So I guess baseball can be entertaining without the Yanks or Sox involved. I really wanted to see Pujols get a chance to hit there, just to see what happened. And what happened was one of those "where were you when Pujols hit that homer?" kind of things.

On a side note, how do you abandon your fastball in that at bat? You are hitting 98 on the gun, and they've barely touched you. Sliders have the tendency to hang, and guess what happened.

I still want Houston to win the series, but boy are the Cards going to roll with this one.

Fastball to Pujols and that ball goes through those windows in left, hes a great fastball hitter. They barely touched him because those hitters aren't Pujols.

If you listen to the Yankee games and you hear Jim Kaat he always says....."when you throw 2 or 3 or 4 breaking balls in a row each has to be better then the previous one." The first pitch Lidge threw him was a great slider......the next pitch was belt high right down the pipe. I have no problem with him throwing sliders in that situation because he has the best slider in the game and even if he throws 3 in a row he still strikes people out but its mediocre when you leave it where he left it.

Worst day of the year. Period. The game was wrapped up... they had it... wow. How did it slip away? I'm at a loss of words.

Can't count your chickens before they hatch. Lidge is great, but Pujols is amazing.

agreed, you cant base it on Luna and Maybry because they arent Pujols.

The argument has merit when you consider Eckstein's AB though. He threw him nothing but sliders, which allowed Eck to get his timing set. A couple of FBs in that AB keeps him off balance, and maybe he doesn't start the 2-out rally.

If I remember correctly in the Eck ab. Eck took untill he got to 2 strikes and he threw him nothing but fastballs. The hit he got was on a low slider.

Eckstein is a scrappy hitter and like Brenly said, "Eckstein gives you everything in every game (summarized)"

Yep, he can be a torn in your side. I'm going to hit the sack and see if I can catch you sleep after this EXCITING night of baseball.

I'm wrong. The BBTN analysis covered Lidge's 9th pitch-by-pitch .

...And Edmonds took a walk! No ejection today. :) Last year was insane with the walk-off in Game 6, and the outfield grab.

Oswalt is really good though. Not that Mulder isn't, but hopefully getting hit won't affect his performance tomrrow.

Once Edmonds got on, I knew what was coming when Pujols stepped up. I just knew that he was going to destroy a pitch, and man did he ever. He just had the perfect swing and connection with that ball. I do want the Astros to win because I believe they present the best chance to beat the White Sox whom I just hate.

Pujols is one of the best, if not THE best fastball hitter in the game. I don't care how hard you're throwing, don't throw him a fastball. Sure, sliders have a tendency to hang, but because of how good Lidge is, I guess they figured he would still have the control over it.

One things for sure though, Mulder vs. Oswalt is gonna be yet again, a great matchup.

Pujols, like all great sluggers, can mash the FB. But those hanging breaking balls are the ones they hit out of the park at the highest rate. Every slider you throw has a chance to hang. I'm not saying you can get away with throwing a hitter like Albert nothing but cheese, but you have to mix it up.

I wasn't suprised that Lidge sucked ass like that. he was terrible in game 4, and barely escaped. Only a matter of time before it caught up to him

With a day off he should be able to regroup...shucks.

I think STL has a decent shot at winning this series. 2 at home with momentum like they have and the adrenaline probably still pumping through their veins? Roger Clemens in game 7 Shmoger Smenebs smin smame sheven, they have a shot. And I hope they can do it.

I still say St Louis will win this series. The Cards have all the momentum after that win and they are going to be playing at home. With Mulder vs Oswalt and then Morris vs Clemens. I'm still going with St Louis to win this series seeing as how the Astros are what 0-5 now in clinching games.

Wow 5-1 Houston this really sucks. I don't want to see them in the World Series. GO WHITE SOX. Take the Hoes in 4.

that would be awesome if the whitesox did take it in 4, but if the Astros win tonight, its going to be pitching against pitching. heh but the Astros Offense has an edge over the whitesox's offense
