Not entirely excited about this. He’s been hurt for two years and is currently on rehab for a wrist injury. Yay. He hasn’t come close to living up to the hype. I hope we didn’t give up much for him.

I’m in on Mize. No on the other two.

Just heard Anthony took some ABs yesterday swinging a bat. So now we wait to see how much, if any, discomfort he has. If he’s good to go by September that will help a ton.

I’m not big on a catcher either. To me that’s an offseason or early season move. I don’t want to disrupt any of the starters. We can add offense elsewhere. a good starter is the biggest need right now and then a bat with some power. I agree if it’s SS it should be short term because of Arias, unless of course Arias is involved in a trade. I’ll take another bullpen arm if they can. Nothing expensive…Never hurts

It’s more of a personal reality check I’m having today. I’m sure everyone is aware of this teams situation before this weekends very important trade deadline. So am I and this was what I’ve been thinking about. What I’m referring to is the Sox injury situation for some pretty important players and how to handle this weekend. We have a bunch of holes to fill. Crochet hasn’t thrown yet and even after a 6-8 week timetable, he will need full game rehab starts. That’s brings him into October even if he starts the program next weekend. Anthony hasn’t taken one swing yet. The last I heard was it’ll probably be a few more weeks until that happens, then another few to fully rehab. So he’s likely done for the season since they will not take any chances with him. Tolle/Bennett Ip limits. Bennett will be treated with caution seeing this is his first full year back from TJS. Tolle has a bit longer leash, but still has one. Sandoval is looking better back from a long vacation., I wonder how much is in the tank after two years off. I like what I see from him though. We just got rid of an important starter, Early, who will be returning soon for a now injured Curtis Mead who broke his wrist. He has the better news of the injured players on the IL because it should be a 6-8 week return in time for the playoffs if all goes well. But it’s a wrist so there probably won’t be a lot of power right off, so there’s that. Story had an 8-12 week timetable which puts him at the end of September on the later side or end of August at the earliest. As of this postI doubt he’s much of a factor this year. So those are the major injuries we have going on right now. Do we sell the farm to keep up with the other teams? Can we get away with plugging in Arias and finding another starter and a bullpen arm? Maybe use some prospects for a couple starts? Eyanson? I understand I was caught up in selling the farm for a ring, but we have a bunch of real holes to fill. Reality set in. we would still have the black holes at catcher 2b and LF to fill…that’s still a lot of holes to fill. There’s a bunch of guys on the market that are requiring a hefty price. As always your system could take a major hit. And that’s ok if done right. all I’m saying is that if we sell the farm, we better get guys with years of control in case we don’t win it all this year so it wasn't all for nothing. Ill send as much good mojo Breslows way this weekend…

Kids been raking in AA and he’s still hitting bombs inAAA off ML pitchers. I’d call his azz up and let him rake here. There isn’t a book on him yet. We did it with Bogey and Devers and BOTh worked out brilliantly. i think they like the kid, especially seeing the results of the work they’ve put in with him. I hope he’s not traded unless the name coming back is Witt or DeLaCruz

Due diligence As long as we keep Arias. I wouldn’t give up a ton for him. Couple prospects. We would have a good leadoff guy with a good bat and solid D at SS.

Why did I think he was RH? Ok, this kind of changes things for me. how the F did I miss that? A lot of my thought was based on him being a RHB. I must have looked at the wrong one. Throw/bat.

He was about ready to have a couple rehab starts. Was throwing from 120 ft last week. That’s usually the final step before you have live batting practice than a rehab. He’ll probably pitch this year as long as there’s no setbacks.

I’m all in on him. Add Griffin too for a nice rental starter who’s having a solid year. headlined by Arias and another top 10 player and maybe one of our MLb starters and a lower level player?

My trade proposal for Abrams is a great starting point…well, at least in my opinion it is😜

Hard pass? Why? Bennet will not be available for the playoffs and probably September anyways with his IP limits. We get a rental who’s as good this year as Bennett is, for down the stretch that doesn’t have an IP limit…I’m sure we can get another starter this offseason. if you want Abram’s we’re going to have to get uncomfortable. But he’s a proven stud at SS for the long term. If they’ll take Eyanson instead or Eyanson and say Valera, I’d do that too… like I said…it’s a good starting point. I want to win this year. If Bennett or any other pitcher not named Tolle will make it happen, then I’d do it.

Nationals get Franklin Arias Jake Bennett Justin Gonzalez Marcus Phillips 2x lower level players RED SOX get CJ Abram’s Foster Griffin it’s at least a good starting point Washington gets a haul (including Bennett back, looking much better at the MLb level) and the Sox get a rental for the stretch and their SS for the next few years and hopefully lock up long term.

I never mentioned Castillo nor would he be my first choice. Gray and Suarez are the two guys who I have no concerns about in the rotation.. Tolle/Bennett, IP limits. Sandoval is still coming off a two year break. Bello is Bello and Crochet is not even on the radar as far as a possible return timetable. Early is now gone and Breslow traded away all our pitching depth, so we need to find someone competent who can replace Early. we can find someone better on the open market, and should. we got Jake Peavy in 2013. A starter like that. He wasn’t a top guy anymore, but he was a bulldog that gave you good competitive innings and some passion on the mound and clubhouse. A vet that’s been there before.

It’s all about room on the active roster…bullpen or AAA if there are options. We NEED a starter. Whatever we have to do to make it happen

The bullpen was the other option. I wasn’t sure so I mentioned both possibilities. Bottom line is we need another starter and should trade for one and make it all work

I go get a starter and put Sandoval and Bello back in AAA or the pen until needed again in the rotation when the young arms hit their limits…we’re going to need another starter at some point this year. A healthy Gray and Suarez is all we will have when Tolle and Bennett hit the wall. We NEED another arm. IM sticking with what we currently have at SS. I don’t want Neto. Especially if it costs Arias. I may also call the kid up. Pena has been taken off the market as of right now and would cost a lot as well. if they can get Jeffers I like his bat if they’re looking for another one. Won’t cost as much. I think we have enough in house to add to the pen if need be so another starter, mid back rotation type. We had a few but Breslow sold them all so here we are. In 2013 we got Peavy. that’s the kind of starter we need this year again. Innings eater that can rest the other arms. I’m NOT relying on Crochet at this point in time. Go get another arm.
