They'll win they got their hottest pitcher pitching tommorow JOHN LEIBER, who's already at home sleeping, and I hate to say it because I have all the respect for Curt Schilling (who should have went back to Philly) he's hurt !!

Unlike many of the posters here, I really have nothing against Yankees fans. (That might be because I don't live in the Northeast.) Most of them just had the misfortune to be born into the wrong family, and it's hard to hold that against them. Of course, bandwagon fans don't get the same respect. But one of my best friends in the universe is a Yankees fan -- he grew up in Queens and he's an intelligent and devoted fan. Nothing wrong with that.

But I have to say that this post is hilarious. "Yankees in 6." "They just wanted to win it at home." Too funny! Seems to me that before Game 4 they were saying "Yankees in 4!"

Then it was "Yankees in 5!"

Now it's "Yankees in 6!"

Tomorrow night it will be "Yankees in 7!"

And after that, it will be "Yankees in 2005!"

The Yankees just got their souls crushed in 26 innings of 'whose-cojones-are-bigger?' baseball. I think all bets are now officially off.

That is true both games were demorilizing, maybe to their fans, but not the team. They have been up and down all year and still managed to pull it out down the stretch. What a lot of Red sox fans fail to realize is that these games were close ones, not blow outs. They bothed played hard and more likely than not the home team usually wins with these because they have last at bat. If the roles were reversed the Yankees would have won both games probably. Its a lot harder to get the lead in the 14th and then go out and play 3 more outs without the other team scoring or tieing the game. Ya know what ever the outcome is its been a hell of a series, hell its been a hell of a post-season for both leagues and whoever wins(which the Yankees at home they'll pull it out) both of these teams have nothing to be ashamed about. I have been a Yanks forever, born in Jersey and have liked them in the 80's so i am a true fan. If I could have my way this year it would be a Yankees vs Phillies World Series, because both teams rock.

You have to be kidding me. The Yankees easily could have won this game no problem. Our leadoff hitter could not even get a bunt down or even get a solid hit. The Yankees have choked the last two games and with the shape of their bullpen they dont really have much of a shot unless lieber goes 7.

DAVID ORTIZ FOR MVP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I think it's a distinct possibility this could end tonight, but I also think there's a chance this could go 7. It all depends on Schilling.

Jon Lieber has proven that he can be effective in the playoffs. He pitched well against Minnesota, he pitched BETTER against the Red Sox.

Schilling has GOT to match him inning for inning. A lot will depend on how much he's limited by his ankle. You fully expect the Yankees hitters to make him work.

Schilling is a warrior, so I'm putting some emphasis on Terry Francona, too. If Curt is ineffective, even if he still THINKS he can do it, Terry's got to yank him. YES, the bullpen is tired. YES, Curt's the best pitcher he's got... but if he's throwing like he threw in game 1... we're better off with someone else.

This has been a good series so far. I'm excited that the Red Sox have battled back to at least make a series out of it.

Sheffield was quoted in the Boston Herald saying the Red Sox are "a walking disaster. They act like they are tough but it's all a front. They're just a bunch of characters."

Who's the idiot....?

a win's a win yankeesdrool, and it's jon lieber, mister big yankee fan...you probably would taken more seriously if you could spell the player's names correctly but that said.

It is Francona's call...all the way...els..amnd I am hoping he suddenly and out of nowehere finds the hairy nuts to walk out to the mound and tell schill whether to stay in or come out. I dont think we can afford one of those let the pitcher decide moments.

We all know Curt would try and take the ball even if he lost feeling both legs and his arms and had to roll the ball in with his chin.

I hate sheffield.

go schilling.

What do you expect from Gary Sheffield? He's an incredible hitter, I'll give him that, but he's always been an *******. He's always been that kind of guy to open his mouth when it wasn't wanted or necessary, and this is no different.

He trash talks before every Yankee/Red Sox series. That's his personality.

I really hope this helps motivate our beloved Red Sox to a dramatic series win.

Yes you are right the Yankees could have easily won both games, but so could Boston they could have easily won games 1 and 2. So I don't want to hear that. Our leadoff hitter is in the same boat as yours he hasn't gotten anything going when it comes to hitting either. Whatever shape the Yankees bullpen is in it is not has bad of shape as the Red Sox bullpen is. After the last three games at Fenway their bullpen was better but I think if it came down to switching pitchers in and out like the last two games the advantage would have to go to the Yankees. Don't worry Lieber will go seven. Flash in the 8th, Mo in the 9th.

