  1. I thought Texiera was starting first base for the US. Maybe I'm wrong.
  2. I could definitely put 50 bones to use.
  3. Good pick up as long as he doesn't take his anger out on the dugout wall or phone or whatever it was with his fist.
  4. I'm hoping they're right about Papelbon and Lester. Papelbon showed some promise late last year. I'm not too hurt about them trading Hanley.
  5. Yeah...this blows. It's not the fact that he's gone, but the fact that just a few months ago, he vowed he would never play for the Yankees. I guess I should start realizing money talks. The bad thing is, we need a shortstop AND a centerfielder...one of which needs to be able to hit leadoff.
  6. You can tell that the Marlins aren't happy where they're at. Beckett gone. Lowell gone. And now Delgado??? I'm interested to see what they do with Cabrera. He'll prolly slide over to 3rd to replace Lowell, but who knows. With Delgado gone, he has no protection in the lineup. What's this about them going to Vegas???
  7. Yeap. Looks that way as long as everyone passes a physical. Along with Lowell. Let's just hope Beckett can get that blister problem under control and also hope that this past season was just an off year for Lowell.
  8. The Mets seem to be trying hard to work something out. I doubt seriously that the Padres are trying for Manny. For starters, I don't see the Padres taking on the remainder of Manny's salary and Manny is a 10-5 guy(been in the league for ten years and on one team for the last five). Which means he has the right to veto any trade he deems unsuitable. The Mets are probably trying to get something for Cameron. He was kind of expensive and he had that nasty collision with Beltran that broke several bones in his face. He also hasn't been cleared by a Dr. yet. Evident;y his eyesight isn't 100%. The Red Sox need to sign a GM before they do anything. I've heard rumors that Theo may want to come back afterall, but that would make Luchinno look like he gave in or something. It's all about a power struggle or something. Who knows.
  9. I think the smart thing to do is hurry up and re-sign Theo so he can concentrate on some of these free-agents. Also, Manny has to be figured out if this is at all possible. Wagner or Ryan would be great, but that is going to be a killer market for those two. Papelbon will help the rotation a lot. I think this off-season could get interesting.
  10. By the way....we're not loaded with starting pitching. That's been one of our weakest points this year. Not to mention our bullpen. Theo will be on the market looking for a hired gun soon...trust me.
  11. It was on Foxsports.com a few days ago. Basically, the Rangers seem to be more willing than anyone else to allow Roger to continue his flexibilty. Like not having to attend games if he isn't starting, being able to choose whether or not he travels and so forth. Plus it's a heck of a lot closer than New York. Don't forget that Clemens' idolized Nolan Ryan who retired from.....The Texas Rangers. The Rangers' explosive offense could definitely treat him a lot better than the pitiful Astros lineup. Texas could be a true contender with someone like Clemens.
  12. Has anyone else read up or heard any more talk about this subject?
  13. Hey, going to see the Sox play the Orioles July 10 at Camden Yards. I'm trying to find out who the prospective pitchers may be. I know it's early, but I just want a ballpark figure. I'm having trouble finding this. Thanks for the help.
  14. I wonder who will be this year's National League Most Valuable Lee. Derrek Lee and Carlos Lee are hitting the cover off the ball and aren't showing any signs of slowing down....at least it isn't Barry.
  15. You gotta check this one out.... http://www.thephatphree.com/features.asp?StoryID=691&SectionID=2
  16. I know Manny is Manny, but does he seem a little too relaxed this year??? I know he's up there in homeruns and RBI's but he doesn't seem like the typical Manny. He usually hits for average as well as power. Maybe I'm reading into this too much because I'm relying on him for my fantasy team. Has anyone else noticed this?
  17. By the way, Mark Prior didn't look too great either in his rehab for the AAA Iowa Cubs. Try 7 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings. Plus he plunked a batter.
  18. So what, he got rocked....believe it or not, there are some pretty decent players in AAA. He'll start next week and hopefully get back to his old self. I see Schilling as a pitcher that has to get up for big games. I'd be more worried about the starts by David Wells and Matt Clement myself. Neither one looked very impressive. I guess only time will tell.
  19. None other than Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees!!! Seems like Mariano has a little bit of a hangup with the Bo Sox. Torre should just start letting Tom Gordon close against them.
  20. I don't know if anyone saw Damon on the Regis and Kelly show, but it looks as if Steinbrenner is gonna make a hard run to put Johnny in Pinstripes after this season. You can check out the whole story on the Rumors forum on Foxsports.com. Who knows....After losing D-Lowe and Pedro last year, I guess anyone is expendable.....unless your name is Jason Varitek. I would hate to see Johnny go. Hopefully he's just using this for negotion purposes. Who knows.
  21. I just got done watching Barry Bonds' spring training press conference. Hmmm...let's see. Barry says people don't know him. Well, I used to know who Barry Bonds was before his head grew from the size of a pea to a watermelon. I used to know who Barry was before it turned into him against the world. Barry seems to not know how to handle all the pressure that comes with being the so-called "Greatest Baseball Player Ever" (not my personal opinion by far). I just wonder how long Barry can hide under this rock before it finally crushes him. He says he isn't racist, arrogant, or egotistical. I haven't seen anything but this side of Barry. Hopefully he will soon break the all-time homerun record and retire shortly after.....C'mon Barry, hit another long ball.
  22. It was kind of tasteless. If the fans do it, it's one thing. I mean, they are the home fans and they're mooning the away team. The fans are paying to watch the athletes. I think the players need to use a little more sense. The only thing that ticked me off was Moss' reply about the $10,000 fine. He basically said that it was nothing to him. He's way too cocky sometimes. But he is Randy Moss.
  23. The way I see it, Theo might just be trying to drive the Yankees up in price. If they spend more money on Big Unit, they can't make a serious play for Beltran. Johnson is going to the Yankees, Beltran is probably going to the Mets. The Unit is no serious bet, he's getting older everyday.
  24. Miller has been impressive when he's been healthy. Clement's record would have been much better with more run support. In my opinion, the rotation is deeper and better now even with Pedro being gone. I'm still wondering about Wells...that could be interesting.
