  1. I've got to agree with you. Unfortunately, I don't think Baltimore is on Manny's wish list, but i would be on mine.... We would get a better defensive shortstop and have a younger, similar righthanded power bat, for a longer guaranted time at less money. With the 5 million saved yearly, we could be sure to sign Damon or go after another productive outfielder. We could also possibly package Marte with one of our extra starters and get a really productive left fielder, who could more regularly play defense - maybe Huff from Tampa Bay, (plus another reliever), who can play both outfield and 1B, giving Tito some room to manage games. Maybe make it a 3-way trade, to get Manny on a team he okays.
  2. Excellent List...better Than Most Websites....thank You!
  3. I wish that people here would cut Edgar Renteria some slack. First year ever in the America league, facing pitchers he mostly has never seen before. He has a great attitude and once the pressure lessens (mostly what he puts on his own self) and he feels comfortable, this could be a great acquisition for the Red Sox.
  4. With all these great prospects, I tip my hat to Theo for all the trades that he did NOT make - it is true that sometimes the best trades are the ones that you don't make. With these prospects plus the talent that the Red Sox have now plus whatever they add in future free agency (like a good hitting/good fielding first baseman), they sould be set for a long time.
  5. Sorry I was unavailable for your trade, but I was out tinkling behind the wall.
  6. Report now in that the Red Sox have acquired Jose Cruz, Jr. for two minor leagers.
  7. Why not just do what Yankees always do: when you don't get your own way and everything isn't going just as you like it - BUY THE FORUM!
  8. hey give the Yankee fan credit for having guts, if not honesty or sense. If I were a Yankee fan, I would be way too embarrassed to open my mouth and say anything, knowing that "we Yankees" were spoiled brats that had an obscene payroll so much higher than everyone else's and still managed to underachieve the last four years and even this year are now roaming the scrap heap for guys like Leiter, Embree and Nomo, bcause we couldn't buy a pennant as is, despite our immense payroll. Even if the Yankees were somehow to win, what honest joy can come of it to an honest Yankee fan, because when you spend that much money buying up all the small market's talent, you are SUPPOSED to win! P.S.: Don't tell me about Yankee injuries - the Red Sox have yet to have their original starting rotation go this year in a five start span. If the Red Sox had remained healthy or had that extra $70 million to spend, the Yankees wouldn't be near them.
  9. I am glad to hear that there won't be any deal at all involving Ramirez, mainly because I think that Chuck LaMarr (Devil Rays) and Omar Minaya (Mets) are a couple of sheisters - which is putting it nicely. Manny Ramirez is far more talented than anybody mentioned in the group and these guys are trying to get both Ramirez and the Red Sox top prospects for relatively little in return, because they think they have the Red Sox stuck in a bad situation where they "have" to trade Manny. I'm glad if Theo doesn't give in. If the Red Sox really want to trade Manny, do it in the off season when there is no pressing need, but leave the Red Sox top prospects out of it. The Red Sox should be getting a lot just for Manny or he can just keep playing right in Boston. He has cried every year about being traded and he still will hit, because of his own pride. The Red Sox need to deal from strength, not desperation. We're getting by alright as is and will only get better when Foulke and Nixon return, Schilling gets healthier, Bradford and Gonzalez shake off the rust and these young guys for the bullpen (Delcarmen, maybe Hansen) get some work. The current bullpen of Gonzalez, Delcarmen, Timlin, Schilling, Myers and maybe one of these released guys out there will work for now. The present Sox still have as good a chance as anyone to win it all. If they have to trade someone, how about Shoppach & Millar for a decent hitting/fielding 1st baseman/outfielder like Huff or whoever. If they don't trade and don't win this year, they are in a lot better shape than a lot of other teams for next year - would you rather have the Yankees problems?
  10. Thanks for welcome. What do you think about the Red Sox trading Manny to Tampa Bay for Huff and Baez and then letting Tampa bay play with the Mets?
  11. A very bad joke. Manny alone is worth Huff and Cameron. The Mets are trying to steal the Red Sox blind.
  12. Totally agree. Manny alone is at least worth Huff and Baez. I see what Tampa is putting in and getting out of this trade, but I don't see what the Mets are giving up in order to get the best two players in this deal. I think the Mets had better ante up something else, like a good relief pitcher - oh yeah, don't have any. I may have gone for the trade if the Mets gave the Red Sox 3B David Wright and the Sox got huff or Cameron also.
  13. Just wanted to say hello to all other Red Sox fans. I am working in ministry/service here in Tallahassee, but still follow my New England teams with a passion.
