the Sox should not and are not in Ohtani. They need a #1 and 2 SP or they are looking at another 5th place finish in 2024. PERIOD !!

MLB FA is a total joke. All the other major sports have a flurry of excitement on day 1 of FA. FA for MLB should not even start until Dec 1st as nothing ever happens before the up-coming winter meetings !! Yawn..........

a good portion of that are contracts DD left the team with. We have dropped to almost the middle of MLB in payroll now. You can't go from 230 million to 100 million in a year or 2. If not for the iNSANE contract given to Trevor Story it would be even lower.

With Henry it is all about saving money. Keep raising ticket prices and concession prices and who cares if we finish last again.

I saw an article on MLBTR that figures the Sox will be more likely to add pitching on the trade market as opposed to FA. Pretty much in keeping along the philosophy John Henry has followed for now several years. I guess we are going to find out just how good our farm system is now. I am certainly hoping they hang on to Mayer and Teel.

IMO Montgomery is a better than avg SP but not a true #1 or even #2. I agree it is too early to judge Breslow but I just fear he may be under the same financial constraints Bloom was under. Time will tell

I would rather just run out Crawford and Pivetta than add Flaherty or Lugo. Same goes 10x for Stroman. If either he or Manoah ever end up in a Red Sox jersey I'm done as a fan.

I think Glasnow is in another category but you never know I guess. Don't see it though.

i recall that there was something about slot money and that drafting Yorke would leave more of it for Jordan--the home run derby champ.

Wasn't Blaze the big fish we wanted so bad that we drafted Yorke about 100 spots above his draft ranking?? I slammed that pick at the time and nothing has happened to change my mind since.

Looks like the Cards are about to sign Sonny Gray for 3 yrs at 25 mil per. Out of our price range I guess. If the choice is either Stroman or Eros I’d rather just stay with what we have now.

i seemed to recall many RS fans hoping JD would opt out of his deal the last couple years. XB was not really underpaid at 20 million when he signed that deal and when he walked we got nothing in return. I call that being burned.
