  1. The hard reality is our starting pitching staff is full of sore armed pitchers. (Thanks desperate dave) We should not be trying to sign a mega deal with anybody. We should let agents use us to other teams as a stalking horse, because then they will owe us in the future. Our plan should be: 1.) hits freidman as head of baseball operations. 2.) sign 1 year prove it deals for certain pitchers and have them earn a long term contract from someone else. 3.) get someone for the back end of the bullpen!
  2. John Henry, Please call Friedman in Los Angeles. Give him whatever he wants and secure him as our head of baseball operations!
  3. statistically don’t pitchers that have a huge jump in innings pitched from year 1 to year 2, have a down year in year 3?
  4. Dismantling seems kind of harsh! In my mind, we did not properly work out starters in spring training, they subsequently broke down and we were eliminated from entry to the post season faster than Yankees fans seeking entrance to Mensa! The one pitcher (rodriguez) who was worked properly in spring training had a career year. So the task remains, if we think we can fix the starting pitching and add a closer, we have a roster that can win it all next season. 1.) I think price rebounds post surgery and does his usual thing next season. 2.) rodriguez will regress some, but still should be solid. 3.) I think evaldi improves next season, if he can stay healthy. 4.) we have to replace Porcello. 5.) where is sale’s shoulder and elbow? My guess is he is one pitch from Tommy John next season, so we need a viable option for him,
  5. Looking on the bright side: Amazingly Cora is going to get us out of this season with a winning record. When you consider the terrible decisions desperate Dave made in spring training concerning the lack of conditioning for our pitching staff, the subsequent physical breakdown of those poorly prepared pitchers and our reliance on numerous horrible pitchers that do not have major league stuff for the month of September, it is truly amazing we finished this year with a winning record!!!!
  6. You might want to look at his last three starts. His stuff is weak. He serves up more meatballs per hitter than Porcello!!!!
  7. That was so weak. Apparently our offense has checked out on us. That pitcher was garbage and we made him look like cy young.
  8. Our starting pitching was a black hole this year. For 2020, I think price will be back and will throw a full season. His regression will continue however. Rodriguez should be back but may struggle a bit. Evoldi (if he stays healthy) should be a decent starter. Sale’s shoulder is cooked. Now his elbow is probably shot as well. I expect nothing from him next year. We need two free agent starters to fill out the rotation.
  9. Amen to bannister! We also need to rethink the fastball-curveball-change up pitch philosophy. And while we are at it, how about hiring pitching coaches that can teach pitching, and not just former players who are terrible communicators. And finally how about hiring pitching scouts not named Stevie wonder or ray Charles!!!
  10. If Porcello walks, we should sign one or maybe two of gibson, rourck, or hamels. But our top target should be will smith.
  11. seems like chicago’s Problems are bigger than what piece Martinez could solve.
  12. We made it to 81 wins! Amazing!
  13. As far as our 2020 outlook for position players: Pearce and Moreland are moving out. Holt, Leon and maybe Martinez are free agents. Let’s assume holt and Leon leave. Martinez would be stupid to leave, so I have him staying, All but 5 million of Sandoval comes off the books. What does that leave us: LF - benintendi (homegrown) CF - Bradley (homegrown) RF - Betts (homegrown) 3rd - devers (homegrown) SS - bogey (homegrown) 2nd - tbd 1st - tbd C - Vazquez (homegrown) DH - Martinez (back up OF) Back up C - tbd Bench 1 - chavis (homegrown) Bench 2 - Marco Hernandez I would like to see Chatham get a shot at 2nd. I don’t think dalbec, ockimey or Travis is ready to be the answer at 1st, so we must go outside the organization. We must go outside the organization for a backup catcher. This lineup should be able to put monster numbers up in 2020. Even though Vazquez, devers and bogey will probably regress some. I expect Betts to be lead off and have a monster contract year, which means Martinez will have a monster year, and I expect benintendi to bounce back strong.
  14. How many games has the bullpen lost us this year? 31?
  15. Is this the 30th game the bullpen has blown this year?
  16. I see a couple of things we could emulate: 1.) in developing pitchers, they do not pigeon hole their pitchers to throwing just the fastball, curveball and change up. 2.) they work opposite of us. They work overtime to develop pitchers and squire bats outside the organization.
  17. I have no problem with us resigning Porcello, but we can not kid ourselves about who we are signing. He is a .500 pitcher with a high era, who needs a lot of run support. We have an offense that can give him that.
  18. Has his team given up on him this year? They sure are playing like it,
  19. This cracin guy is horrible! I understand signing him now out of total desperation, but why would we want him anywhere within a 100 mile radius of Fenway next year!
  20. So let me see if I have this straight, desperate Dave has the team finishing in first place three years in a row. He brings home a coveted ring! Duck boats and celebrating every where! Yet Henry fires him because the front office is not huddled around in a circle singing Kume-bye-ya together???? Also Where was Henry when the brightest and best minds in our baseball operations department were packing up their desks and heading out of town on a rail a few years ago????
  21. If management brings in desperate Dave and gives him the keys to the Bugatti and says win at all cost, shouldn’t the draining of the farm system be considered as a logical step in the win at all cost marching orders?
  22. The goal is to build an organization capable of sustained success, including championships, year after year.
  23. Clearly the definition of the term “farm system” is too big for you. But by all means, keeping playing the short game, it’s had so much success for you guys over the last 15 years or so.
  24. I agree 100 percent with this. Except, I think desperate Dave was driving the bus on the spring training country club atmosphere, which is why Henry showed him the trap door!
  25. Amen brother! 5 years max on Betts or let someone else choke on the end years of a longer contract after Betts breaks down aka pedrioa.