Posted

I hope you're right, yankeesdrool....Flash sucks, and Mo has blown two saves in a row...

Medoza and leskanic both didnt pitch last night, and Myers has pitched about 9 pitches in two games...We still have arroyo, lowe will be available, and wakefield of course can pitch.

Our bullpen is fine.

Yankees used 'em all lst night Mo has never picthed 2 innings like that back-to-back.

I am not quite sure Yanksdrool has a clue what he is talking about ...But whatever.

Go sox.

Kick ass..

Hey sarasoxfan,

let's try not to insult other posters? I know it's difficult sometimes, but it doesn't do anyone any good.

I disagree that the Yankee bullpen is in BETTER shape than the Red Sox 'pen. All year long, the Yankees had 3 good relievers: Gordon, Quantrill, and Rivera. Rivera's still very very good, but Quantrill and Gordon have been shaky at best in this series.

As a result, Torre's been forced to go to Rivera more than he'd like, and Rivera's been worked hard. He's thrown in 4 of the 5 games so far. As a Red Sox fan, the only reliever I don't look forward to seeing is Rivera, and even he hasn't dominated the Red Sox this season. Even in the games he DID save, the Red Sox had the tying run come to the plate.

The Red Sox are hurting too, but they've outperformed the Yankee bullpen in both of the last two games. The Red Sox have an advantage over New York when it comes to overworked bullpens, because guys like Keith Foulke and Tim Wakefield don't tax their arms as much because they aren't power pitchers. Guys like Tom Gordon who throw 95MPH (and frankly, NEED to throw 95MPH) don't recover as quickly.

I'm not saying the Red Sox bullpen is in great shape, because it's not. BUT I wouldn't be so quick to say the Yankee bullpen is better off.

Well I'll give ya one thing Sarasoxfan. You are a Red Sox fan. I just hope you are not setting yourself up for another dissapointment. Ya know one day The Red Sox will win it all and they'll say that that red Sox team is the greatest team in history just remember one thing.

World Series Champions

Yankees=26

Red Sox=3 (and all before the 20's)

Red Sox bullpen is not fine, they are tired even Wakefeild was qouted as saying it took all that they had just to win both games and there just lucky to get to a game six. Sounds like to me there's nothing left. I don't care what there saying about Schilling, he's hurt and he's not the same pitcher he was before this series. He may pitch better then game one but, he's still injured and even with the boot he can't have the same velocity. ya know it looks like it may be another rain delay.

i have to stick up for the Yanks in this board

s*** like this is why Red Sox fans hate Yankees fans.

When you've got nothing useful to say, you bring up the fact that the Yankees have won 26 world championships, or just say "1918."

Please never post that crap on this board again. It's petty, stupid, and nobody needs to hear it. We understand that historically your team has had more success than ours, but this post just makes you sound like every other ignorant Yankee fan.

The Red Sox have won 5 world series, just to let you know you fool yankees fan (not you yankees228). Sheesh, and yankee fans claim to know baseball. They can't even get the figures straight when attempting to make a cliched and overused argument.

i'm very interested to know what the red sox fans think schilling can give them tonight, because i'm pretty worried that schilling can shut down the yanks

boston has won five world series, but the red sox have only won 4 i believe because 1 of those world series victories was in 1903 when they were the boston pilgrims

I honestly have no idea how long Schill can go or what kind of stuff he'll have. I would say 6-7 innings, 3 runs is my best-case scenario. Worse case scenario is a repeat of game 1.

There was spin after his last start in NY that he was too numbed up.. I've had tendon problems (minor ones), and I don't think a shoe can fix the "snapping" of the tendon he's talked about. And being "too numb" to feel the pain sounds like a made up excuse. I guess we'll all see in an hour or so.

What's the weather like in NY? I don't think I can take another 5 hour/rain delayed game. I'm still trying to kick the hangover from yesterday  .

and you shuold, but when you say the sox bullpen is in worse shape then the yanks bullpen you make the yanks look bad. we have gotten to your bullpen, thats where we are getting our runs.

our bullpen has pitched ABOUT 14 SHUTOUT INNINGS. the yanks bullpen hasnt matched, and at the same time have been just as tired as us.

yanks fans are a bunch of thugs. they claim to be more civilized then red sox fans but have you see the 20 riot police on each foul line. that would not happen in boston.
