Holy s***!!!! 81?! Amazing. I say he goes for Wilt's record!

Kobe puts up 81, the Suns and Sonics put up almost 300 combined points, and the Nuggets beat the Spurs. What the hell was wrong in the NBA today?

That's f***in insane! You'd think that after the first 60 points or so you would double him, but then again what do you expect from a Toronto team

Great feat, but let's not kid ourselves:

A. Kobe did it against Toronto..which,last I checked,is not exactly a defensive juggernaut.

B. The Lakers will be lucky to get out of the first round,if they even MAKE the playoffs. Kobe can do a lot of things, but he's not a miracle worker.

True, but until somebody else puts up NEAR 81 against the Raptors... I won't discount Kobe's accomplishment in the slightest bit.

It was 301, but it shoulda been more. Ray Allen should NEVER have been that open. EVER.

But that shouldn't suprise you See Red you know the offensive firepower of the Suns and Sonics. Marion had 37 12 (ish) and like 6 blocks. Bell played well too. I just can't wait for Amare to return...:D  B)

If he started like he played in the 4th and both OT's we would be talking about Ray Allen going for like 70-80 also. Remember he had 24 in the 4th quarter alone.

Oh and to those who say Kobe has absolutely NOBODY on his team to pass to...does Lamar Odom ring a bell? He's a pretty damn good player, and needs to shoot more. But whatever, the Lakers will struggle to reach the playoffs, if not miss them entirely. Their a mediocre team and having Kobe put up rediculous numbers doesn't always translate into victories, or they would be undefeated and running away with the West and they are FAR from that.

umm, which lamar odom are you talking about? i'd gladly take the lamar from the miami heat because the lamar from LA has been inconsistent and pretty much does a dissapearing act when the team needs him step up. at this point smush has been more consistent a contributer than lamar (1 for 7 last nite, CMON!).

In the NBA today, i really am shocked that they combined for 300. Though, if i had to pick two teams to do it... Suns are one of em for sure

talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face... i can't believe peja was all they got (they give up all-star two way player for a 1 dimensional guy that can only shoot)...they must really have been desperate not to wait at least closer to trade deadline.

Dude. NO ONE WANTED HIM. The only reason they got Peja is because the Kings have been trying to get rid of him for a few years. The Pacers should be thankful they got anything.

Artest backed out of the deal...

ESPN is reporting that Ron Artest contacted the Pacers and Kings and is refusing to go to Sacramento, which has prompted the Kings to back out of the deal consummated three hours ago for Peja Stojakovic.

This story is not over, and it's unknown if Peja will suit up for the Kings tonight. Jim Gray added that the Pacers have to think about suspending Artest without pay, as he requested a trade, and is now refusing to go. The fact that he's been getting paid through this entire ordeal just doesn't seem right anyway. Gray made it sounds as if the Sacramento deal is officially dead, leaving the Pacers back at square one. Jan. 24 - 6:10 pm et

OMG! You gotta be freaking kidding me! Not that I don't blame him (who'd actually want to go to last place Sacramento?) but dude IS NOT going back home to NY. Seeing as how he started all this chaos in the first place, he needs to either report to the team he was traded to or just do the league a favor and just retire.

What would you rather see him do...go to the Lakers?

How do u get me wanting that cancer on the lakers from my earlier rant for him to either report to Sacramento or do the league a favor and retire to make more bad music full time? Don't get me wrong, i think he's a good player that could help any team he gets traded to, but even with him we're no closer to competing for a championship...

And learning from the T.O. debacle in philly, I'd rather we not sell our soul for this timebomb, especially since we already had one crazy brother in LA and just traded his ass to Oakland. Although it's a moot point now, but seeing as how Mitch Kupchak is about as predictable and deliberate as watching paint dry, there was no way in hell artest was seriously coming here anyway, shy of Maggette not being injured that is. In fact the only time he [Kupchak] seems to do anything was when a certain in-house free agent, or the owner figuratively holds a gun to his head.

As disappointing as Odom has played in LA, he's pretty much close to untouchable...though I think that has more to do with LA getting shafted in trading away Shaq and he representing the only 'value' we got in return.
