  1. I know people get carried away on game threads, so I’m not so sure how it was meant.
  2. I think you go to deep in my value of Kike. You know I like Bogey, but if the Sox announced today that they had signed him to a 6/$180M contract I would say that is to high, and he’s not worth that much money. I call it as I see it, and not how much I like a player, or not. I have said Kike is a good defensive CF more than once, and said he is good at other positions, so I wouldn’t say that is exactly throwing shade on him.
  3. I agree. JD was coming off a 99 RBI year, and would have been more desirable then then at the trade deadline, but I think his salary would have scared some teams away.
  4. I haven’t heard Kike’s come up much, or at all outside of here, and if I’m having a different opinion on Kike is going out of my way to say I think he is not worth the $10M then I guess I’m guilty.Of course that works both ways for the ones who are saying he is worth it. I may be in the minority on the subject on here, but it’s just an opinion both ways.
  5. Someone on here during a game thread during the postseason said that Flintstone Schwaber should be given a lifetime contract. I remember it well, and commented about it at the time that I thought that was way overboard just like the ovation he got for making a routine play at 1B.
  6. Bogey would have had to been traded before his 7th full year, so that wouldn’t have been a fire sale, or if it happened before this season even started. I didn’t want to give up the ship this August.
  7. I’m always for trading guys if you can’t sign them, and that goes for Raffy too. I would have to see what the trade was to know if I would like it, or not. Yes there would have been complaints about Bogey being traded, but I think there will be more if he is not resigned depending on the offer, and the asking price.
  8. I was talking about the bigger money contracts, but yes they have done something about it, so now we see if it was a good signing, or not.
  9. I agree for the most part, but not always. A bad contract can result in longevity on a team, because of that contract, and not , because they are better.
  10. I get your point about Kike, and always have, but I just don’t value him as highly as you do. You see him one way, and I see him another. I’m not saying I’m right, and I’m not saying your wrong, but we just disagree. If Duran would have worked out in the field, and with the bat he would have been in the plans for CF next year, and not Kike, so I think depending on what the plan is with Dugy they would have signed a corner OF instead of Kike. Duran would have been a cheap fix, but he sucks.
  11. I guess it depends what the rest of the team looks like, but with so many holes to fill probably not. The Red Sox have though relied on the DH for production for quite a few years though.
  12. I agree, but now you’ve got all these expiring contracts, and aren’t going to get much, or anything for them when they go out the door except salary relief, which I guess is something.
  13. And it’s going to take a pile of money to put Humpty Dumpty back together again is it not?
  14. I was as long as JD was still on the team, because I thought they could get 1 more productive year out of him, so yes I was wrong on that, but didn’t you say Schwaber would have been to much money for what he signed for with Philly?
  15. I’m not trying to change your mind, but I think you’re trying to change mine. We disagree, and that is not going to change. I get all the points made about Kike, but I just don’t see it as you, and others do.
  16. There were all these expiring contracts, because Bloom in his 3 years on the job let it get to this point. Yes I know DD signed the contracts, but couldn’t Bloom have done something like a trade, or two to alleviate the problem? I haven’t criticized Bloom, because I didn’t want no part of a fire sale, because the Sox were still in contention, and felt they owed the paying customers to still put their best players on the field.
  17. Fire sale, fire sale. There was talk about having a fire sale before this season even started by some on here, because that to some I think would be more entertaining to be bad, so a fire sale could commence instead of having a year like last year.
  18. We’ve gone over this 100 times too. To me Kike is a good utility guy, who is good at different positions, but plays full time for the Red Sox, because they have NO ONE better. If Duran had worked out in CF do you think Kike would have been resigned for $10M? Once again I’m not saying Kike is bad, but I certainly don’t rate him as highly as you. We disagree, and there is nothing wrong with that.
  19. You are the stat guy, and I’m sure if you really wanted to find one, or some you could, but seeing it’s Kike you wouldn’t even try, and that’s all right to.
  20. You interpret as not rating Kike as highly as some of you as having it in for him. I don’t think he had the best year on D for a CF I have ever seen a Red Sox CF have like Moon, and I don’t think he is any kind of playoff hero like others have, and I have said he’s a good defensive CF, whom I didn’t think was worth $10M, so if that to you is having it in for a guy then so be it, and I’m guilty. Either way my opinion has, and will not change.
  21. So why are you counting a non legit contract offer now?
  22. What did you say about the Bogey offer when it was first made before the season even started?
  23. Still the same point that to me there just has to be someone out there who is better than Kike that you could get for $10M, or less. If not then MLB is in bad shape.
  24. Now you know I don’t know what any of that means, but to you he’s good, and I just disagree. Different opinions, and neither is going to change. We disagree, and that’s fine with me.
