Anyone have any thoughts on what the Sox should do with Millar? Even though he's batting at .275 (which is average) he has only 4 HR's and 30 something RBI.

REcently it seems every time he's up with risp he kills the inning by popping or fouling out. Should the Sox keep him or open up his spot and give Youk, Olerud, and Petagine a chance to shine?

My feeling is if it wasn't going to hurt the clubhouse atmosphere so much they should cut their losses and send him packing.

he has been struggling but he will likely stay on for the rest of the season, this is his last year in his contract where he will become a free agent and Sox wont likely at all renew his contract. Petagine will be sent down as soon as Olerud comes back from the DL next week, but you can count on Roberto possibly sent up on Sept 1 when rosters expand. Interesting to note, Gordon Edes said that 1st basemen on Theo's mind to acquire for 2006 are the D-Rays' Aubrey Huff, and even the Chicago White Sox's Paul Konerko.

go.

he sucks in every dimension of the game, and being a cheerleader isnt enough to keep his useless fatass around.

I know the management likes him and tito is loyal to a fault...but it is clear kevin has no talent whatsoever, and that is putting it as nicely as possible.

soon as olerud gets back hopefully we'll see less and less of kevin.

speaking of going....riverside I know how you like to give us news on bellhorn, and I for one appreciate your efforts. In a ghoulish way it's kind of like rubber necking a car wreck, you dont want to look but do.

I saw bell-around the horn went 0-5 lowering his anemic average to.111.

apparently the sox have until aug 20th to decide what to do with soxie's man, and other than her, I would imagine his level of support has got to be non-existent. I mean in spite of her, who would notice if he was waived.

Plus, who would you send down to make room for a spaz like mark..a batboy no it doesnt work like that.

I havent used the word spaz in a long time but I think it applies to this guy.

Konerko= too expensive for Theo. Millar is going to end up staying the FO loves him. Mueller is all about wether or or not another team is willing to offer him mor eyears.

I'm still going to stick by my boy Remlinger.

I say let him play out his contract then let him go and go after another first basemen who is going to produce alot more.

Of course Millar is going to stay on for the rest of this season with the Sox. For all the hate mongering you guys do, remember that Millar does something none of our other players do.

He plays 1b and both corner outfield positions. He's also the #3 catcher - though that is something I don't ever want to see.

Olerude can't play everyday - he's already back on the DL.

At the end of the season I think Theo will look to add power at both 3rd and 1st. Though if he picks up a second baseman with Bellhornian power (one that hits 15 or so HRs/yr) then Mueller may be back. I hope so but doubt it.

Theo wont have to look for 3rd, Youkilis will be the starter. As for 2nd base goes, I see starting position either going to Tony G or Triple A Dustin Pedroia. and for first, Sox are taking interest in Paul Konerko or the D-Rays' Aubrey Huff

I hope Millar stays. He's a great team guy, he's versatile and fields questions from the media when no one else wants to (which is necessary since reporters are going to ask questions and not all players want to talk to them).

While not a stellar ball player, he has the intangibles that make a winning team.

Sara, I almost fell off my chair laughing when I read your response. That was freakin' hilarious!

RSR...while he does play all those positions, he doesn't play any one of them very well!

I'm with Sara, dump his fatass!

I say keep him the rest of the year, let's keep the club together and let this play out. the club house seem happy with all the manny stuff behind them. also he might not play all 3 pos well but atleast they are not just throwing someone from AAA or AA out there like the Stinkees.

If Millar goes the media will bring this to the club everyday... I can hear it now "What impact will it have on the team now that Millar is gone", so IMO keep him.

P.S. poor Pedro lose no hitter and lost oh well should have sign with Boston!!!

The clubhouse doen't need Millar they are all lose as hell anyways. Millar just adds homosexuality. And you can not tell me that man is not gay, any man who plays major league baseball for more than 3 years and can not get AT LEAST a trophy wife must be gay.

yeah, you're right he's a homo.

.PS: How fitting the his name start with K, the twins first names both start with K.

sounds like it should have been belllhorn's family.

Why is this even up for debate?

Kevin Millar is the second worst offensive first basemanin the game. He's among the bottom 5 defensive first baseman. He's very slow and very fat.

I've said this 100 times before, I believe Kevin Millar is the fattest singles hitter in the history of the game. He's completely worthless.

There is absolutely no logical reason why Kevin Millar should waste a roster spot for even one more day. However, to my incredible dissapointment, Theo and Terry not only waste a roster spot, but 4-5 outs a game on this guy.

How many times do we need to re-hash:

Kevin Millar can't play defense.

Kevin Millar doesn't hit in the clutch.

Kevin Millar doesn't hit in the playoffs.

Kevin Millar can't hit on the road.

Kevin Millar can't run.

The fact that he's worth keeping around for his clubhouse presense is absolute BS. Ortiz and Manny Ramirez are loose enough for the whole team. The last thing this team needs is another dumbass slogan like "Cowboy up" or "team of idiots." Just go out there and play the game. Kevin Millar is not a major league player, and doesn't deserve at bats on a contender. s***, he doesn't deserve at bats on ANY TEAM, let alone a team with a real shot at making the playoffs.

The day the Red Sox finally get rid of Kevin Millar will be at least two years too late.

Haha, I honestly dont think I could have said it better than that.

Millar is not doing so bad as of late. I still like him and Olerud a lot at first base.

Millar's been just as horrible in August as ever: hitting .239 this month with a slugging percentage of .283 !!!!!

That's absolutely pathetic. Gabe Kaplers slugging percentage along (.536) is almost as high as Millar's OPS (Slugging + On base percentage) (.548). David Ortiz, Tony Graffanino, Manny Ramirez, and ROBERTO PETAGINE all have higher slugging percentages in August than Millar's OPS.

The only player on the entire team with a lower slugging percentage than Kevin Millar in August? Alex Cora. Even Jose Cruz Jr, the player the Red Sox CUT LOOSE, had a higher slugging percentage than Kevin Millar.

Please don't say Kevin Millar is "not so bad as of late." He's been as horrible as any player in Major League Baseball.

elsrbruneo, dont worry so much you got like 2 months left of millar anyway with him being a free agent in the offseason---I cant wait for the offseason, man it would be such a big news story if Red Sox are able to land Konerko; another free agent this off season; but i will be just as happy if they acquire Aubrey Huff

Really? Shows how much I follow the players life outside of baseball. I just saw the Queer Eye For the Stright Guy and noticed Millar was the only one who didn't have a wife.
