Loooks like we may have some struggles in pitching this year. No.1 Schilling is not only turning 38 but just recently got surgery on his right ankle we need him in top form if we plan on goin back to the World Series. No. 2 RHP Wade Miller with a frayed rotater cuff. Can he make it through the season without having to go through the time consuming process of surgery. No. 3 Everyone is also putting pressure on David Wells who is almost 42 to replace pedro and do the things he's done. Any thoughts?

The surgical procedure that Curt had is hardly any more invasive than a simple dental procedure, and he'd most likely be stronger rather than weaker after a bit of exercise to get back in shape.

Uh huh, which is why he's taken as long to recover as a dental procedure, right? Oh wait............

Wade Miller is not the planned #2 starter as you said he has POTENTIAL to be but he's not really supposed to be thisknock out #2 starter another one of Theos low risk high payoff moves.

Whats up fools? It's been a while for me. Just echoing the "we'll be fine" sentiment that has already been thrown around a bunch.

The sox are bound to have a bunch of pitching problems this season. However, I do believe they will still find a way to win 90+ games. Its just a shame because the Yankees will find a way to win more than the Red Sox like every year. Here's the difference. The sox do not have the luxury of pedro martinez for 2 starts in a playoff series anymore. When it comes playoff time, the Yankees will not only have 5 capable starters and a formidable pen, but Randy Johnson who will be able to pitch 3 times in a playoff series with no problem. Ouch! The sox only have 1 dominant pitching force, curt schilling who is in much worse shape physically than johnson. The red sox do have a little bit of worrying to do, atleast in october.

How are Kevin Brown and Jaret Wright, "capable starters", but Matt Clement, Wade Miller and Bronson Arroyo aren't?

Since when do the Yankees even know what pitching is? Since you signed a 62 year old pitcher that abuses the media doesn't mean you can talk about pitching.

P.S. I thought your team would have figured out their place by now in the AL East...apparently not. Good luck keeping up. *snicker*

Whoa whoa...i never said the Yankees are scott free of pitching question marks (although i do believe their's are sizeably less)...i was simply stating that the sox will have problems that may hurt their chances. especially in the postseason due to the loss of pedro martinez which will leave them with a sharp decline after schilling.

and guys, you can verbally rough me up all you want. you guys have been sailing on this championship high very ignorantly. Don't expect the Yanks to lie down and beg for mercy this season...they're pissed. Bottom line is, the season starts in under a week and all of our talking will be meaningless.

The Red Sox may have pitching troubles at the beginning of the season, due to Miller and Schilling being out, but all together our pitching looks great and we should easily be fine by the postseason.

Matt Clement is going to step it up huge this season.

Matt Clement is a mystery to me. He may be extreamly good, and he may stink. As a Yankee fan, we from YankeeNation say, "The Sox wanted Pavano, they had to settle with Clement"

Just like last season we wanted A-Rod and had to "settle" for Schilling. Boy did that turn out great for you guys. (laughter)

Also to note, let's compare....

Pavano's ERA over the last 3 years: 4.53

Clement's ERA over the last 3 years: 3.79

But the point is, we will be fine.

I agree 100 %.

Sure our pitchers didn't have the best ST but remember Foulke last year. What did he have a 15+ ERA in ST then look what he did in the regular season.

I think Clement will have a good season. I think Wells with really do well. I think in time he just might win fans over. And we know Arroyo, Wake and Schilling. Arroyo has really matured as a pitcher and we can count on him for some good outings. Wake is Wake. He'll have his good and bad days. But that's the nature of a knuckelballer. And Schill is returning to form. As for Wade Miller. I think he will come back strong and be a huge asset to the pitching staff.

And I love our bullpen... Timlin, Embree, Mantei, Myers, Halama, Foulke.

I like our chances.

Ok, I'm gonna go out the limb here and add the fact that Randy Johnson is 42 years old... a credit to him for pitching so well last season, but its only a matter of time before that knee disentigrates. Not trying to start anything, just stating the facts. Older pitchers generally pitch better in the NL anyway... well pitchers in general.

Pavano is the only Yankee starter that really worries me. I don't like their bullpen. Do the Yankees really believe that Stanton and Gordon are going to get it done and Rivera is getting old. If Schilling comes back strong and Miller makes it back then I think we can win again.
