    I don't want to Burn the Chandle on both ends. But seriously, I want to build a staff comprised of 4 #1-2 SPs. With several teams in need of a CF, and with us having some high-quality redundancies, I think this is an opportune moment to acquire some more good young pitching. We have 4 good pitching prospects, but I'd like to acquire more certainty.

    I remember taking the kids on cruises. When they were younger, my daughter only ordered spaghetti with butter. The cruises were great, but it made me wince spending a decent amount of money and she ordered a 25-cents meal.

    I've seen 1000s of these suggestions over the years, as well as suggestions on FAs. The biggest mistake is usually on the receiving end. I mean, I wouldn't expect a Brewer fan to know the RS situation in detail, but I at least do some a modicum of research. Even on this site, there is an article about acquiring Devin Williams. IIRC, we had the #2 BP ERA, have Chapman at closer and Whitlock as setup. But somebody somewhere still started an article about spending $45M or so to sign Williams as our 7th inning guy.

    Nice analysis. I still see him as a LR/#6, but hopefully Breslow and staff are looking at some angles that don't necessarily show up in the numbers.

    I like having catchers with strong defensive resumes, and that the hitting part of catching is easier to learn than the defensive side.. The fact that Pitt deemed him worthy of a 5th round pick encourages me. And due to the large drop out rate among catching prospects, I like hoarding them.

    That's why you have to be careful with some of these brewery bars. If you're drinking Coors' Light or Heineken, you know exactly what to expect. You order a strange beer that tastes great, and you don't realize it has 50% more alcohol. I've seen good drinkers start stumbling around after 4 beers.

    I use to watch the girls in LV. They'd buy a quart of OJ and have a pocket bag full of those one-ounce bottles that airlines use. It was a pretty cheap way of getting drunk.

    I get it too. Big moves are exciting. Everyone wants a #2. Heck, I want a second #1. But you can't always find these guys. And when you find someone willing to trade a known product, it's going to be expensive. If you want a #2, you trade for someone like Tong, but then you have to wait. If you want a #1, you trade for guys like Chandler or Burns, but then you have to wait.

    Spot on correct. You build good long-term success by adding value on every trade, and at every position.

    Thank you for that. This is why I like the idea of trading for guys like Chandler and Burns, or Tong to a lesser degree. I don't want to get slightly better for 2 years by buying acquiring hitters while tying up payroll for latter years. I want to get the most intimidating rotation in BB for the next 5-6 years.

    Probably everyone noticed that. Some fans want you to trade all your prospects. And when they trade any of them, it's a dumb move.

    I expect Oviedo to be in the BP/depth starter. And I like Guzman a fair amount. Huge defensive scores.

    102/27 K/W in AAA. There are points in every prospect's trajectory where is results either trail or exceed his real talent.

    Which is why Duran for Tong and Vientos makes sense (I doubt the NYM would do it). There is almost -0- logic to keeping Duran. It's just a matter of the best long-term return.

    We're always in 'build' mode. Right now, if the season opened tomorrow, then Duran is our DH, maybe. The OF would be RA, CR, and WA. FG projects Yoshida as a 111 wRC+. and Duran as 111. Duran marginal utility to the RS is very small. In fact, Vientos has a higher projected wRC+ than Duran. In fact, I could make a pretty good case that Vientos backing up Mayer, Casas and Yoshida would add more value than Duran backing up our OF and Yoshida.

    Then none of the numbers matter, and we might as well sign Alonso, Bregman, Tucker and Bichette. But the reality is that there is a number we will not exceed, and that trade would make the number $8M higher.

    I don't get the concept at all. We had the #9 team, had the #6 run differential, and one of the best farms in BB. We are obviously a contender in 2026, but probably for a long time after,
