  1. I think Cora has checked out. There’s a lot of streaky bats in this lineup up and not one legit 300 hitter. Not one legit 30hr bat and too much reliance on young players in their first year or two of MLB with no proven track record. Henry may have a high AAV but his real money spent is around 180ishM with all his backloaded deals. So realistically he can go over and cover the REAL money spend and still be under as far as out of pocket goes. Then after 2027 the payroll drops off a cliff and he can reset again. He’s a cheap ass. I really hope something happens where he sells. I doubt it, but one can still pray 🙏 it happens.
  2. I would have had Yoshida leading off with a 400 obp over a week ago. Same with Contreras and abreu before they started cooling off. Cora stuck with cold bats too long. If I’m Breslow? I quit because I’m in over my head. Stick with pitching and lead that dept. ..Realistically though, we NEED a legit big bat, but the boss is a cheap ass. Bres put together a bunch of guys with 240-270 BAs, which can get you a lot of streaky hitters. Nobody to really fear with all the free swinging going on too. Defense hasn’t been much better and what was supposed to be a dominant starting staff has been mediocre. It’s still early but this team now has to go about 600 the rest of the way to make last years record. I don’t see that with this group and Cora leading this team. I’m not optimistic.
  3. So this is what we can expect moving forward from John Henry now.? This team is a mess and are hard to watch. 6B man and he pinches Pennie’s. Sell the team loser.
  4. Hey Moon, yeah, He’s stubborn about that. I would’ve done it a week and a half ago. I wish this team had a real threat in this lineup. Expect lots of streaky ABs with this mediocre lineup regardless.
  5. Finally Abreu and Contreras with bat in the first inning. Two best hitters so far should be up in inning 1. Good move by Cora
  6. I have them in fourth place with about 84 wins.
  7. We will have to either draft or stock up on starting pitching to trade for a young legit 30hr bat under control since our clown owner won’t go 30m per for one. We’ll have to win with pitching most nights now since we don’t have one guy who has hit 30hr in a year. We’ll have a LOT of 240-270 type hitters so it’s a very streaky lineup with nobody who strikes fear in any MLB starter, I don’t see more than 84ish wins. I hope I’m wrong, but this team doesn’t have that good vibe. Breslow has put together an unbalanced lineup and Cora seems like he’s checked out.
  8. God I hope so. He’s looked good out of the pen. Back before the navel academy he was throwing 98 with command of 3-4 pitches. His fb velocity is more 95ish now last I saw I believe…or has it got back to upper? Can’t remember… Either way, I was happy he was returned and has a chance to make the show.
  9. Thanks! I was on the old globe forum about a decade ago. When it went down everyone scattered. A lot of names ended up here. Good to be back amongst loyal and knowledgeable Sox fans.
  10. He’s 19 with a big future ahead of him. Not fond of some of Breslows move but the dude is smart to load the farm with pitching. Not saying I would trade Valera but If the owner is going on the cheap for a legit power bat, then the next best way is to trade good pitching for a controlled young bat.
  11. Afternoon gentlemen, I’ve been really high on Eyanson. Great control and command of his pitches, with 4 that he has shown he can command with consistency.. Good size and makeup. I could see him being better then the mid rotation starter he’s listed at right now. Looking forward to possibly watching him pitching in Fenway in a couple years.
  12. Haha, I meant the deadline not AS break
  13. Yeah, I agree. Maybe another late inning arm that misses bats. I would guess if they do make a move in the pen it'll a name nobody expected who doesn't cost much. I don't see them spending a lot. Only 4 games left to gain ground. At the very most they could get to 6 games out. Providing NYY lose the rest of their games up to the break.
  14. Its looking like it. About time. Really making the NYY look bad this series. Do you see another move by the deadline if this team sweeps and then keeps it going with the Rays? And what move if yes?
  15. Cashner has been a solid #5 pick up and this offense is really hitting on all cylinders now...Pitching as a whole has been better. Hopefully it can finally ALL come together this year...
