Yeah, I think manny would have rejected a trade to the Mets anyways. I think manny will go west. I heard something one of my friends said he read in a Gammons article for ESPN Insider that they're exploring a trade to seattle for Felix Hernandez and one more prospect. I don't know about that, simply because if I'm seattle, I'd be hanging on to felix for my life, I'd never let him go for anything.

You can tell that the Marlins aren't happy where they're at. Beckett gone. Lowell gone. And now Delgado??? I'm interested to see what they do with Cabrera. He'll prolly slide over to 3rd to replace Lowell, but who knows. With Delgado gone, he has no protection in the lineup. What's this about them going to Vegas???

Well, the marlins have to sell their talent because they don't have the money to keep a competitive team on the field for very long. Young talent is very hard to get, but very cheap to keep around until they hit free agency. So what the marlins are doing is trading their good vets, for excellent prospects that will cut the payroll way down. They just traded us 12 million per year in salary in Lowells big contract, and Becketts arbitration for a couple of kids who total maybe 1 million altogether, maybe not even.

They're talking about going to vegas so they dont have to do this again. In vegas they will probably get enough fans to come out to the games where they wont have to sell their talent, they'll be able to pay for their guys to stick around past their first year of arbitration. No one cares about baseball in florida. I personally think they should put a team in new mexico or portland oregon. Vegas wouldnt be bad though.

I like that idea, too. If that happens, the Marlins should be in the AL. It would balance all of the divisions in baseball. I'd say move them to the AL West, therefore, there's 5 teams in that division. Then, move Pittsburgh to the NL East, replacing the Marlins.

You can't do that because then there has to be a team off every day. There has to be an even number of teams in each league.

I don't know how that works. NL teams' schedule is different from the AL teams'. An AL team faces a non divisional team in three series, while an NL team faces one twice. Ex. Angels face the Yankees 9 times. Dodgers face the Mets 6 times.

BTW, if the Marlins were to move to Vegas or Portland, where would you put them?

If they go to Vegas you put them in the Central and put Pittsburgh in the East. If they were to go to Portland you put them in the West, Colorado in the Central, and Pittsburgh in the East.

But if they go anywhere it will be to Vegas.

People, just because the Mets got Delgado, dont count them out in the Manny sweepstakes. They still have plenty to give away. And I find it rather difficult that he would reject a trade here considering how many friends and family he has here, he would get to play in his hometown, and he would get to play with Pedro.

I remember reading a few months back, around the trade deadline where a business (restuarant of some sort, I think it was a latin food joint) in Washington Heights, who happened to be friends with Manny had a Manny Mets jersey hanging on the wall. With things like that for example to influence him, I dont think he could shatter the dreams of all his friends and family and reject a trade.

Picture This:

SS Reyes

CF Beltran

3B Wright

RF Manny

1B Delgado

LF Floyd

C Ramon Hernandez (looking like they will take him over Molina)

2B Matsui (or whoever they get to play 2B and move Matsui to the bench)

Pretty nice lineup to me. We do go from being an above average defensive team to an so-so - average defensive team, but definately go from being a so-so -average offensive team to a great offensive team.

------------------------------

Anybody besides me realize how much fun the Marlins are going to be to watch. Mike Jacobs is a potentially great player, you all know about Hanley, Cabrera at 3rd, whoever plays 2B (looks like Castilla is gone). They will just have a very fun, young team and I cant wait to watch them next year.

its still possible Omar will now try and swing Delgado over to Boston

------------

As for Mets with their 2nd baseman position, Kaz Matsui is likely on the trading block. A couple of 2nd baseman on their radar is Mark Grudzelanik and our own Tony G.

I wouldn't mind Delgado, but I don't want to keep spending the way we are. We've already taken on Lowell's 9 mill/year contract. Delgado's not gunna be good to us in that department either.

... He also turned his back on the American flag during "God Bless America." <_>

It is possible tha twe send Delgado to you guys as part of a Manny deal, and I was thinking about it earlier. It was also mentioned on Stephen A. Smith's show. But if you think about it, it is unlikely. We would be trading our top 3 prospetcs for Manny (Jacobs, Petit, and we would likely need to include Millege in the deal) and I dont think Omar wants to do that. Instead he will try something along the lines of Millege, Heilman, ca$h, and whatever else it takes (Trachsel, Matsui, more prospects, etc.).

He did that in protest to the war, not to America. He is an American (born in Puerto Rico, and as we all know that is an american territory. he is a citizen of the U.S.) Many people protest the war. If he did it in protest to America then I would have a problem.

i don't have too much of a problem if he is trade bait to get manny, god knows i'd rather have him or beltran than just some unproven prospects + cash. that said, i just don't think he would be an ideal fit for boston. in reference to another thread here, i'd rather trade with texas for a 1B and platoon w/youk and see who wins job in spring training.

personally, i think he's going to the west, especially considering all signs point to a west coast team, but that could always be a smokescreen i guess, lol. all i care about is that we get at least a frontline, productive starter if not an all-star for manny. i don't want to put pressure on papi and lowell to be the offense, at least not until lowell shows that he has regained his confidence and his swing.

I understand that, but I just have a problem with it overall. While it is America, and yes I'm fine with people protesting it, just don't turn your back to the country. When I tihnk of the flag, I think of the whole body of America compressed into a visual representation of the country. Don't turn your back to it. Hate the president, hate what's going on, but don't publicly display what could be taken as hate for the country.

Anyways, I wouldn't mind Delgado in Boston, his bat is awesome and has some great fielding mechanics too. If we get Delgado, it would solve our 1B problems forever. I mean prior to last year, Mike Lowell was an amazing 3rd baseman. He still is in my eyes, and I'm happy to have him. Mr. Green Monster will be his best friend, and I have high hopes for Lowell... That being said, LOOK AT THIS INFIELD (if we got Delgado):

Lowell - Renteria - Pedroia/Graff - Delgado - Tek

I'm one happy camper.

Manny has 10-5, manny wants west manny gets west or stays. Manny goes west.

But regardless of the reports, we still dont know for sure that he would veto a trade to the Mets. I find it unlikely that he would.

Anybody know if Manny lives in the Dominican in the offseason or New York?
