  1. Buchholz signing with the jays is a bit sad. I always thought he would wind his way back to us. Preferably as a closer. Fortunately we have feltman, Hernandez and lakins on the way for the bullpen. Unfortunately we have an empty cupboard for position players and starting pitching in the high minors.
  2. Watched lakins pitch twice this spring. I like the stuff, control needs some work though. Ps: has brewer been sent to Pawtucket yet?
  3. If sale’s shoulder is right, we need to place signing sale (this offseason) as the priority and be prepared to let Betts walk next offseason.
  4. I think chavis’s early success has gotten into his head. Lately he has been lunging at pitches and swinging at breaking stuff outside the zone. He needs to calm down, clear the head and get a bit more selective again.
  5. I’ve been noticing how selective dalbec is at the plate. Another couple of walks today. His swing is really long but at least he is not hacking at stuff out of the strike zone.
  6. The cool aid acid test for him comes when they start pitching him inside consistently. His lack of courage will alter his swing and mess up his timing and the next thing you know, it is a two month trip to slumpsville!
  7. Watching brewer throw is a form of torture. When his control is on, he is decent. When his control is off, he is a train wreck. We need to keep chavis at Pawtucket this year. If he has a good year, we can bring him up next year after Moreland, Pearce and Nunez move on.
  8. Oscar hernandez had a terribly mechanical swing. If he gets s base hit, it will be more luck than skill,
  9. #55 pitching for the Yankees has some really nice stuff. Control looks a bit spotty.
  10. So sad! Rest In Peace, you will be missed!
  11. 1.) that is a lot of cheese for sale. The Sox do know that his shoulder is held together with duct tape and chewing gum, right? 2.) why is bogey being resigned?
  12. I still believe Larry was 100 percent responsible for us signing sandavol and Hanley. But i believe it was Ben who drew the line in the sand on paying Lester. Henry is admitting he should not have listened to Ben. I do not know who is holding the leash on desperate Dave, but someone is keeping him from signing kimbrel.
  13. We could get swihart more playing time by trading Vazquez, hernandez dalbec and chavis to Texas for Lequerc. Positives: Solves our closer hole and opens up playing time for swihart. Negatives: our starting pitchers will be depressed!
  14. It is really hard to get into sync at the plate unless you see pitches regularly. Not impossible, just harder.
  15. Agreed. My goal this spring is to watch pedrioa and sale extra closely and see if there are red flags.
  16. Watched the video of pedrioa taking batting practice today. I was not as concerned about timing and squaring up pitches as I was how much torque he put on the knee. Bottom line: he is not 100 percent, the step and turn are still mechanical, but light years ahead of last year.
  17. Our pitchers appear to love throwing to Vazquez and Leon. Why mess with a pitchers head? We already have substandard defense in most of the infield, why put swihart behind the dish and make that a defensive black hole as well? A happy pitcher is a good thing for our team.
  18. Do you get the feeling kimbrel wants to come back and his agent is trying to squeeze a few more dollars and years out of desperate Dave?

  20. Media says pedrioa looked pretty good taking grounders. Maybe his knee can hold up and we get 100 or so games out of him. Can’t wait to see if the bat returns.
  21. As you get older and older, you realize how hard it is to find young people to hire that have anything resembling a lick of sense, are not the definition of lazy, are not totally lacking in independent thought and are not under qualified to work in fast food!
  22. Really interested to see how pedrioa does on that knee. He might have been able to contribute late last year, but he lacked patience and rushed his rehab and paid the price, It would be a huge boost if he is back and healthy all year. His defense is above average and if we can get the league average for second basemen offense out of him, that is a win for us. I would love to see Devers make a leap. He has such a nice swing. I don’t care if the defense is not league average. Time for Rodriguez to stay healthy and make monster leap. His talent is undeniable. Now is the year to put it all together.
  23. 1.) feltman is the real deal. I saw him pitch live for tcu and for Greenville. No doubt in my mind, he is already top 3 in ability to get hitters out when compared to the current group of relievers we have. 2.) Hernandez should be in the pen. Again he could contribute in 2019. 3.) Henry is nuts to not be all in on the 2019 season by not bringing kimbrel back. Why let a few dollars stand between us and another duck boat parade.
  24. He and Bradley are gamecocks!!!
  25. This dudes needs to drink plenty of Gatorade because before every game this year, he is going to have to pee in the cup.