  16. Dalbec seems like the typical low avg good obp big slg/ops and a ton of whiffs kinda hitter. If he can tighten it up a bit more they can Put him @1b. Not sold on Ockimey yet. Really either one yet but Dalbec seems more likely to me. I think JBJ will not be offered arb or traded and Beni switching back to his normal cf position. Jury is still out on Duran. Has had a solid year all around and an MiL AS appearance this year, but I still haven't jumped on his bandwagon just yet. Casas is another interesting prospect to watch. Lots of power there, and really a solid all around game. Another corner guy. We have a bunch of those types right now. We still have some good talent in the upper levels on the farm. Some interesting names in the lower levels to watch too. My only complaint is Id like to see more homegrown starting pitching. Our current roster is filled with young, mostly home grown talent position players that have been steadily coming up since 2013 with lots of success and We have a top payroll to sign a lot of them. I really like the future for the Sox.
  17. DH has great stuff. that's been his thing though. lack of control and consistency. Hopefully Eovaldi can help balance things out down there because i really don't see this team making a BIG move unless they're within 4-5 games by the deadline.
  18. Hey bud! Hope you've been doing well. Yeah, its the human element. Your “best” varies from day to day. Obviously the physical issues they all go through are there, but How we/they think and feel have a LOT to do with everything, not just baseball. Even guys who seem very balanced emotionally can struggle with this game. I think the offense overall has played good enough to win many more games. The starters have been off, but have been a little better as of late. Now, the whole collection of failed starters and misfits in the bullpen was a terrible idea from the word go. Having no closer was doomed from the start IMO. We have 100+m committed to starting pitching(Eovaldi included), so they're not going to go get another 20-30m starter this year. Its been a mess this year for sure, but its certainly not over. Theres enough talent here to win. Thats a fact. Guys like Betts and JD are underachieving so far, but guys like Devers, Vaz, and Chavis have taken a step forward with their development. Hopefully it all comes together. Im not ready to sell off big names just yet. I think theres enough time and talent to get it going. Come the end of July/start of august I may have a different opinion.
  19. My boy should be going to the ASG this year. Shame he isnt. Hes having an amazing year.
  20. I got tons of love for my boy Vaz. Been singing his song since AA and now after the TJS and hand issue last year we are seeing the AS catcher he truly is. on BOTH sides of the game. Ill be honest, I didn't expect the bat to be this good this quick. He deserves to be in the ASG this year. No doubt
  21. He absolutely deserves it. It would be a shame for him to get snubbed....like Devers and Vaz.
  22. Unfortunately that kid hasn't been able to find the plate this year. Ridiculous amount of free passes. NOT the kind of thing you want to see. Maybe as a “let it fly” for an inning bullpen arm he may do better. Im not holding my breath though. They need a legit guy who can miss bats. Im not sold on NE yet, but With him already throwing and not being stretched out to start, he could be back sooner than we think. Im with you though. I hope they don't rush him. Even with Eovaldi returning at some point, IMO They still need another arm that has had better success down there. Internal or outside the organization. Not sure we have it internally.
  23. So we didnt want to pay 18m for a closer...aaaand now after a complete, and predicted meltdown of the Bullpen, weve got our closer for....18m Funny how that worked out. We have a group of failed starters that are not consistent enough to be reliable in a tight situation. Even when the starters are good, which for the most part they have been over the last month, the bullpen kicks the pooch more times than not. They may be tired but thats one of the many reasons running a BP this way has never worked. They need to go get another late inning arm that misses bats to go along with Eovaldi
  24. Guys have down seasons and this is certainly one for Mookie. Good thing his “bad” season is still well above a lot of MLB OFers. That, and his popularity is sky high, which we all know plays into the voting big time. Especially the GG. Anyway, the kids a stud and should be fine. If he wants 300m he needs to figure it out and step it up the rest of the year and next.
