  1. Doesn't he bat left? The MLB site lists him as a left handed bat. Hosmer's current ops is .874. Way higher than anything we currently have on the roster. If you don't think this is Hanley/Pablo part 2, and we can not get votto, then signing hosmer is an option. he is not the leader in the clubhouse we desperately need, but he is an improvement over Moreland,
  2. As of today votto's ops is 1.008. Not as good as Ortiz, but better than anything we currently have.
  3. Thanks for the report!
  4. Agreed. Barnes did not have it this afternoon and it cost us a game. But the other side of the coin is options were limited. Thornburg and smith have been 8th inning no shows all year. Kelly is hurt. Taylor is hurt. And workman pitched in the 7th.
  5. 1.) I could be wrong, but last time I checked, sale is NOT a one-armed reliever. 2.) cincy is not going anywhere soon. They need pitching and could always use more prospects. I think desperate/planless dave has the ammunition to get a deal done with them. At the end of the day, cincy may decide to keep votto, point is we will not know unless we try.
  6. Moncada is a tremendous powerful athlete. Like pro football athlete. But he pulls his head off the ball when hitting and will always have big strike out numbers. Devers is not nearly the athlete, but has much better mechanics at the plate.
  7. Giving him games as a dh should keep him healthy and producing longer than playing the field everyday in the national league,
  8. I think a guy like votto could be as close to a replacement as possible for Ortiz. Instead of trading for one-armed relievers, desperate/planless dave could have been using prospects for a proven producer like votto.
  9. Kent spun a nice game today!
  10. I turn the sound off when watching and listen to the radio broadcast.
  11. Cleveland hitters have to be smiling knowing they are facing fister tomorrow. How sad is that!
  12. Wow! Is he a breath of fresh air. He provides energy and power. Fun to see the zombies on the bench jump up like that.
  13. I would love to see dave make a move for a clubhouse leader and on field producer like votto in the offseason, since I doubt Cincy moves him by tomorrow. I could see this guy providing some power, decent average and ops and providing tremendous leadership in the clubhouse. We get him to wake up the zombies that dominate our line up and help us get back to 5.5 runs per game. But because he is desperate/planless dave, we'll probably over pay for another reliever with arm issues.
  14. Barfield with another tater today after hitting two yesterday.
  15. Margot, moncada and devers all with first homers this season.
  16. I think 2016 hitters benefitted by the leadership provided by Ortiz. Now they are going through the motions waiting for someone else to step up. We need that leader to get these under performers to step up their game.
  17. I can't speak 2012, but in 2014 Ben tried to recreate the magic of 2013, but injuries caught up with the team. In 2015, he then went to with youngsters and a few veterans. Unfortunately he never go a chance to finish.
  18. Nunez saves the day!
  19. I take it you do not want to resign Moreland?
  20. Nunez and Vazquez break out tonight and the pitching goes in the toilet!
  21. Wasn't that his debut this season in the rain? He was removed with a lat injury. The biggest issue with groome is control and the lack of velocity on the fastball.
  22. This offseason we need a veteran power hitter to be a leader in the clubhouse. The young veterans need a guy to keep them focused and light a fire if need be.
  23. Devers delivered a clutch hit tonight. Unbelievable that a 20 year old is literally carrying all our hopes for this season. Meanwhile our young veteran hitters are zombies. Thank god for Nunez and devers! Ps: keep chili away from them else they become zombies.
  24. I never saw Thornburg pitch until this spring training and he looked terrible! I know the stats say he had a good season last year, but i also know that much like smith, there was a lot of chatter about potential arm troubles. Yet dave still did the trade and left us gambling on Pablo, a guy in decline for the past four years. Oh my, what a mistake!!!! Will someone please drug test dave!!!!!!
  25. Did we just open up a spot on the 40 man roster with this deal?
