Wouldn't put too much stock in this just yet. If it comes out on MLB.com, or ESPN.com... that's different.

Right now a few guys on WEEI saying it doesn't mean much to me.

Also, how will adding $16 million in payroll for the next 3 years HELP efforts to retain Tek? It will make the need for a catcher greater and give the Red Sox less money available (in theory) in order to do so.

definately not worth it..

we pay trot 4.5 mill a year to be a top 5 player OBP wise. definately not smart to rid of that on top of the best backup catcher and a good prospect.. nahh, i'll pass

Id' pay 50 million dollars for 10 years out of my own pocket just to see the look on the yankees and their fans' faces. Holy crap, imagine what a blow this would be to their collective egos, even if there is not much truth to it.

It makes no ecomical sense really, I'd rather see money devoted to Wade Miller, but the shock value and pure hilarity of it all will make it worthwhile, even if Randy wouldn't do too well (as I expected him to not pitch well in NY if he did sign there).

i dont think this goin to happen Rj is goin to yanks or staying in arz

Staying in zona isnt an option anymore. They don't want him.

Rather get Wade, as Yeszir said, but yeah, it would be awesome to watch the Yankees fans turn the Dodgers into Public Enemy #1. RJ will likely win 20 on either the Sox or Yankees, but he'll likely have around a 3.50 ERA is my guess.

right now we're all dreamin supposedly...actually not all, but i like the looks of that. of course if we sign randy i have heavy doubts about wade. ill keep arroyo or wake in there and we still have a kickass rotation.

The Boston Red Sox have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with former Houston Astros pitcher Wade Miller.

Miller, who was 7-7 with a 3.35 ERA in 15 starts before going on the disabled list June 29 with a season-ending rotator cuff injury, passed a physical exam Wednesday in Boston and agreed to a contract with a $1.5 million base salary and $3 million in incentives. Agent Bob Garber said the deal will be finalized on Friday.

Los Angeles, Arizona, Oakland, Texas, Florida, Detroit, Kansas City and the New York Mets were among the other clubs that expressed an interest in Miller, who has a 58-39 record in five big-league seasons.

"The Red Sox were right on it from the beginning," Garber said. "They flew him to town and made him feel welcome. That's what Theo Epstein does. He makes players feel wanted, and they want to come here."

Garber said that he expects Miller to be ready to pitch by Opening Day. If that's the case, Miller will join Curt Schilling and new free-agent signees David Wells and Matt Clement at the top of a revamped Boston rotation.

However, I really like Wade Miller so that rules. I feel a little better about our rotation. Now we just need a catcher.

you think we will still get Randy Johnson now with 6 starting pitchers? Granted you can move Wake to the bullpen but if you get Johnson you need to trade Arroyo. What a mess but thats why Theo is the GM and not me.

did someone say theo is on his way to arizona?

if he is this deal could become reality soon which would be a great christmas present!

how about clement as our #5 pitcher! WOW!

theo=best GM in baseball!

Since when does he not? 2090, please post one (1) link that quotes Johnson on his disslike of Schill. Just 1 link with an RJ quote about him not liking Schilling. If you can do that, I'll give you credit. If you can't, pipe down.

I don't know why I hear this Schilling/Unit dislike.

When he got Schilling I remember Randy drove by Schilling's house on ESPN and screamed something and they shared a laugh.

And we're sorry that your team hasnt won since 2000. Psh.

But the Yankees have nothing to give to get him, ha ha.

A pro athlete will go where the money is. Schilling only "wanted to go to the Yankees" and he, well, came here and made our "dreams" come true.

get it through your head kid, they aint going to trade for him........... Although, a package of Youkilis, Shoppach (no need for him with tek signed for 4 more years) and a minor league pitcher like papelbon or jon lester (whom the diamondbacks want very badly)

I odn't really seethis happeneing every thing I have heard leads me to believe that RJ only wants to play for the Yankees. A million things come out of WEEI every day the onyt things I believe have any minor credibility unless it comes out of ESPN or MLB.com then you can believe something is happening. If the reports that Theo is going out to Arizona is true than something could be up but untill a credible source says that something isup I have to believe that RJ is only going to the Yanks.

Does anyone think this could become reality soon, since now Tek is signed just like WEEI said would happen?

anybody and their mothers could have guessed that. it's a 50 50 shot. either he signs or he doesn't sign..

the only credible source i'll use ever is espn, maybe mlb.com but they are usually slower than espn.
