  1. yeah, Gaspar is no big loss. does leave us really thin at catcher though.
  2. The Red Sox just traded Gaspar for Twins pitcher Jovani Moran who is -get this- recovering from TJS.
  3. might be, Abreu and a couple of them you mentioned not named Mayer. i don't subscribe to BTV, but i'd be curious as to how those would work there.
  4. LOLOL...and we all know that's not happening.
  5. Henry's approach is baffling. supposedly Price and Sale burned him on ever signing a long & large contract because they were both hurt all the time. so, he dumps them (and Mookie) and then proceeds to sign.... nothing but injured pitchers.
  6. Walker's negative 1.3 bWAR last year had to have impressed them. or maybe it was his injury history that sold them.
  7. yep, but they would have been "interested" for sure.
  8. he's the very definition of a window shopper.
  9. and unless the Sox do something, i'd be willing to bet that the Yankems are in the playoffs next year while the Sox are sitting at home.
  10. i don't know what it would take to get Buehler, but i would rather have spent the money on him than a rehabbing Sandoval.
  11. now you know why i said what i did. if they turned down Casas, they really are that stupid and value Castillo far more than what he's worth at the salary he's making. i thought Abreu was more than enough for him. the Sox sucked last year, mainly due to their lack of pitching and horrible defense. i think Crochet is a good start but they still have work to do. so far, the Mariners have done exactly nothing to address their piss-poor offense. they've shown "interest" in Walker, Goldschmidt and Alonso, but have little money to spend.
  12. because, IMHO, they think he's worth more than what he is. they seem like my dad....everything he has for sale is worth a mint, yet thinks anything anyone else has for sale (no matter how good) is garbage. like i said, they'd be better off trading his money for someone like Alonso.
  13. the Mariners think Castillo is on par with Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux and Nolan Ryan so no way they'd do that deal. they need to trade him for whatever they can get, even if it is a low-level minor leaguer so they can use that money to sign Alonso. with the pitching depth they have, they can afford to part with him to upgrade at 1B.
  14. Conner is going to get tired playing every day.
  15. you got 6 years on me. way too young for Rickey. pneumonia is some bad s***.
  16. Rickey Henderson dead at 65.
  17. totally agree. and i think this would energize the fan base, i know it would me. this year after year of "The Sham" is wearing on everyone. i'm not a Mets, Yankees or Dodgers fan, but i would think that their fans have to be excited for what their teams have done.
  18. me and you both. if Henry spent like the Dodgers or Mets i probably wouldn't care, but he's so tight, it's truly a waste of money we should be spending elsewhere.
  19. i said "nearly" the same money. especially when you consider that in reality, they are paying Sandoval $18.5 for one year (next season) as he'll be just like Paxton and not do anything the first year but draw a check.
  20. i like it. why pay someone healthy like Burnes (or Fried) when you can pay two injured guys nearly the same money to sit on the bench?
  21. the only possible pitcher i see them adding is Buehler. he perfectly fits the type of pitcher Henry now seeks -rehab projects on short-term deals as opposed to long-term deals with healthy pitchers.
  22. "perfect fit". LOLOLOLOL. perfect fit for the triage unit, also known as the Red Sox bullpen. Henry is essentially paying $18.5 million for this guy to pitch next year. f***ing stupid beyond words.
  23. essentially $18.5 million for next season. no way he's any kind of use this year. insane. this fits Henry's MO of signing broken down rehab projects for short-term deals. iow, throwing s*** at the wall and hoping something sticks. with this in mind, there is no way in hell he signs Burnes or any other decent healthy pitcher to a long-term deal.
