  1. I think a lot of fans feel the same
  2. Not if there is a significantly better player available where you drafted Yorke ESPECIALLY given we didn’t have a 2nd rd pick. You can’t miss that bad on your 1st rd pick. The reasoning given at the time by the Bloom apologists was that it allowed us enough slot money to sign the home run derby champ Blaze Jordan who also looks like a washout at this point
  3. that was the problem with Ball alright. He certainly didn't work out but if he truly was ranked 13-18 then I have no problem with the pick. It is when we spend our 1st rd pick on a guy ranked over 100 slots lower that I have a problem. I have never said we should take P with all of our 1st rd picks but to those who say we can trade our position player drafts for young controlled TOP SP I say if so why haven't we been able to do so then? It appears obvious we are not going to buck up for a top Sp in FA so how do we intend to get one or two?
  4. Because we have seen nothing to the contrary even this offseason to date.
  5. proving my point with this
  6. So tell me then how do YOU get the Sox young controllable TOP pitching talent without drafting them high?? Perhaps then you can tell the Sox FO how it is done.
  7. if we are picking 12-15 again I take a P unless of course the next ranked P is way down the draft board. We are all crying for top young controllable SP but teams that have it are generally not trading it and we sure as hell are not developing it. We have enough quality position players but not a single top P prospect that I am aware of.
  8. i agree with that
  9. I agree we need to focus on SP but NO the C position is not good enough. Hopefully Teel will be ready sooner rather than later
  10. probably but I just brought it up cause with this FO one never knows
  11. By the way the Gilolito deal is still not official
  12. That may be true but people said exactly what you are saying in past offseasons and we all saw the results. One can hardly blame fans for being skeptcal
  13. from what have heard Hernandez s not a g00d defensive 0f
  14. the best starting pitcher available and NOT a HS guy. And yes I liked the Teel pick. It has not been mentioned on here much but the Sox have about as much C depth as they do P depth. Sox need an upgrade at C at the MLB level too.
  15. Post of the day
  16. well maybe if Henry and co actually told the fans what the actual plan was it could clarify things. Remember though Henry pulled this same s*** with the Marlins before dumping them.
  17. if Yorke was in the long range plans of the team they would not have needed to add another top prospect 2B. Make no mistake the Sox are shopping Story too although he will be hard to move and the Sox will need to pay a big chunk of the $$ left on him. The team is continuing to shed payroll in favour of young controllable players. Janssen and Martin are also on the block.
  18. here we go again
  19. how he compare to those is not the issue. how he compares to Yorke is the issue but yes i would rate him above Crawford for sure and t least on a par with Bello who you recall was a DD guy. Just like Graterol was the guy we should have taken in the Mookie deal not the immortal Jeter Downs. And finally if the Sox were still as high on Yorke as you are then why this Sale trade for a 2B?
  20. I can't find the post where you credit me for being right about yorke { not really} but when a prospect rated over 100 spots lower it is not rocket science to say it is a bad selection but at the time it seemed everyone was on the Bloom train and couldn't see the forest for the trees. they justified the pick since it apparently got us the home run derby champ Blaze Jordan who has also fizzled out. you may want to go over the 1st rd picks that year and see the P prospects chosen after Yorke. For just 1 example how would Bobby Miller { #29 overall to LA} look in our rotation right now? There are others too although not as impressive as Miller.
  21. The first 2 factors you mention are exactly why they WON'T trade Duran.
  22. as long as idiots like me and others keep drinking their kool aid they will keep cutting. i keep watching MLBTR to see they have traded Janssen or Martin for prospects..
  23. It certainly has been true to date. It seems the Sox are trying to load up on prospects and veterans on 1 year deals to keep the team relevant
