It is with much glee that I report to you all tonight that the Red Sox clearly are the greatest team in the AL east. I mean look at it this way, choosing which team is the best bet to go with to win the AL east is as simple as picking which girl to bring to the prom, Anna Kournikova (Red Sox) or the four Golden girls (Tampa, Baltimore, Toronto and the Yankees) starring as the dinosaur like four women.

Now Irish Jay hears a lot of talk coming out of New York that it will once again be another showdown between the Sox and the Yanks. Well quite frankly to compare the situation to something else one need look no further than the African jungle. It is in the sweltering African jungle where the mighty Lion much like the Red Sox, RIPS in to it's much inferior prey, mostly the zebra who with pinstripes and all truly do resemble the timid and outclassed Yankees!!! :harhar:

The Yankees also have a very unlikeable team. If it were not for baseball Gary Sheffield would currently be serving a 20- to life sentence at Attica state prison for selling bags of crack-cocaine to children living in public housing. Jason Giambi is a Roid head, A-Rod is a ........well where do i begin? A pretty boy sissy pants who would rather kiss Carson Kressley ( Queer Eye dude) on the cheeks than to slide in to third base and get dirty.

Yes Red Sox Nation it will once again be a great October to remember!! B)

Why because you beat a struggling team 3 games in a row. We just had two come from behind victories from the best bullpen in the league. I would't boast if we were down by a run or two, but in both games we came from 4 runs down.

Well that's not saying much. Because the AL East is the weakest of the three AL division - and with the exception of the NL West, it's probably the weakest of all the divisions in MLB.

Are you CHB in disguise? Because it's not over until it's over (as in, mathematical standings here), and seeing as how flawed both teams are, with Baltimore in free fall, no one's blown it wide open. And for 200 mil's worth, not even making it into the postseason would be a catastrophic disapointment, and even that would be understating it.

Yeah ok, you guys can go back and have your fun. :D Maybe I'll start a NEW YORK IS ON TOP OF THE WORLD thread when we're leading by 1/2 game. <_>

Are you going to take credit for two nights ago, Francisco Rodriguez walking four batters as well? That's not Yankee talent, that's horrible pitching. Then in 1.1 IP, Kevin Gregg gave up two walks today. Much less, the Angels had today's game right in their hands literally -- that ground ball in the 10th I believe right to Orlando Cabrera and he couldn't handle it. That should have been a loss for the Yankees a blown save for Rivera. The Angels beat themselves, you didn't beat them.

That was not a struggling Twins club -- that's what happens when you run into some great Red Sox pitching prospects and a fantastic offense.

That's why we got Edgar. :D

I still love Ecks the best though... :)

Wow, the Angels didn't blow two consecutive saves since 2002. Fluke, no fluke, for anyone to get to K-Rod, I'll take it! WOMACK? Wow, for him to be key in both wins...heh, that's a surprise.

The Twins have been struggling offensively; that's why it's surprising they didn't get another bat, with Boone still trying to find his offense, and now Torii Hunter's out.

I'm not taking away everything from the Red Sox, but hey if you're going to bring up that the Angels "beat themselves", then the Twins offensive woes has to at least factor into some of this. ;)

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

like how Manny was given the second chance at Chicago White Sox, 3rd baseman dropped the pop up Manny hit and then next pitch, Manny had driven the ball into the bleachers--a lot of games, luck comes into play against the stats

The AL East will come down to the wire this season. I wouldnt go as far to say the Sox are "the king of the jungle" with only a 2.5 game lead on the streaky yankees. Both teams have proven that they can play good and play bad. The red sox are hot right now and the yankees arent too far behind. I can already imagine these two teams back in the alcs. The rest of the AL must surely be sick of the Redsox and Yankees.

Well, they are leading the AL East by 2 1/2 games and are on a roll lately. I guess Francona was right during the Yankee series when he said that his team was going to get stronger later in the season.

The Yankees are hanging around but struggling with pitching. Maybe they will be a wild card this year. Oh BTW, thanks for beating the Twins. That's one less team we have to worry about fighting for the wild card for now. Maybe you could sweep Oakland too while you are at it... :)

We don't like to do the Yankees favors, but sure, we'll sweep the A's for you.

Oakland is hot right now...I don't think anyone is going to sweep them. If good pitching shuts down good hitting; the A's staff is downright nasty. How's Payton doing? ;)

Well boo-hoo "rest of AL East", you saw your crack in the door and it's too bad you didn't stick your foot in it.

ALCS, part 3 is harder to do this year. The AL East coming to the wire doesn't mean that the teams in it (be is Boston or New York, they have issues) are good, but it's a dogfight of teams with lots of holes in it, compared to the division leaders in the AL Central (if the White Sox don't prove to be the 2001 Mariners) and in the AL West. Take the East Coast bias out of it, and one has to admit the rest of the league IS BETTER. <_>

I wish that people here would cut Edgar Renteria some slack. First year ever in the America league, facing pitchers he mostly has never seen before. He has a great attitude and once the pressure lessens (mostly what he puts on his own self) and he feels comfortable, this could be a great acquisition for the Red Sox.

Red Sox have a 4 game series with Oakland in September at Fenway; the Yankees start September with a 3 game set at Oakland.

“That’s not a struggling Twins club”, only Baltimore has been in a worse tail spin. It also helped you guys that Hunter got hurt on your deformed center field wall and you didn’t face Santana. And if you want to talk about gift games how about the White Sox giving you the game by dropping Manny’s popup. You counted the Yankees out, and then you got nervous when they caught up. Now you win a few games against the D-rays and the struggling Twins and your heads are big again. Bottom line is Boston has as many question marks as the Yankees so I wouldn’t be sticking my chest out too far just yet.

haha sorry laughing my ass of at a yankee fan saying that considering D-Rays have a certificate of ownership of the Yankees this season with their 7-3 record against the yanks which includes 3 out of 4 in Tampa, and then 3 out of 4 in Yankee Stadium

the yankees have alan embreera...case closed.

It cost the Yankees nothing to get Embree so there is no down side. Worst case he pitches poorly and we release him, best case he comes in the seventh and buzzes Ortiz then strikes him out with a 95 MPH fastball and Boston fans scream about letting him go and getting nothing back.

That Yankee team wasn't playing like this one. The Sox easily could have lost 2 of 3 there and you guys have had a hard time with the D-rays for years.

I'll bet you EVERYTHING I own that Embree does not strike out Ortiz. The Yanks have no answer for Big Papi and I can only pray that Embree is still on your team the next time we play you

why would he be able to buzz a fastball by DO, when he couldnt buzz a fastball by anyone else in the game.

But it is true he does fit in to the staff as it looks now quite nicely.

Pitching:

S. Henn: 11.12 ERA

R. Johnson: 4.11 ERA

K. Brown: 6.50 ERA

J. Wright: 9.15 ERA

C. Pavano: 4.77 ERA

A. Embree: 7.82 ERA
