Whoa... did a Spurs fan just call another player a flopping genius?

Manu Ginobli is, by far, the worst flopper in the league and from what I've seen, Fabricio Oberto is pretty damn close. The reason the League is considering making flopping a technical is basically because of your team.

But I digress... Big Z sucks.

Believe me, I know what you mean. I get incredibly tired of watching Ginobili and Oberto flail their arms at the slightest bit of contact.

Anyway, Zydrunas Ilgauskas is not a good player? He's an all-star and a terrific defender. He was the franchise player before LBJ took over

 That's not something to be proud of.

He's got a pretty good jumpshot, some nice post moves and a soft touch around the basket. And as always, being really tall helps in basketball. He and Carlos Boozer used to be a fearsome front court. Do you think Duncan had poor shooting percentages in certain games just by chance? As far as I know, he, Rasheed Wallace and Kevin Garnett bother TD to a certain extent because they are "long" defenders

Quick... name another Center in the East that was even close to being "all-star caliber" and not named Shaq in 2003 and 2005. In 2003 you didn't even have Shaq to take up a roster spot. Big Z got the spot because he was the least undeserving.

*Note -- Ben Wallace made the 2005 team as a Forward.

Dwight Howard was a rookie in 2005. Okafor actually would've been the better candidate but neither was all-star caliber at the time. Okafor was actually also hurt for the All-Star game.

This deal means the Lakers would have rebuilt their roster for a championship run team for a second time since Larry Bird retired. Good to see all the Celtic greats helping the Lakers get back to the top.

That makes you the only person that would take Jefferson over Garnett.

You'd trade a 22 year old kid with a huge potential that he has already tapped into, and an amazing low post game for a guy his age (along with the 5th pick, possibly Gerald Green (god knows how good he can be), and a filler or two?) for an aging 32 year old guy with no experience winning?

Yeah, Garnett is a better player at the moment, but in 1-2 years Jefferson will surpass him, no doubt in my mind.

Garnett isn't a winner, and it'd be 10 times easier to teach Jefferson to become a winner than to teach Garnett to become a winner.

EDIT: Al is also going to be a top ten post player this year, no doubt in my mind. He'll go for 20/11 this year.

Yeah, then Barkley, Ewing, Malone, and Stockton are all losers too right? Lets not confuse him being stuck on a bad team that had their draft picks taken away for Joe Smith. He has at least another good 5 years left. Hell if Shaq can be effective at 34 while being out of shape, I am pretty sure KG will be just fine.

well then its good that the feelings are mutual. as for KG not being a winner, ok, well at least he's gotten to the western conference finals when he actually had support and some semblance of a team around him. hmm, sounds familiar, paul pierce anybody???

as far teaching how to be a winner...uh, what was exactly the last thing they won???

....and who's gonna do the teaching??

what were we giving up? all i heard was the 5th pick and a little more for Jermaine O'Neal

get the deal done with the 5th pick, gerald and gomes or sumthing

That little more would happen to be Al Jefferson. It's a no no in my opinion.

********

they'll have similar #s this season

how good were the wolves with garnett this year??

we can still suck without paying garnett, dumping our best young player while perhaps going from 30wins to a .500 record in the meantime.

the need to start from scratch is there

a .500 record for 10 more years isnt what this franchise needs at this point

Are you telling me the Celtics are going to be better team with Jefferson then with Garnett? + you are would be bringing Garnett to the East, and we you really don't need much to get to the Eastern Conference Finals.

It really doesn't matter anyway seeing as they wouldn't be able to compete for the title with that roster.

the celtics are playing wicked good right now in their first summer league game.

Green is showing that he is one of the most athletic kids in this league and hes shooting pretty well

Davis is playing real well, hustling, getting boards and scoring

Powe is fighting for boards as well and has had 2 3-point play oppurtunities.

Pruitt really looks like he can shoot lights out. good athlete and very good shot.

Rondo has played well defensively and passing the ball, but it seems like hes afraid to shoot. i think the only shot hes made was a full court three at the end of the first

overall though they look really good, and defensively they have been VERY GOOD

another guy who really looks good, but might not make it with the Celtics is Brandon Wallace. Kid can jump and looks like he's a good athlete

take out the 4th quarter and this team played really, really well tonight. defensively and offensiviely. Kinda wanted to see Gerald play a little more but Wallace was playing so well he didnt need to. Rondo needs to finish more and take layups/shoots when he has the oppurtunity. Ray struggled shooting but still hustled and looked pretty good to me. Leon Powe had a phenominal game, i think he may end up getting a lot of playing time this year. Big Baby didnt really shoot the ball well tonight either, but he hustled and i think it may take him a while, but he could be a nice player. Pruitt didnt do much really, but he shot the ball pretty good and showed his athletic ability. Brandan Wallace will make this team and if not be on the roster, atleast play in the d-league.

Just heard on ESPN via Jackie McMullan that the Celtics and T-Wolves have resumed talks about a possible trade involving Kevin Garnett. As it stands now, the Celtics would trade Al Jefferson and Theo Ratliff for Kevin Garnett. It seems as though Ainge has suddenly shifted into a win-now mentality.

herald repoting deal is completed. except they say we're sending green, gomes, ratliff, jefferson and 1st rounder for garnett, who signed an extension.
