I hear ya and what pissed me off more was that NO ONE was talking about the MFY until that trade happened.....now their starting rotation is better? Give me a break....good luck hitting your way to the play offs......

1) He wasn't traded. He was signed as a free agent. (Sorry, I'm a perfectionist and easily bugged by those kinds of things. )

2) Yes, our starting rotation is definitely going to be better in 2006. Mainly because...there isn't anywhere to go but up. Anyways, this thread is about Damon and not the Yankee's pitching...let's not get off topic.

yanks fans would have been pissed had petitte left the yanks for the red sox when he was a free agent. enrique wilson doesn't count because he is not a great player. he is hardly a name

I liked Enrique.:(

Enrique Wilson, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 is now a Red Sox...and it hurts :(

But um...seriously, you cant say that. I dont know if you recall but you guys do have a guy named David Wells on your team. And if most of you guys were fans back in 2001 (Dont think I can say that for all here) you would remember a guy by the name of David Cone wearing a Red Sox uniform. So dont say we dont know how it feels.

Who has gone straight from the Sox to the MFY in recent memory and vice versa? I mean a player that matters?

Okay, what would you guys do if Derek Jeter took 12 extra million and signed with the Sox after saying he would never play for the Sox?

Go onto a message board and complain about his age, say he's on the decline, and we'll be better off without him. (I don't know where I'd learn to do this...)

So the fact that he wasnt a great player means he doesnt count?? Hes a better player than you!!

And Pettitte wouldnt have left for the SOx, in fact, the Sox offered him more than Houston did but he said somethign along the lines of "I could never do that to the people of New York"

Last I rant about Damon leaving, and you can quote me on this

Earlier in the 2005 season Damon had said the same thing. He said to Red Sox fans that he could never think about going to New York, he loves Boston and the fans too much. Even if he were offered a lot more moeny, he wouldnt take it.

For me that is what hurt the most, going back on his word like that.

Ok Im done, said what I needed to say.

Amd evem if Pettitte did leave I wouldnt wish injuries on him and talk negatively...I would be greatful for all he has done and I would be bitching about the Front Office not bringing him back. Andy means too much to this organization to say stuff about him like you guys say about Johnny.

I know he said all of that and everything, but I definately also recall him saying at the start of last offseason that he wouldnt rule out coming to the Yankees this offseason, if he got no offers elsewhere.

Obviously he did get offers and everything, but just thought I would throw that out there.

Excuse me about the trade thing....my bad...

Ok, my bad once again for going off topic and bringing up the MFY pitching......jeez.....

he got 2 offers. one from the red sox and one from the yankees. he took the bigger offer. there was no other team other than those 2 out there that offered him anything.
Posted
he actually got a longer offer from the O's for 6 yrs. He turned that down because who the hell would want to play for angelos...

Angelos sucks and is a tool bag!

True, but we thought Damon would never do this...

Damon played for the Red Sox for 4 years. Jeter has played in the Yankees organization for 13 years now, approaching his 14th this coming season. He is the captian of the Yankees, he has won 4 rings here, 6 pennants, World Series MVP, ASG MVP, Rookie of the Year, two gold gloves, should have won a batting title (but that punkass Bill Mueller sat out most of the last game of the season in 2003 protecting his average, while Jeter played), and is the face of our franchise. I will definately take things he says regarding his loyalty to his franchise over things said by someone who has played 4 years in an organization.

Well, Jeter wouldn't go to the Sox for an extra 12 million beause the Sox wouldn't offer him an extra 12 million

and if they did we would match, and then increase it.

i don't believe he had another offer on the table because frankly it would have made it to the media.

The Dodgers did. They were the 6 year team.

he never even went to LA......they thought he was going there to meet with them and he never did. boras came up with his typical mystery team like usual

Maybe so but I wouldnt be surprised if the Orioles paid people to keep their name out of the mix since that wouldve been the 2nd straight turndown of a big offer, then taking another team's small offer. As it was for Paul Konerko. But hey they got Kris Benson :harhar: ah what the hell, he's gonna get lit up like a Christmas tree in the AL. especially the division

Posted
This is the first time I've heard that the Dodgers were the 'unidentified mystery team.'

Trust me...I know what i'm talking about ;)

wish I could say more, but I have to stop here regarding the issue.
