  1. Yes I forgot the catcher. Of course the Lynne, Rice, Fisk, Burrelson, Cecil Cooper, Dewey Evans, Bill Lee, and the holdovers Yaz, and Rico was the best talent, but the 67 team was special, and started Red Sox Nation.
  2. 1B Scott 2B Andrews SS Rico 3B Foy LF Yaz CF Reggie Smith RF Tony C SP Lonborg RP Sparky Lyle Now that was a farm system.
  3. The point I was making is at the time we did need a 1B, and Dalbec coming through was after the fact. But on Jul 31 we did need a 1B. Once again you don’t know what Rizzo’s stats would have been with the Sox, and saying Schwaber has been on a meteoric rise is a little over exaggerated, and remember when Schwaber couldn’t play for two weeks the team was dropping in the standings, and Rizzo would have been playing at that time. I know Rizzo is in decline, but at the time on Jul 31 he was a better option than Bobby D, and like I said Schwaber was just a after thought. Like I said it all worked out, so let’s just agree on that.
  4. It all worked out, and I’m glad it did, but at the time of Jul 31 the Sox did need a 1B. We will never know what Rizzo’s stats would have looked like with the Sox, but don’t make it sound like Bobby D was raking everyday, because he wasn’t. He went 9 games after the trade deadline, before he hit a homer. He had av3 game stretch, where he knocked in 11 runs, and a 7 rbi game later on, so like I said it all worked out, but I don’t think it was the right move at the time. Schwaber worked out well too, but don’t tell me he was the plan all along. If it was Bloom would have signed him in the first place, and not waied to the Yankees jumped on Rizzo, and then Schwaber was left. Like I said I’m glad it all worked out, but at the time it wasn’t the right thing to do, because they needed help at 1B, and Schwaber still is not a 1B, and was hurt as well.
  5. The Sale extension was not fine, because everyone knew Sale was hurt, and may never be the same again.
  6. As I stated yesterday that Whitlock was handled with kid gloves all year with most of the time 3-4 days between appearances, and when he didn’t get that he wasn’t as effective. Also the majority of innings were not as a closer. Big difference.
  7. I would put Pivetta in there maybe instead of Houck.
  8. Now the pitching staff can get a well deserved rest if only for a few days. Great win!
  9. You go for the win now.
  10. Why is Santana on the team if he’s not running?
  11. This is where they are missing the good Barnes.
  12. Whitlock has been handled with kid gloves most of the year with 3-4 days between appearances, and when he doesn’t get that he hasn’t been as effective.
  13. No rested arms, in the pen is catching up with them, and also not having a real closer.
  14. When you keep going to the same arms time, and time again they are not always going to be good, and especially when they are overworked. Need to score more runs.
  15. I knew he could do it.
  16. I agree, and hopefully Duran pans out, but at this time he’s a huge question mark going into next year.
  17. Now for the doom, and gloom portion of the pre- game show. I’ll ask once again if we can get out of the first for it all to start. We haven’t gotten out of the first inning yet without being scored upon. I think that will change tonight with E Rod. The howling would have started in the first last night, but the hounds took it easy, because it was Nate. If it would have been E Rod, or sale they would have been going full force.
  18. Sorry. There is a lot that can happen, between now, and then, and probably will, and like I keep saying at the moment the Sox not having a productive farm system makes everything, more difficult.
  19. Don’t worry about the logjam at 3B. If both Bogey, and Raffy both stay, and Bogey moved to third then Raffy could go to first like Youk did, and even Boomer Scott who turned out pretty well there. If that was to happen I wouldn’t worry about Dalbec, and Casas is just a prospect at this moment
  20. Could be a pretty much whole new team 2 years from now.
  21. I like Bogey too, and I think he wants to stay too unlike Betts, so we really didn’t let Betts go, because he wasn’t staying anyway, so the Sox made him a token offer knowing he wasn’t going to take it. Bogey is not a gold glove, and eventually will have to move to third.
  22. I agree on the big no on the $250M/8. I also think $174M/6 would be to high. $125M-$140M/5 would be as high as I would go, and if he wouldn’t take it now, and wants to opt out then he has to be traded to get something for him instead of letting him walk out the door for nothing. I don’t think he’ll still be a SS for all that time either.
  23. That’s the way the game is played today, where a manager has to put a different pitcher in every inning regardless how anyone is doing.
  24. Since when do I have to say anything good about Schwaber? I suppose you want to sign him to a Life Time Contract too.
