Then close your ears to it. The media will get anyone to talk for coverage. And Damon just happens to want to talk now. So what? You're not going to get him to shut up. I'm sure we all would like him to shut up, but it's not going to happen. Just don't pay attention to him if you don't wanna put up with his idiocy.

Ya gotta ignore it jsinger121. Everyone wants and interview with Damon now.

It's a hot topic for the media.

He's a MFY now so he's gonna act like one. He's learning he likes the lifesyle that his wife has wanted all along.

I don't wanna see him hurt and I'm still on the fence with my feelings towards him, but I can't just turn and hate the guy. I may be pissed for him going to the MFY's but he did it and it's over.

I agree he needs to stop talking about the Red Sox now.

Why would you want him to shut up? All this is gonna do is cause problems for the Yankees.

Johnny by all means ... KEEP TALKING!

You also have to take into account the media factor here...

The papers aren't going to be putting out articles where Damon talks about how he's excited to be on the Yankees, every player who has just joined a team says things like that. It's boring and, most of the time, fake.

Quotes about his old team are obviously, in the minds of the reporters, going to be much more newsworthy.

Also, take your own advice. Get over this.

i didnt have anything to get over cause he is 30+ and will only decrease in skills as he gets older, and obviously i was confident that our FO would get a younger player to replace damon and would be on this team for years to come .

just cause we mention his name doesn't mean we're not 'over it.'

Sure. Whatever you say

Anyways, I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about the poster who has decided to wish major injuries on a guy for simply looking out for his own interests and those of his family.

Johnny who? Who are you guys referring to?

Ohhhhhh....the media whore who went for the $$$ and is now going to play CF for the MFY....thanks for the memories etc etc etc.....good luck Mr. D.....or not....

Did you see this article in the NY Times, where Damon says that Manny would be a good fit for the Yanks. He says we would be able to "relax", unlike with the Sox or the Mets.

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/01/sports/baseball/01damon.html?pagewanted=all

Is he on drugs? Does he think we would ever trade Manny to the Yanks? Why don't we send them Schilling and Beckett while we are at it?

Umm...he was kidding

Oh, right, he needed to put food on the table.

Oh, right, he needed to put food on the table.

Simple math.

$52 million > $40 million

$52 million is going to go further than $40 million. This deal was definitely better for him and his family, on an economic level; that's not an even issue.

I'll take the latter

Like he needs the money.

Whatever, I'm not going to whine. I'd rather have a young, cheap Crisp just coming into his prime than an old, overpaid Damon exiting his prime.

Like he needs the money.

It's not a matter of if he needs it. Also you don't know if he does; when you get a big contract relatives and friends pop up (in addition to taxes, the money he's paying those that work for him, etc.) and money finds a way of dissapearing...in a hurry. An extra $12 million is always a nice safety net.

I mean..find me a person who would, seriously, turn down $12 million.

I NEVER thought Damon would leave...after the trade, Youk said something like, " I thought he was going to the Angels" Money was the bottom line...hope you are happy Mr. D.

I could have handled the Angels but the MFY???? And all the "We" s*** during his press conference.....he's pretty much dead to me as he went straight to the MFY....

Enjoy your robot status w/ the MFY!

I love how signing with the Yankees cancels out being a big part of a team which ended the 86 year drought of rings in Boston.

Shows the priorities of a few are a bit skewed, at least in my opinion.

Going to the MFY's was bad enough...dining with A-rod...and hightlighting his hair..he's a MFY now.

All the way!!

as i say again, you havent had that much long tenured yankees (4 years or more) sign with the Red Sox. So you really dont know how it feels.

I hear ya and what pissed me off more was that NO ONE was talking about the MFY until that trade happened.....now their starting rotation is better? Give me a break....good luck hitting your way to the play offs......

Enrique Wilson, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 is now a Red Sox...and it hurts :(

But um...seriously, you cant say that. I dont know if you recall but you guys do have a guy named David Wells on your team. And if most of you guys were fans back in 2001 (Dont think I can say that for all here) you would remember a guy by the name of David Cone wearing a Red Sox uniform. So dont say we dont know how it feels.

yanks fans would have been pissed had petitte left the yanks for the red sox when he was a free agent. enrique wilson doesn't count because he is not a great player. he is hardly a name
