  1. Very true. I hope we can make this work somehow.
  2. no worries, I get what you’re saying.. I mean, I admit I can go a bit overboard sometimes. Though my point is valid. a lot of times we seem to agree but come at it from different directions and sometimes it seems there’s a disagreement when there is not much of one at all. if everything improved so much then how come we’re in this situation? We can say injuries and that would be valid. We can also say that there is not enough MLb ready starters in the org. Right now that can help out because he traded all of them. Also valid. We can also say it was a dumb idea to rely totally on often injured guys like Sandy Houck Oviedo and Crawford like he did. Valid. main complaint from me that we both agree on (I think)🤔 is that we could have used a starter more than a catcher for a playoff run. It seemed he didn’t even bother with it much which was odd to me. If we have a lockout then that Adley deal is going to look bad. I’m not as confident going into the playoffs as I was.
  3. Who said anything about Harrison being a horse? All these guys were nothing but depth for me.. if any of them worked out in the rotation, then great, but they were depth in my eyes. That’s it. He got rid of a bunch of healthy arms and relied on a bunch of often injured players to carry this team through this year and every one of them got hurt again. He had a chance to get a starter at the deadline and he failed instead he overpaid for a catcher. he should have got a starter with those players. I guarantee a starter would have helped this team more than Adley will.
  4. Only Bennett. Maybe Tolle, but he should be ok. Might have just see where he’s at come the end of September. Harrison had plenty of IP so he would be fine. Drohan may have hit one around the same time as Tolle. bennett had TJS so that’s obvious.
  5. That’s why we needed a starter at the deadline. At least Harrison and Drohan were MLB ready. Nobody we have really is anymore. They just made it to AAA. Those two were at least ready for the show or in Harrison’s case, already had some time.
  6. Not what I meant. I meant what pitchers did we acquire to replace the ones we let go. All the depth. Who replaced Early? Was he relying on a bunch of guys who have been injured to come back strong this year? Houck Sandoval and Crawford should not have been relied on until they proved they were 100% healthy. he got rid of a half dozen guys and then Early. Oviedo, not his fault, but still yet another arm needing to be replaced that wasn’t. Some trades were good as we discussed but some made no sense. It wouldn’t have been my plan going into this season. bottom line is we needed another starter at the deadline with all the issues/concerns in our rotation. He kicked the pooch.
  7. I’ll give him that. I’d rather nobody than May again. there were a few mid level guys we could have got if I remember.
  8. Yes, that’s what Breslow wanted. He should have listened to me…Obviously 😜
  9. That’s all I heard…haha, we got him when the NYY wanted him. We stopped Adley from going to NY. We had the chance to get a starter and have less worries than we have now and we didn’t. Breslow chose a catcher.
  10. What pitchers did he add that are going to help us with the playoffs this year? don’t say Bennett cause he’s about done. And Sandoval will probably have his issues before the years over. he traded away everybody that was ready to be called up. There is now literally nobody that is ready to come up that anyone trusts in a playoff run. we needed a solid arm like we did when we got Jake Peavy in 2013. Veteran who’s been there and can get us through aug/sept dog days. We NEEDED that this year. breslow FAILED to do that.
  11. That’s what I’m saying but it seems some people keep defending everything he does. It made zero sense to NOT get a starter and instead give away a bunch of top prospects to keep Adley from going to NYY.
  12. My whole point was they needed a starter in the rotation NOW. Not this offseason, NOW. the upcoming innings pitch limits are real. they needed a starter this year and they didn’t get one at the deadline . at the end of September you’ll all wish they got a starter instead of Adley. He wasn’t more important than the rotation
  13. Even if early doesn’t pitch another inning this year for another team, we still needed to replace them here. They didn’t. I don’t mind the trade for Mead, but It just seems Breslow does this kind of crap with trades. Why trade all of our depth And early if you weren’t going to replace him with something comparable? Teams were jealous of our pitching depth and we could just call up the next guy. Now we have to piece games together like a low budget organization with guys like Gamboa. How could they not get a starter? It was such a painfully obvious need. Teams with the best Starting pitching wins in the playoffs.
