Assuming that the Sox win the AL East (and I believe that they can do it), in past years, I would have wanted the Yankees to get the wild card spot so we would have to beat them to get to the WS. That dream came true last year. As great as another Sox-Yanks playoff series would be, I must admit that I would get some pure joy and satisfaction out seeing the Yanks not even make the playoffs this season. Steinbrenner would lose it and the axe would be falling all over that club! Oh, you have to admit that would be fun!

I'd want the Yankees to make it. Cleveland is the most underrated team in baseball. Solid hitting, and probably the best all around staff. Plus theres nothing better than a Sox/Yanks 7 game series.

While I'd love to see Cleveland make the WC, and the Yanks left out, it's great to beat the Yankees in the playoffs, assuming we do. Especially where I live. When the Sox win, it's like the f***ing holy day.

I have to say that I would love to see the Yanks not make it to the playoffs. It's been, what? Like 20 years or something running that they have been in the postseason? God, it would be awesome to see them lose....

So, uh, after the Sox win the AL East...GO CLEVELAND!!

Really, wow is all I can say, your tied for 1st with the Yankees, and its assuming the Sox win it???

Maybe 2 weeks ago, but not today, you may want to wait untill you accually won the division to see who you want to win the Other, becuase as it is a true reality for me, it better be a true reality for you that your team may not even make the playoffs.....

I like to think positive. :) If we lose, I will be more than happy to eat my words.

But I have faith. ;)

It's a win-win situation for the Red Sox fans.

If Cleveland, we get to wave goodbye to the Yankees and see that precious look on Arod's face again. If New York, we have the pleasure of seeing them get their asses run out of town again, and still get to see that precious look on Arod's face again.

:)

"and its assuming the Sox win it???"

The Yankees have been offering a wholesale discount on runs to opposing teams.

tonight is Bronson, the only other reliable starter for the month of September who has gone 4-0 with a 3.60 ERA. He has also done very well agaisnt the Blue Jays. Just got to buckle down and get these last 2 games, 3 out of 4 still would be awesome feeling.

I got good feeling, Sam Perlozzo and Orioles' players were saying in interviews last night that they had realized what great confidence that win gave them, and they hope to continue that their last 5 games of the season and set themselves up for 2006. great way to look at it, go Orioles

The O's only bought 1 run tonight, so much for the "wholesale discount"

big difference, yea the sox's bullpen from 4th inning to the end didnt allow any runs to the jays--yanks bullpen gave up like what, 10 the other day?--be afraid if one of the yanks starters this wknd doesnt last that long

It's about wins and losses, losing 7-2 is no different from 17-9.

A tendency to give up runs by the dozen (I repeat, TENDENCY), is pretty likely to have an impact on the wins-to-losses ratio in the short term. The Red Sox can EXPECT to win 3 out of 4 games at this juncture. The Yankees can HOPE to win 3 out of 4.

You guys are lucky Cleveland forgot how to play baseball. If Aaron Small wins tonight (I'm still a little up in the air about it) I really think its over. There is no way Johnson will lose on Saturday.

yawn, one game back and yet its over for the sox yea whatever dude. Ive seen Sox come back worse than this. and who's saying wakefield will do bad on saturday? most likely it will be another pitcher's duel and its not likely sox's offensive struggles will continue when the playoffs are here which is starting tonight through sunday

so if the sox win, and cleveland loses which knowing tampa bay they could lose, sox would then be up a game over the Guardians. But the season is automatically over from one game? You should really check yourself, if you think this 3 game series will be a sweep for ny

Yea but all we have to do is one game in Fenway, to force a game at Yankee stadium Monday. I'll say this tonight is really important for all 3 teams. I think Guardians will win behind Sabathia. The Yankees and Red Soxs games could go either way.

It certainly is important. If the Yanks win...it might be over...I did see us come back being down 3 games to 0 (not sure if anyone saw that last year?). I think the Yanks have a good fight on there hands tonight though with Bedard...he is a good pitcher. Meanwhile I don't know what to expect from Clement but if he can get to 7 innings...I like our chances tonight. I can't imagine the Blue Jays keep hitting like this. That along with the fact we didn't score runs yesturday which means we are due. The Yanks are throwing out Small who I'm still waiting to see blow up....at this point I don't think its going to happen. Guardians have Sabathia but the Devil Rays offense can score and Fossum is no push over.

....lets just play the games

The only thing I find funny about this thread is its titled "Cleveland or Yankees for Wild card" SO no matter what about the series at Fenway, the Red Sox supposibly won it, even though their a game back

But I do not want to take this anymore offtopic, just putting in my thoughts
