  1. Both DHam, and Romy are backups, and most likely wouldn’t have even got on the 26 last year except for injuries. I don’t think they are in any running for the 2B job. Grissom, or Campbell are the front runners for the job IMO, and if they can’t win the job then Bregman will.
  2. If the decision has already been made on 3B then I agree it’s on Cora, but IMO the big decision will come if somebody can win the 2B job well enough to play it FT. If not i still see Bregman playing there. Cora has already said he doesn’t want to move Bregman around just like he did when Story arrived his first year.
  3. Well said. I know most likely to hone in on every word, and how it’s said, and then try to decipher the meaning, but I’m just waiting to see how it all plays out. Raffy said a few things yesterday saying he’s not mad at the Red Sox, but he also said he hasn’t changed his mind about anything. How it works out I’ll be fine with it. I know Bregman is a better 3B, but it doesn’t bother me as much as others on here if Raffy stays at 3B either.
  4. Trick question? I’ll take a stab at it anyway. The proof will be in the pudding when the time comes.
  5. True. Raffy made his comments, and then Cora made his comments, and Casas put his two cents worth in, and I haven’t heard anymore since then.
  6. Agree, and anytime Raffy shows up out of shape is not a good look for him, and most likely won’t help his performance on the field either.
  7. I agree, and as Raffy gets older it will be harder, and harder to get into better shape. I don’t see Raffy up to this point to be any fitness buff. Xander was also in a contract year, which turned out great for him.
  8. I agree, but Raffy IMO didn’t expect this to happen at age 28. Raffy sees himself as a good 3B, which complicates how he sees things.
  9. No it’s not set in stone, and that’s why I said IMO. You on the other hand just made a blanket statement that Bregman, and Raffy have equal seniority, and that does not make it so, because you said it, and yes I think it is moot. Who is a better 3B is not even a question except in maybe Raffy’s mind, and that is not moot IMO. You didn’t say it was equal seniority as an opinion, or at least you didn’t say that. No Strawman situation at all, which is often one of your fallbacks.
  10. I would agree, but Cora opened the door when he discussed with reporters what he said to Raffy in a private meeting, something that he doesn’t normally do.
  11. I agree, and I’m not either. I do give kudos to Casas though to give his opinion when asked. To me he was sticking up for a teammate who been around a lot longer than someone just coming over to a new team no matter how long both players have been in the league.
  12. The problem to me is that whomever the 2B is going to be should get plenty of reps in STwith Story playing SS, and I don’t really see that happening.
  13. Except for Casas do we know how the clubhouse feels about the situation?
  14. That seems to be the dominant theory out there that someone has to win the 2B job impressive enough, so they will pretty much man the position FT. Like Merloni said if that happens great, and if not Bregman should be at 2B, and Raffy at 3B providing Raffy is physically able to throw.
  15. 100% Yes! That’s basically what Casas was saying when Casas was asked the question about who should play 3B.
  16. This has been already been gone over before. Having equal seniority in the league ALL with ANOTHER team does not give Bregman equal seniority with the Red Sox IMO. Devers has EVERY right to feel that way, and it shouldn’t come as any surprise to anyone.
  17. Either Devers should be the 3B FT, or not. Having him be part of a revolving door he’d be worse than he is now IMO. Either FT 3B, or FT DH.
  18. I agree, but Brez thought it was a good idea at the time.
  19. No, but I don’t see Raffy aging well weight wise, or healthy wise. 235/240 could be handled better at 25 than once he turns 30, and that’s if if stays at 235/240.
  20. Brez was in a given mood last year for better, or worse, and tried to lock up the young guys, RAF Man, and Bello took it, and Casas didn’t.
  21. Raffy’s L shoulder bothered him all last season. He hurt his R shoulder diving for a ball during the season. He was shut down at the end of last season, and the Red Sox came out, and said he didn’t need surgery. Was there any diagnosis given last year, or what the problem is this year?
  22. His last two years has ended early being shut down, because of those injuries.
  23. Mayer has lost valuable developmental time the last two years due to injury, which has set him back some IMO.
  24. Exactly! Especially when someone doesn’t want it, or even thinks he needs it, which Raffy doesn’t.