  14. Sandoval Tolle and Bennett all have legit concern to hit a wall. I’ve complained all year about trading away every last bit of pitching depth..with pushback. we trade Early and never replace his IP with something comparable? Sandoval? An opener and Bello? Please🙄 The rotation got worse. Why in Gods name, with IP limits and durability within the starting rotation lingering over their heads, do they not even attempt to get a starter? We actually may have to have an opener in the playoffs. Not ideal. Think About it. What if the worst case scenario happened and Tolle hit his wall, along with Bennett. and Sandy was pretty much useless after a two year layoff. I just think it was incompetent at best to not take this into consideration and get a starter at the deadline..
  15. Theyre resting a couple pen arms for a couple weeks. We can always call up guys for the pen. They’ll be back mid September. Hopefully. If not then we have options. No, not the best, but better than what we have for the rotation…which is nothing. im hoping Crochet and Tolle can go to the pen for the playoffs. At least Crochet. It’s gonna be tricky for sure.
  16. At least we got a big LHP which is what we needed. I think we can take care of the pen easier than the rotation.
  17. Me either. I think Tolle will be able to go through September or very close though, whereas Bennett won’t.if anything Tolle will be a pen arm come October
  18. He was rushed back, I agree. If you’re not going to address your most important need at the deadline, at least get a guy that doesn’t have to rehab and get his timing back.
  19. Instead of getting a catcher that has gone 1-14 with 7 Ks, something Narvaez could have done just fine, we should have used those assets on a starter. Do you guys really think a catcher was more important this year than a starter? I like Adley, and the trade in general, but he wasn’t the most pressing need in my opinion. Pitching was. It’ll be even more obvious as the end of September approaches. Bennett is starting to hit the wall, at least it’s starting to look that way. Tolle looks strong, thank God. Sandoval and/or Bello will HAVE to step it up because there’s no help on the way. I complained that Breslow got rid of all our pitching depth, and I got a lot of pushback. I figured Breslow had to be an idiot to go get ANOTHER bat before getting a starter, even after Mead went down. But he did. The deadline wasn’t bad, they just didn’t address the most important need. Starting pitching. I hope these guys don’t ruin either one of these young starters after not getting this rotation the help it absolutely needed. Bennett is about 45ip over last year, which is right around shutdown time. They aren’t machines and he looks like he’s running out of gas. Pitching tired leads to injuries and/or bad performances. Neither one is good.
  20. Well I am confident, from my managerial couch, that he won’t be a starter in the playoffs. but honestly, he’s already at 40ip over last year and There’s a month and a half to go before the playoffs. Do you believe they will just let him go until he can’t, or do you think he has a limit that they have discussed? He’s a big boy but he’s also a little over a year from returning from TJS. of course the team knows more than me, and I hope those two young arms are made of rubber and can go 80ip each over last years innings without any issues. I’m not so much concerned with Tolle as zi am with Bennett. I do now think Tolle could possibly start in the playoffs. I misread his ip. He’s only 22ip over last year.
  21. I just don’t want the kids arm to have issues. Both him and Tolle. I’m ok with pushing it some, but they need to be careful with Bennett. That’s all I’m saying. Tolle has a longer leash for sure. And I’d have liked them to pick up another starter. It was a good deadline where they addressed up the middle catcher and bullpen. IMHO they absolutely needed a starter.
  22. I understand that, but Are those guys coming off TJS just a year ago? Bennett will not be a playoff starter.
  23. being a little snarky are we?😜 Bennett is going into today’s game at 116ip which is 41 more ip than last year. Most baseball people will tell you that 40ish ip past the prior years total is where they usually cut these young guys off, especially a little over a year returning from TJS in Bennetts case. They may push him a little but he’s NOT part of the playoff rotation. Tolle may last longer since there’s no injury and he’s a big boy who can handle a big ip load. so I imagine he could finish the season as a starter or come close. He’ll probably be a pen arm for the playoffs as well. it’ll be Gray Suarez Sandoval, with Bello hanging around, as it stands right now as our playoff rotation. sorry but I’m not incredibly confident with this. There were many low cost options to go get. I hope the guys they just promoted to AAA, Holobetz/Wehunt are ready for the show, and I hope the offense can get going again and stay there. With that said… Arias needs to come up. There’s zero for him in AAA. Like Devers and Xander, the rest of his development can happen in MLB. Anthony returning and Arias getting the call would be a nice boost this team could use.
