the thing with the Huff post was more then just a little casual speculation, That was full blown speculation where an arguement was provided. I was simply stating regarding Beltre that I would not be surprised if he used. not because of his decline or anything, it was just a statement. I didnt make a big deal about it or anything, I made a post saying that he it wouldnt surprise me, I did not point out the decline in his stats and point to steroids as a possible explanation. Get it straight.

Please. Your post came right after HHM complained that Beltre destroyed his fantasy team. It wasn't said, but it was implied. Speculation is speculation, but once again, I guess you are the arbiter of what speculation is allowable. Get over yourself.

Beltre didn't juice, he just got lost in safeco like a lot of people. The fact that sexon hit so well in that park really speaks to what a beast he is. Beltre just couldn't live up to his contract, hes very good though still.

This is what started the steroid conversation in this thread:

I see nothing more than specualtion there, yet you were quick to agree with those that said it wasn't fair to suggest that. I have never said anything more than I think Giambi is using something. I guess it's only OK when you are the one doing the speculating.

I read all the threads here, and I put my two cents in wherever I feel they are necessary. If a Sox fan here condraticted himself as much as you do, my actions would be no different, but I haven't seen a fan of any team do it as regularly as you do.

My point is being completely misunderstood. I said, assuming he DIDN'T use steroids, this is still an awful sign to see. He only had one really good season, with a pretty good season before and after that. Other than that hes never done anything that would justify how much money he is making and has done nothing to show that he could come close to being an all star replacement for Manny. Considering he wasn't very good last year, and has gotten worse 2 years in a row, i think the sox should avoid him.

I agree but he is very overrated. You could deffinitly see that coming after the season he had in LA. Beltre never posted numbers like that and was up for the MVP. I knew the Seattle Mariners were throwing too much money at him. He is still very good and I can't believe he is only 26 (seems like he has been around for a while). If Manny had been claimed off waivers last year it was said Theo would sign JD Drew and Adrian Beltre. That would have been interesting.

Ortiz says Manny's not returning to Red Sox

SANTO DOMINGO (AP) - One of baseball's most fearsome offensive duos in 2005 — Red Sox's David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez — appears to be history. According to Ortiz, "Manny is not returning to Boston. "Manny is living through a difficult situation (in Boston) that only he and his family know and he no longer wants to play there," said Ortiz after arriving early Monday in the Dominican Republic. Ramirez has asked for a trade in each of his five seasons with the Red Sox, but apparently this one is definite.

"I spoke with him last week before he left for Brazil and he told me that he wants to go to a team in the West," Ortiz, the Red Sox's designated hitter, said. Ramirez has three years worth $160 million remaining on his contract and eight seasons with the Red Sox. Because of his status as a player with 10 seasons in the major leagues and five with the same team, he is allowed to approve any trade. "I found out that that they are doing everything possible to trade him," Ortiz said. The Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim have been named as a possible destination for Ramirez, as well as the New York Mets.

If we lose Manny I still say we talk to the Mariners about Ichiro. I know they say he isn't available but if there is a problem between Ichiro and the management then perhaps something could develop. Signing Ichiro gives us the best leadoff hitter in baseball (not Damon) and would then allow us more money to go after Konerko to replace Manny.

....its just another possible direction to go....I would still rather keep Manny...I just don't see many options on the west coast. I hear the Dodgers are stacked in the minors though....and I like JD Drew...guess its another possibility.

If Manny wants the Angels then I say for the Sox to pull off another good trade acquiring Ervin Santana and Darin Erstad who would take over in left field. With the addition of Santana, the Sox then go and find a suitable team to trade Clement to

Sox 2006 rotation

Josh Beckett

Curt Schilling

Jonathan Papelbon

Tim Wakefield

Ervin Santana

a younger and more solid of a rotation

I don't like JD Drew, I really hope we keep manny. I think that if Lowell can take advantage of the monster he could be good, im not expecting it, but this lineup could be scary, I really wanna see Manny in this lineup, now more than ever.

Sorry for the double post, but, is there any truth to the cardinals inquiring about Clement? and if so any rumors about who they would send? I don't know if this is true but I heard something of it in school today.

if thats the peple in your rotation i like it but if its the order they pitch i don't, out wakefield between our 2 hard throwing guys(schilling and beckett) to keep the other team off balance...not to mention schilling is 14-2 pitching after wakefield loses

Let look at the possible West coast teams here.

A's, Angels, Rangers, Mariners, Pads, Giants, Rockies, D-Backs, and dodgers.

I think if you are trying to include wells then cross off everyone except the pads. If only manny then I could use a starter like Schmidt. Think of that. Bonds and Ramirez together. The giants would love it btu we would have to open our wallets for that to happen.

schimt? come on we already have a overkill of sp, i know it sounds weird, but what we need now is good young hitters

The ONLY plus we get out of trding Manny is getting rid of that bulky contract. We're not trading him if we have to open up our wallets to do so.

Lowell's career spray chart at Pro Player Stadium:

Mr. Lowell, I'd like you to meet Mr. Green Monster, your new best friend.

Ooooh baby, that looks good.

fantastic avatar haha.

Yes I think its wrong we all start saying trade Lowell. This guy could be huge for us this season. Past the numbers he is a team leader and locker room guy....EXACTLY what the Sox like to have. He is an excellent fit for the Red Sox and that spray chart of Lowell is scarey. Beckett says he will hit 40 HRs here......I'd love to see it. If he can hit over 30 in Florida its possible.

In talking to all my Braves-fan friends today about Beckett (who they say will be beyond very good) they said the sleeper in the trade is Lowell. They were all raving about him hitting at Fenway..... ehem, think Kevin Millar when each were hitting well.

They also say he's a great Team guy in the clubhouse with better defense than Billy Mueller.

We still got Youk and Shoppach as trade bait, so lets get us a slugger for 1b.

I say we trade Youk, Shopp, Millar, Ramirez, and half of the first born children in Boston for Pujols. Then we'd be UNSTOPPABLE.

Manny for Ichiro perhaps? Its worth the Sox looking into...

Rotoworld: Seattle has joined Anaheim as a preferred destination for Manny Ramirez, a source close to the slugger told the Boston Herald. Ramirez would be reunited with Mike Hargrove in Seattle and might serve in helping Hargrove keep his job beyond in 2006. However, the Mariners are more interested in finding another left-handed bat. Surely, Adrian Beltre will resume hitting like he did in 2004 if only the team finds a good left-hander to hit behind him.
