  1. Espeically when we likely would not buck up to extend any SP we do trade for
  2. yeah sure we are just like all the others
  3. If the Sox have to trade a top prospect for a top SP it will be a failure since it will cost close to the same to extend the P AND cost us a top prospect. Fact is that Henry has become too cheap to spend for a #1 SP and we have no P in the system able to fill that role. Get ready for another last place finish in 2024
  4. I feel sorry for any Red Sox fans who think that ownership is truly concerned with making the Sox a stronger contender. It is very clear that Henry has given Breslow a budget and mandate to keep the team competitive at the same time paring the payroll. Any fans hoping for a different story need to take a hard look n the mirror
  5. season doesnt end at the deadline but no-one told Chaim that i guess
  6. like I have said many times on here Henry approves just enough signings for the team to remain in the mushy middle. to date other than the yankees who are not finished none of the the ther AL East teams have done anting either. Blue Jay fans are just as upset as Sox fans
  7. cease s a pretty good SP but hardly an ace. he was 7-9 last yr with an era in the upper 4;s. it would be a 2 yr rental only because the FO has shown they are not willing to pay for a 30 yr old SP. NO WAY do they get 1 of our top 3 prospects in return
  8. simply not good enough to compete
  9. Problem is we have no young quality pitching and without it this team is going NOWHERE
  10. they are all slow torture but this is the worst I can remember and with Snell and Montgomery both being Bora$$ clients it is going to go a while longer yet. I really doubt the Sox are in on either so I could really care less at this point. I just check MLBTR every day to catch up on all the M/L signings [NOT]
  11. my guess without a doubt is the latter and rumour has it they shopping Story hard as well
  12. i tired of it a long time ago. at this point i am almost ready to move on from the Red Sox after being a die-hard fan for about 40 years.
  13. And why would that be? I never followed Story before he came to Boston and likely woudnt follow hm much if we traded hm either
  14. I Only concern myself with Story in his time n Boston
  15. either is Story so a fair trade
  16. Henry to Breslow : remember you gotta get that payroll down"
  17. The bottom line is that the FO has proven they are NOT going to sign 30 yr old TOP FA SP anymore and they have not been able to come up with any real other ways to get quality young controllable P. As proven when they let Xander and Mookie walk they have little or no interest in maintaining any of their homegrown players who become stars. They are following the Tampa model ( which is why they hired Bloom in the 1st place) where they try and build from within the system and when the players reach the point of demanding raises they will be shipped out for prospects and the cycle continues. This is now the Red Sox way sprinkled with a few 1 yr veteran player signings to keep the team competing and all the while raising prices on everything
  18. And what will the 10 million get us ?
  19. And yet no one has come up with a reasonable solution as to how to solve the overall pitching weakness with the Sox other than to keep drafting the best SS in the 1st rd every year in the hopes he can be flipped for a top P prospect because that has worked so well for us.
  20. I think a lot of fans feel the same
  21. Not if there is a significantly better player available where you drafted Yorke ESPECIALLY given we didn’t have a 2nd rd pick. You can’t miss that bad on your 1st rd pick. The reasoning given at the time by the Bloom apologists was that it allowed us enough slot money to sign the home run derby champ Blaze Jordan who also looks like a washout at this point
  22. that was the problem with Ball alright. He certainly didn't work out but if he truly was ranked 13-18 then I have no problem with the pick. It is when we spend our 1st rd pick on a guy ranked over 100 slots lower that I have a problem. I have never said we should take P with all of our 1st rd picks but to those who say we can trade our position player drafts for young controlled TOP SP I say if so why haven't we been able to do so then? It appears obvious we are not going to buck up for a top Sp in FA so how do we intend to get one or two?
  23. Because we have seen nothing to the contrary even this offseason to date.
