  1. Feltman is a beast when he has control! 7th - Hernandez 8th - feltman 9th - Houk Our future key bullpen guys that will make games 6 innings long!
  2. Houston traffic is a nightmare, third worst in the us in my opinion. Probably worse than Atlanta (4th worse in my opinion) and fast approaching the Honolulu nightmare (2nd worse in my opinion). Ps: Los Angeles is still the absolute worst by a wide margin. The biggest problem in Houston is that giant green cloud that the chemical companies have hung over the city. Add in the fact that cancer rates in Houston are extremely high (hence the reason md Anderson is there) and you have to ask yourself just why would anybody want to live there!
  3. Sale has to prove the following to get a fat contract: 1.) the shoulder is fine, no residual damage, 2.) he can actually pitch 200 innings a year and not die on us in August of every year.
  4. Does pedrioa start the year in Boston? I still think he should start the year on the 60 day dL and join us August 1st and give us a boost for August through november. He is not right yet, but light years ahead of last spring. Another couple months and he could be a key contributor down the stretch for us.
  5. I like devers swing this spring. Shortened a bit and on the ball, He has a legit chance at hitting .250 with 30 taters.
  6. No two years are alike. I suspect that if we are resting our starters early in the year, we may not have the early season success we had last year.
  7. I watched Pedroia and I think we should start him on the 60 day dL and give him another two months of rehab. Work him back slowly and hopefully get a productive player for August through November. He just does not look right either at bat or in the field at the moment, I know some of it is rust, but I think more of it is the knee or lack of trust in the knee.
  8. Seems like we have a few of our relievers working on certain pitches this spring. Workman, for one, is throwing some sort of cutter or splitter that is not cutting or splitting that well, but is being hit hard! On offense, I think our hitters are trying to get 2 strikes quick, so they can practice hitting with 2 strikes. Unfortunately, that is not going real well at the moment.
  9. Not sure wins in spring training are all that important.
  10. Or when German misses, he is missing on the white part of the plate and even at 100 mph, hitters rarely miss those. (Aka meatballs)
  11. So, is not wanting to sign kimbrel another “anomaly” as well?
  12. Don’t forget ellsbury, the human banana and training room staple. Plus... Isn’t it rumored that Tanaka pitched with a partially torn UCL last season?
  13. Been watching dalbec all spring thus far. When he comes to bat with no one on base, his swing gets long, arms get extended and his game plan is to go all out for the tater. Net result usually being every now and then a walk or More commonly, the dreaded strike out. But put a man on base though, and his approach changes. The swing shortens he zeroes in on whatever it takes to get the rbi. kind of interesting to watch.
  14. Is sale 100 percent healthy?
  15. After we won it all in 2013, we had a couple of lean seasons. How much did those last place finishes cost the bottom line? I know we will never know he answer to that question, but I think the answer to that question had a lot to do with defining our strategy toward the on the field product going forward.
  16. 350 out of pedrioa would be a win. 180 out of sale would be fantastic. Let’s hope that shoulder is up to the task! In an average year, how many players do we put on the 60 dL? I think we should factor that, without knowing the specific players, in this year as well.
  17. Just the fact that he is on the field healthy and playing and hitting well, regardless of the pitcher is a win for the organization. Injuries are a fact of life over a 162 game season. I’m hoping we don’t need him this year, but if we do, it’s nice to know he is ready willing and able to contribute!
  18. He pitched the other day and his stuff was not bad. This would be interesting if it happens, I always thought our saves leader is the guy pitching for San Diego right now. Where we send chavis and two prospects to San Diego for him.
  19. I don’t think ped’s Has anything to do with chavis’s spring success, I think it had more to do with him squaring up mistake pitches.
  20. I know pitchers like to work on certain things during spring training, but Thornburg should probably work on not throwing so many meatballs and having average stuff.
  21. Buchholz signing with the jays is a bit sad. I always thought he would wind his way back to us. Preferably as a closer. Fortunately we have feltman, Hernandez and lakins on the way for the bullpen. Unfortunately we have an empty cupboard for position players and starting pitching in the high minors.
  22. Watched lakins pitch twice this spring. I like the stuff, control needs some work though. Ps: has brewer been sent to Pawtucket yet?
  23. If sale’s shoulder is right, we need to place signing sale (this offseason) as the priority and be prepared to let Betts walk next offseason.
  24. I think chavis’s early success has gotten into his head. Lately he has been lunging at pitches and swinging at breaking stuff outside the zone. He needs to calm down, clear the head and get a bit more selective again.
  25. I’ve been noticing how selective dalbec is at the plate. Another couple of walks today. His swing is really long but at least he is not hacking at stuff out of the strike zone.
