  1. Trading either Campbell or Garcia is more like trading prospects than trading an outfielder. Neither will be on our opening 26.
  2. If you can't count on Chapman, how could you possibly count on Williams?
  3. IMO, Minny hangs up the phone and changes the number.
  4. could potentially upgrade his position with an offensive-minded center fielder like Cody Bellinger If we traded Ceddanne, we would put Anthony in CF. The entire idea behind trading an outfielder is so that we have only three outfielders, not four. Adding Bellinger would put as back to four. Never happening.
  5. When I first started out, glasses of Michelob were $0.25, a mug of Michelob was $0.50, and a pitcher of Schaeffer was $2, but you'd have to sit at a table.
  6. He'll get paid like a closer. I think he gets way too much inside his own head, but he still plenty of talent. In his last 19 outings, he had a 0.36 FIP, and included one game with 4 ERs (and 3 of those runs came in a Doval meltdown). In the other 18 appearances, he allowed one ER.
  7. But another good $15M BP addition, instead of applying that $15M towards someone like Alonso?
  8. LOL! It was auto-correct, or at least that's the excuse I am going with.
  9. Rafaela is about as good in CF as anyone I've ever seen. If three guys go down with an injury, maybe move him to the IF until you get it fixed. Other than that, he plays all 162 in CF.
  10. Most lefties have split issues. Unless they are really bad, teams generally put up with the issue, and give them days off against the tougher lefties.
  11. No, they're not interested. They have a very good closer, and an outstanding setup in Whitaker. They finished 2nd in MLB in BP ERA, and they have a plethora of #6/7/8 type SPs, some of whom will be relegated to the BP. This is one of the sillier rumors yet. And I happen to think Williams will be a good signing for someone. Just not us.
  12. I rarely project any single player to be in the top-4. But who are going to acquire that is an upgrade to Duran? And trading an outfielder for an equal player at a different position, isn't upgrading from Duran.
  13. Bubic probably not. I'm looking for more control. Ragans yes, but he'll be hugely expensive and "rotator cuff strain" is troublesome.
  14. I don't think I've ever considered total games played as a criteria for a 1B. They can get HBP or in a collision, but this is not a position where some players can't handle the stress of playing every day.
  15. the Boston Red Sox "believe they need an upgrade over Jarren Duran." One more conversation with the RS FO that never took place. It doesn't even make sense. 1-Duran is #4 in OF fWAR over the past two seasons. Outside of signing Tucker for $400M, it's almost impossible to upgrade over Duran. 2-The RS already have too outfielders. They aren't adding another one in any circumstances. This is one of the few times I don't use the phrase 'virtually' no chance. There is no chance they are acquiring another outfielder to replace Duran.
  16. I used total games since many 1B also DH. But his games played via 1B and DH is not impressive.
  17. I agree on Casas, with two notes. First and foremost, we have to know his injury status. He's always hit, so I am not concerned about that. But if he is out until May, we need a contingency plan. Second, and less important, a righty like Alonso is a better fit. Yes to the best pitcher that we can sign or trade for. But no to Realmuto. In order to spend an extra $15-20M, he would need to be a substantial upgrade over Narvaez, and I am not seeing that. I also have no interest in trying to outbid Philly.
  18. 144, 147, 150, and 154 this past year. That's 149 on average. There were 10 1Bs in 2025 that had 153 games last year, 149 is 'meh.
  19. It was a mutual option. He's better off declining the RS than waiting for the RS to decline him.
  20. I know I should know this, or maybe I shouldn't even ask, but what's a 'furry'. I am chronologically-challenged.
  21. Nice descriptions on all your posts. The only thing I know about pitching is that it's hard to hit.
  22. Because he might've accepted it? This wasn't just a last-minute injury. Maybe it wasn't as urgent earlier, but his K/W in his last 9 starts was 40/29, or 7.30/5.29 per 9. That's really alarming, injury or not.
  23. I could be talked into Smith for Garcia, and I don't think Cleveland would be offended. Not quite impeccable, but a 39/2 K/W in his final two months. He could easily take over in 2027, while making solid contributions in 2026. I'm okay with the rest of the guys, but having a 3rd ace to add to Chapman and Whitlock would be really good.
  24. Because there might be four guys who know their strategy, and none of the four will being willing to get fired for telling reporters. You could have a shmore in the accounting department named Joe, but he likely is just giving you his personal opinion.
