  1. you can scratch Naylor. rumor has it he is signing a 5 year deal to stay with the Mariners.
  2. as far as FanGraphs goes....i can pull numbers out of my ass too. no offense.
  3. and he lost out on the MVP award to Aaron Judge and his 12 HR, 52 RBI season because, well...he plays for the Yankees.
  4. you think they're dumb enough to take Grissom and pay most of Sale's salary this year? nah....nobody is that stupid.
  5. Yamamoto's WAR was less than a guy whose name sounds vaguely familiar .....Nick Pivetta.
  6. when i played....the fastest way to a seat on the bench was to watch strike three go by with your bat on your shoulder. it's so accepted now, it drives me nuts.
  7. whoever scouted Yoshida should be fired.
  8. i love watching Williamson play 3B. he is one of the best fielding third basemen i've ever seen.
  9. i agree with all of this -even that Duran's best years may be behind him. but maybe not; he's just 29. i think people describe him as "declining" to justify trading him. and to be clear, i'm against trading him; i would just want something worthwhile in return. something, other than the garbage we got for Betts, Devers, Sale, etc.
  10. there is no denying his past, but lets use a term you and other so often use to disparage Jarren Duran -declining. Suarez is 34 years old and i think it's safe to say that his best years are behind him. now....with that said, i wouldn't be against him if we don't get Polanco. my infield/outfield would be Narvaez at 2, Alonso at 3, Story at 4, Bregman (or Suarez) at 5, Mayer at 6, Duran at 7, Rafaela at 8 and Abreu at 9. IF we don't sign Bregman then i'd wan't Polanco at 4, Mayer at 5 and Story at 6.
  11. i'm just not that high on Suarez. i know he had a good season with AZ but that seemed to end after he was traded. during his time with the Mariners (53 games & 220 PAs) he slashed .189/.225/.428/.682 yuk. i'd be fine with Polo at 2B.
  12. Sandoval is the epitome of the Sox front office strategy. throw some money at some loser to rehab and then HOPE he does something.
  13. my expectations as well. or some really old dude, like Merrill Kelly. funny they gave up on Pivetta last year, but he goes to San Diego for relatively cheap deal and is one of the top pitchers in the league. his 5.3 bWAR. ranks 7th in the league, one spot ahead of Dodgers ace Yamamoto. how does he go from cream of the crap to cream of the crop?
  14. The way his season ended, I’m thinking his arm is toast. Good riddance.
  15. but these same tightwad motherf***ers will give an injured pitcher that won't throw a single pitch $10 million.
  16. my expectations are so low, that i fully expect Brez to be "interested" in all of the best players available but sign none. or, if he does sign someone, it will be an injured pitcher.
  17. if Brez thinks this guy is someone worth pursuing, i truly wonder about his judgement. the guy is horrendous.
  18. i wouldn't give up Casas for nothing, unless he is needed to get us "over the top" for a TOTR pitcher. i know he has little to no value, but he is cheap and i can just see him bouncing back the same way Chris Sale did after going to Atlanta.
  19. not that i'm aware of.
  20. the way the Dodgers are built (and i by no means think they'll stand pat this offseason) they are likely to play in a number of World Series over the next decade. meanwhile....John Henry is somewhere patting himself on the back for making the playoffs for the first time in 4 years.
