The most viable option for us is to develop our own pipeline of starters. We have a bunch of quality arms in the pipeline, Tolle, early, Witherspoon, fitts and dobbins just to name a few. Trading quality veterans with something in the tank, but on short contracts is the least expensive way to give the prospects extra time to develop, and keep us a playoff team! we need to stay away from expensive huge free agent contracts for starters that we pray can still pitch by the end of their contract.

Bres-slow has said he is hunting a number 2 starting pitcher. What has bres-slow done in the past to acquire pitchers 1.) sign starters coming off surgery to two year contracts knowing the first year they will not pitch for us! 2,) trades! Crochet was a home run! May was a complete failure. bres-slow has a lot of quality arms in the funnel that need a little longer to be ready, dobbins, fitts, early, tolle and Witherspoon so maybe bres-slow goes for veterans (with post season experience) on very short deals! Seems like there are several guys that would fit us perfectly. But Sale should be on the top of the list. We have the assets that the braves would crave,

I think Criswell, Grissom and 2 others are out of minor league options

The Detroit reporters said skubal will not sign an extension and is focused on entering free agency

Bres-slow says he wants to improve the infield defense! can we really keep story at short? Seems like in 2024 story was less a liability at 2nd base! defensively Mayer looks good at 3b. Yes he was rushed to the majors, but if he improves the strike out rate, he could be an answer I believe Casas has 1 remaining option if he were to start the 2026 season at Worcester. Which may be best thing for him long term.

Rafeala and perales and Sandlin for Greene! Casas, cutter and Mullins to Miami for alcanterra Duran, Hamilton, Clarke and dobbins to Washington for McKenzie gore!

Sale has 1 year left on his contract and his stuff is absolutely filthy still! Atlanta needs pitching and we got some to spare!! seems to me, this is a trade that can happen with very little effort!

Do we know if Clarke solved his blister problems?? The kid has amazing stuff! Just no idea where it is going when he releases it

This year we had a few promising pitching prospects miss time due to injury. Does anybody have any update on any of them?

Fix the rotation after crochet and bello and this is a playoff team! The better the rotation, the further into the playoffs we go! if (big if) skubal is available. Why wouldn’t we be making that phone call
  11. Larry Cook
One thing about hang’em Chaim, he signs a lot of guys that are below average on defense yoshida (snd some cash) and Sandlin and another prospect for gray? Might be worth a phone call by bres-slow to see if anything is there

And how do you if you do not ask? Or are you privy to the inner workings of the Pittsburgh organization?
  13. Larry Cook
I think that as far as priorities for us this offseason, assuming Bregman opts out, are as follows: 1.) ace type number 2 pitcher for the rotation. 2.) left side of the infield help. 3.) increase bullpen depth. 4.) power bat. for priority number 1: a.) call Pittsburgh and see if there is any interest in trading skenes! Offering Duran and abreau and prospects is a start. b.) if Detroit is going to make Skubal available, we need to call them and go all in on trading for him.

Seems to me if Mayer succeeds, the Red Sox share in that success as well

2026 roster prediction (number 1) catchers - Wong and narveaz. (Wong was injured in 2025, I think he bounces back big time.) 1b - Casas SS/2b - story SS - Bichete 2B/SS/3b - Mayer Utility - romy and sogard LF -Anthony CF - rafeala RF - abreau 4th - Garcia dh - yoshida rotation 1.) crochet 2.) sale 3.) king 4.) bello 5.) early bullpen Chapman slaten Whitlock weissert Keller kopech hicks Bernardino

If we want to put Mayer in the best possible position to succeed in 2026, seems like 3b or 2B makes the most sense.
  17. Larry Cook
Is Greene really a bres-slow type pitcher?
  18. Larry Cook
Not sure we got enough value for our 32mm!!
  19. Larry Cook
I like him at 3rd base more than at short!
  20. Larry Cook
When Bregman leaves, Mayer is going to be our everyday 3rd baseman for 2026! I would like to see story move to 2nd base in 2026! (And if I am being honest, I hope story opts out too!) the question is are there any free agent or trades available for a quality short stop ( not named rafeala) who can play defense and not strike out excessively!!!
  21. Larry Cook
Can free agent pitcher king stay healthy? He has tremendous stuff when he is healthy!!!
  22. Larry Cook
I really cannot see any of the free agents being resigned. Matz does not have the strike out stuff bres-slow craves. May was a bust. Wilson was serviceable but we have a ton of power lefties that can replace him in the pen. refsynder hit lefties ok, but we have a logjam of outfielders and Campbell is probably only useful defensively in the outfield

2025 was a huge step in the right direction. Plus we are set up to have more success in 2026. Duran seemed to play better offensively when Anthony was leading off. If Duran stays next season, he needs to stay out of the lead off spot. the first month of the 2025 season was really hard, a lot of guys were struggling and the Devers stories were nonstop. Hopefully we start 2026 with no drama 2025 was the year of the rookie and hopefully 2026 sees those rookies stay healthy and take the next step toward greatness. I still think Mayer can be a beast offensively
  24. Larry Cook
I think bres-slow has proven to be a solid talent evaluator! Yes he did take a gamble on some signings, but most were really good signings.
  25. Larry Cook
Campbell in left rafeala in center Anthony in right. Resign refsynder??? Keep password at Worcester???
