  1. We don't really do that. Last year was different with the Devers trade and Yoshi's injury and rust. But in 2024, Duran, Abreu, Romy & Casas combined for 7 ABs. The 4-OF issue aside, we mostly just do some R/L platooning, but not resting. In 2023, Yoshida & Turner received 561 of the 630 ABs.
  2. Good point/never thought of it. That will change all the estimates.
  3. If he hits like is was supposed to, the he can get regular reps as a short-side DH platoon, a backup LF, and an emergency 2B. That provides value, and he can work on his 2B skills in winter ball. 2 years ago, Romy was scary at 2nd, and now he is borderline okay. Or at least unnoticeable.
  4. That's the mystery meat. Maybe someone else can explain it, but my understanding is that you have contracts, arbitration, and pre-arb. Contracts are probably perfect, and arbitration is probably 95%+ good. So let's say you have 12 goes under contract, and 6 guys under arb. We know that number. That leaves 8 guys that are 0-3 years. Wouldn't the calculation be 8 * $820,000 plus some smaller additions for year 1, 2, and 3? I would think so. But is there a minimum you can pay a minor leaguer if you bring him up for, say 10 days?
  5. I have a good friend that knows a lot about real BB, and still thinks KC can be a 2B. The problem is the RS have to pick a lane for him.
  6. They needed a non-40 guy is all. Most of these 'low-40' guys are interchangeable.
  7. IMHO, a slight overpay by the NYM, but they were desperate for a #1 SP. They have some talent in the rotation, but it would be difficult to call any of them even a #2.
  8. In the last 15 games, Campbell had 2 doubles, -0- triples, -0- HRs, with a 19/6 K/W. I really wish he had finished strongly.
  9. Thank you. I'm just addressing Ceddanne as a plan for 2B, along with the Duran chatter. Duran played RF last year, but it's not a real thing.
  10. I'd also throw in that, in the playoffs, the elite SPs throw more innings relative to the regular season.
  11. By necessity. Romy was playing 1st, and DHam was not going to be trusted starting against lefties. Once Lowe came on board, Ceddanne mostly went back to CF. Last 2B start was on 8/24 (?). And only had 76 ABs there, but the .309 OPS probably didn't help. I'm almost certain that we either get a 2B/3B from the outside, or we platoon Romy/DHam.
  12. As did the Phillies, even though most of it was in-house Klentak guys. NYY $90M on Cole, Fried, Rendon Phillies $84M on Wheeler, Nola, Walker, traded for Luzardo and #1 on Painter LAD $108M on YY, Glasnow, Snell and Ohtani prorated RS $74M on Crochet, Gray, Suarez As a % of payroll, it feels like the top teams spend the same as we do on pitching.
  13. It wouldn't be worth it. FG projects Masa at .765 and Suarez at .755. A righty helps, and a possible backup 3B, maybe. But we shouldn't spend $20M for that. If we sign Suarez, it has to be for 3B.
  14. I see no chance of that happening. Compared to a platoon of Romy/DHam, I don't see Raffy as an improvement offensively or defensively.
  15. I'd have no problem cutting him at an appropriate point, but my guess is that his bounce back value is higher than his trade value. RPs bounce back every single year.
  16. I'm a Raiders fan. We hate everyone. Some more than others.
  17. He had to go. They had choice between starting Gray & Suarez at SP & 3B or starting Gray & Suarez at 3B & SP.
  18. The 3rd option is that they don't even have a lineup yet. Probably a moot point now that they traded for Robert. Another move I don't get.
  19. I prefer to keep Abreu, but starting Anthony in RF is still a very good fit.
  20. I like both guys, just not for the RS. Arri caught my eye with his K-BB% in 2024, but has been injured since, plus the FB%. Meyers is a nice choice for a team with sluggers in the corner slots, but is duplicative of Ceddanne's skills.
  21. I hate the Pats, but kudos. Just like with the Bears, the FO did a lot more than just draft a good QB. Both assembled a really good team around their QBs.
  22. Not in rebuild mode, but they don't have any obvious fit for Paredes. He definitely isn't playing 3B. They have Altuve at 2nd, with Matthews backing him up. They have Walker at 1st. Paredes is probably better than both, but I cannot imagine Houston benching either. And Paredes is too talented to sit on the bench.
  23. There are no elegant formulas for this, but adding Paredes for minor leaguers will make it more of an apples-to-apples comparison on added cost v added WAR.
  24. The assumption being that we could've gotten both Bregman and Alonso. Just imho, we received a similar WAR/$$$ (less WAR and less $$$) but are getting players aged 30-34 & 34-35 as opposed to players aged 32-36 & 31-35. I think our commitments will age better.
