The moneyball philosophy of not wasting outs to get the 3-run dinger makes us take a lot of LOB's, plus it doesn't help when you make outs on the bases. Especially THIRD-OUTS Mirabelli.

Actually, instead of trading Youk, I would love to trade Mueller. We could do the classic "old reliever in the last year of a contract for the old hitter in the last year of a contract" swap. There's gotta be a billion options out there like that which allows us to keep Youk are our 3B of the future, which he really is.

By the way, I'm all for trading Shopp and Hanley in the right deal.

God f***ing damnit tonight is the last straw. YOUKS HAS TO START EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I DONT GIVE A CRAP WHAT YOU ARE PAYING MUELLER, AND HOW HE IS A VETERAN, BLAH BLAH BLAH. YOUKS IS CLEARLY THE BETTER PLAYER RIGHT NOW. THE GUY IS A STUD AND NEEDS TO PLAY! Damnit I'm glad I got that off my chest.

That was a fun series. It was not fun watching most of the first 2 games, but this last one was a fun game, mostly do to the funny line up that worked.

Wake had some production at the plate to help himself.

Youk showed everyone he should be the everyday 3B! What is taking so long to make this move? Trade Mueller for a reliever and make Youk 3B, just do it!

Impressive for an AL pitcher, thats for sure.

He used to be an outfielder, plus he played in the national league before coming to the Sox. He's had his fair share of at bats.

Who's going to give up a young relief pitcher for Bill Mueller?

No one's asking for a young relief pitcher. Hell, as soon as Craig Hansen signs, we've got one with dynamite stuff. I'm merely looking to swap Mueller for someone like Cliff Politte because Joe Crede sucks and the White Sox need a 3B. I was thinking along those lines. Not trade Mueller for Chad Cordero or something ridiculous like that.

Or would they more likely give up that guy for, say, Youk/Shopp/ and-or Ramirez?

Why are we going to mortgage the farm for a reliever? Youk, Shopp and Hanley is the kind of trade package you offer for a franchise hitter or pitcher.

But do you think Mueller for Politte or something is a move which benefits us, like I think we could get more than Cliff Politte for a player who was batting champ only 2 years ago.

It's pretty apparent that those days are in Mueller's past and I think everyone around the league knows that. He's a nice hitter and his OBP is around .390, but it has been inflated by Fenway and we really need to get Youk in the lineup everyday. He's torching the ball.

As far as Politte goes, he's been pitching excellently this year and it was just a name. We could look to the Padres for Scott Linebrink while Loretta is hurt and Burroughs sucks or we could look a bunch of ways. If anything, it'd likely end up being a one-for-one with some money going in one direction or the other.

This is true. He played for my family's home team (Pittsburgh) and as far as I know hes the only Sox pitcher on staff with a HR under his belt. All I meant was Id expect some of his power at the plate to bleed away after so long as a pitcher.
