  1. that should have made him more attractive to the Sox and their desire to have an entire rotation of rehabbing pitchers.
  2. i thought things might change with Breslow and Theo, but boy was i wrong.
  3. never underestimate the stupidity and cheapness of the Sox front office.
  4. yeah, Bell's offer is far too high and your's is more than fair. there's also a chance he sucks too. after all, he doesn't have an extensive history of success.
  5. i wish they would sign Bregman as i have a gut feeling that this is Raffy's year to miss significant playing time from injuries. or maybe it's just gas.
  6. i hate to state the obvious, but people naturally want to be associated with success, whether it's friends, businesses or whatever. the Dodgers commitment to winning (versus Henry's commitment to his wallet) has made them very very successful. this success has players wanting to play for them. does any free agent really want to play for the Marlins or A's? what i'm saying is: i don't think location is that much of a factor.
  7. how they've treated Yoshida. really? they seriously overpaid the guy, but they can't help it if he sucks in the field and at running and in hitting for power. that's on him. they've done everything possible to let him prove he belongs in the big leagues.
  8. no, not at all. wonder what he's wanting.
  9. Red Sox showing "interest" in AJ Minter.
  10. I would love to see them get Quinn Matthews but i'm not trading Casas for him. i know Hence is rated higher. not sure why though. and Jimmy Crooks has the potential at catcher. dude can hit.
  11. conversely, my interest in the Red Sox is falling.
  12. send this to Breslow. apparently him and the clowns that work for him have no freakin clue about this.
  13. Henry will offer him $5,000, a 1984 Buick Lesabre, a rick of seasoned firewood and a couple Sonic coupons. then Brez will tell us how they made a legitimate offer before he signs with the Dodgers.
  14. oh, i get it, i was just saying that there needs to be a better way to quantify a "win". it's BS the way the do it now.. it's been around since the beginning, so i don't think it's going away.
  15. there should definitely be a better way, and like Moon said, historical games could even be reanalyzed.
  16. fourth in revenue and eleventh in payroll. hmmmm.....
  17. didn't think about that. you're probably right.
  18. as it stands, W/L is no perfect measure, but there should be a better way to quantify a "win" for a pitcher -especially since it's a stat that's not going away and so many people look to.
  19. how many games would Steve Carlton won in 1972 with a decent team behind him? amazing that he took 27 of the teams 59 wins.
  20. true, but i do wish there was a better way to award the "win" to somebody to make it more important. Sox pitcher pitches 8 no-hit innings and leaves with his team ahead 1-0, then a reliever -lets call him Ryan Braiser- enters in the top of the ninth, gives up a run to tie the game. then the Sox win in the bottom of the ninth and Braiser gets the win. WTF? it's stupid.
  21. sorta the same, but i'd pour over and dissect the box score in the paper the next day. my brother had a paper route, so i'd have access to the papers before all of my neighbors. the good ol' days. LOL.
