over the middle of the plate and got hit hard. If it wasn't for a foul and a great catch by coco then we would have had a lot closer game! With that said it is still one game, and i am willing to give him some time to work it out!

Good game, and I am looking forward to tommorow with Wake!

Well, all I can say is....I'm damn happy baseball's back. And I'm damn excited for the late night Yanks @ A's too. I think I'll make a gamethread for that....

That'd be cool.

Roberto Petagine homers off Francisco Rodriquez in Seattle to pull the Mariners within one run in the 9th, 5-4, 1 down.

hey Hanley Ramirez got his first major league hit in his 1st AB of the season

Sweet. I really hope he does well.

I must say Schilling looked great and after a slow start the offense picked up. Foulke still a big question after the 9th he pitched today but after the 8th Papelbon pitched I have no issue with him closing if Foulke is still this shakey a month or so into this season. Also I was very impressed with Coco in center and on the bases.

dude, same avatar, soooo not cool

On anotehr note, great game overall, very convincing win, and Schilling beat a formidable Ranger's lineup with an ineffective spllitty so that's even better. Coco looked great out there in CF and decent at the plate, I have a lot of high hopes for this kid. Also it's good Lowell got HR, he says he needs some confidence and that should help him.

don't forget that Foulke got a very late start to his spring, give him to some to work out his kinks

He also had fluid injected into his knees and some not-so-small surgery.

Yeah, and Lowell was cooked too according to you. Credibility - DENIED!

one AB, one start, one game. Nice start, but hardly discrediting. Lets see how both are doing on May1....

He did have a small surgery. I saw the same type of surgery, it is rather cool, but not very invasive. As far as the fluid, RJ gets it too and it hasnt bothered him since....

Id say the game was great for us, it seems like we are ready. but my only concern is foulke needs to be on his top when it comes for chase for division or wild card. maybe if foulke is so bad, paps will be the reliever.

It hardly matters how they are doing come May, as I mention in another post. You will either prance around saying, "I told you so", if you are right, or you will just adjust the timeframe for your doom and gloom prediction if you are wrong, like you did with your Schilling prediction. One game/AB/start certainly isn't enough to discredit, but the way you have already changed your tune once it was proven wrong certainly is.

still, at the age that Schilling is at, most serious injuries are not recovered from, but rather are the beginning of the end. Expecting him back to 2004 form is expecting too much. I will throw one thing out there though. I expect him to throw a gem on opening day, just because he will muster up the guts to pitch on the big day, but by the end of the month he'll be mediocre...

here's my quote from the SI thread....

So, one game in Oakland hasn't ended either, and suddenly the Yankee lineup is the coming of the Messiah? Please.

I know, I am definitely being premature there, but I am excited just like you guys are.....
