I'm sorry I just have to vent....who are these guys and what have they done with the Red Sox??? No motivation, nothing but underachievers, losing important games at home, starting off the second part of the season like s***.

I'm starting to wonder if this team is good enough to stay in it. I know they arent far out but something needs to change, someone needs to get traded, someone needs to get called up...i dont know.

The Sox get run over by Toronto, the Yanks, and Baltimore.....now Tampa Bay beats a dead Red Sox batting lineup??? If we cant hit then this is going to continue to get nasty cause our pitching is still mediocre at best.

I'm absolutly disgusted with the play of a supposed defending champion team...they left the door open and everyone has just walked in...

Feel free to step in anytime Theo

We are in a hitting slump, no doubt about it. That's all I can really say, each team goes through this kind of stretch a couple times a year. This is one of those times. Our hitting will be fine.

The Yankees are now losing and the Orioles are also tied in the 10th against the Mariners, so those games are not over quite yet. What is funny is that in a 3-hour span we could possibly go from first place to third in our division, and even out of the wildcard, it’s amazing. But of course it is only July, so really there is plenty of time to recover from this disaster. I think the whole team might still be riding an a emotional wave from breaking the so called "curse" last year. Not to mention all kinds of distractions there have been this season. I mean this team has been on television shows and players are making music CDs and doing concerts, not to mention the distractions that came with the whole coaching the All-Star game. Hopefully we can have a revival like we did last year, one big game that turns it all around. I mean last year it looked pretty grim, but we all know what happened. So, you just never know what can happen.

Everyone calm down. Theres no reason to freak out, and start having heart attacks. This team will be fine. Schilling looked very good tonight. Theres no way a lineup like this stays cold for long so I'm not worried about that.

Plus, think about it, the Yanks went on a big run earlier in the year, then a big losing streak. Just like our bats can't stay cold forever, mediocre pitchers can't win forever.

Take a deep breath, go smoke a cig, do something, just stop freaking out.

ok ok im taking my deep breathes.......and it helped.....i just wanted to vent cause i dont do it often...built up emotion breaks out once in a while haha......

yes we will be fine but im still seeing glaring holes in this team.....but i gotta ask....was anyone else SHOCKED Alex Cora got a few hits.....weiiiiird

fantastic hitting streak Johnny....very well done

Maybe the team could use a little spark. Maybe a little brawl...... it could happen.

If you want a brawl we're definatly in the right series for it. I believe 2 hit batters last night and Papi was almost hit. I figure the benches could end up clearing before this series is over.

Cora went down on a high and tight one too.

It's absolutely pathetic that this team had the bases loaded with nobody out with the 4-5-6 batters coming up and scored exactly 1 run... Scott Kazmir gave them a chance to bury him in the first inning and they let him out of it. With a guy like him, that was just the emotional boost he needed.

I blame Kevin Millar.... ;) (gotta blame someone, and since I hate his worthless ass... he seemed a perfect fit)

Exactly, don't want anyone hurt just a little more fired-up. We do have have to go play at CHi White Sox next series .

Although he is one of my favs I have to blame Manny. Bases loaded with no outs against a LHP and Manny hits into a double play.....i would expect at the least a fly ball to the outfield.

How come he is only hitting .189 against LHP???? seems a little odd

Doesn't make sense, he used to murder lefties. Unfortunately, we'll see lefties tonight and tom. afternoon.

Alex Cora is one of the men on the red sox roster who has been doing very well against lefties. So far 7 for 15 (.467 avg). johnny had a .364 avg, but after 0-5 stint last night, dropped some, jeez I think they shouldve just marked that error up as a hit for Johnny, a freebie at least

This is the Red Sox’s perfect storm: pitchers, bullpen, and hitters are all in or near a slump. This will not last for too long.

1-Manny has been in a slump for a while. Manny has not been playing the “Manny’s way”. He has been wasting his time watching videos, and replays (trying to be too cute) instead of practicing and I suspect this had something to do with his low batting average this year.

2-Olerud, Bellhorn and Foulke are all injured!

3-Theo had made the mistake of picking up guys who can’t hit: Stern(had only one ML hit), Corra(bat = .206), and Kapler(bat= .150). My viewpoint is: If a batter can’t hit better than .240, I would rather not see him in a Red Sox uniform! I hope Theo will make wise mid-season trades.

4-I really can’t blame Millar for this slump (he was good during Yanks series).

so many... consistencies in post... argh. first of all who said olerud was injured?? it is bellhorn, mantei, and foulke who were all having a such a bad year anyway compared to 2004 season. Youre complaining about Adam Stern just having one major league hit?? he just got called up to the majors for christ sake dude, and it has been limited at bats since tito is now starting to see trot can hit against lefties this season. Adam Stern has got the potential to be an all star someday, especially with that speed of his. Manny has picked up from his early slump, like hello since June 1 his average was hovering above .240, now its stayed consistent at .275 range, batting average means s*** right now since he has 24 homeruns and major league leading 84 RBIs.

And oh my god dont you dare go gettin on gabe kapler's back, complaining hes returning to the Sox. Do you know how different Japanses league baseball pales in comparison to the American League, pitchers over there dont ever throw fastballs, all American players who have gone oevr there to play baseball reach the same slumps.

Joe, a appreciate your passion, but have to take some serious exceptions :

1) Manny in a slump for awhile, when did this start ? Have you looked at his stats lately ?

Get real. Manny has never cared about how he looked. As a matter of fact, has never really cared about stats.By the way, do you have some secret source that tell what Manny is doing ?

2) Olerud hurt ? When did that happen ? So the other two are so what, it happens.

3) Guess what that is the quality of player you get when you "have" to trade players of little trade value. What do think other teams are going to say " sure give of your junk and we'll be happy to trade you are power hitting .300 + All Star.

3) Millar's okay. Why cause you like him. He's under performed and by your criteria dosn't belong in a Red Sox Uniform. Which I might agree with.

Before you make these kind of statement, put a little thought into what you're saying. Offer an reasonable alternative. By the way, welcome aboard.

The Good

1. Schilling is coming alive

2. Our farm system is almost ready to take off

3. We have the best 3-4 hitters in the game

4. Despite playing poorly we are still in the mix

5. Red Sox held 1st place for 25 days

6. Johnny Damon had a great hitting streak

7. We had many all stars

8. Still have the greatest fans in the world

9. Still the defending World Series Champions

The Bad

1. Millar is guaranteed to go back into another slump

2. Our rotation is full of average pitchers (all good nothing great)

3. Our bullpen is slowly being pieced together but missing the main ingredient (Foulke)

4. This team does not hit HRs the way it used to

5. Theo will struggle to make moves based on not wanting to mortgage the future

6. We lost our .218 AVG 2B and need a replacement

7. Cora, Stern, and Olerud are not Mientkewicz, Pokey, and Roberts

8. Dale Sveum is still on the team

9. Manny suddenly can't hit lefty pitchers

The Ugly

The New York Yankees have taken over the lead in the AL East after having a .500 record for almost half the season. Boston Red Sox have been owned in the AL East division which they led for a month.

Perhaps Schilling can whine and the umpires will change more calls.

What in the hell was that?

Had the umpires done the identical thing last night and cost Boston a run we would never see the end of it.

One of the worst umpiring decisions I have ever seen.

Yet the scrappy Devil Rays still won.

Lots of teams have won one in a row.

Red Sox vs. Devil Rays (4-3)

hmmm ???
