  1. Well said, and I agree especially to each his own, but if I happen to mention eye test, or BA it sets off all kinds of bells, and whistles. Like I have said many times if you like, and need all of that analytics stuff fine, but I just don’t need it.
  2. Duran in LF tonight as Yoshida goes to the bench. Kike back at SS.
  3. When Raffy comes up to bat, and they show all his stats up on the big message board I bet he would rather see his BA higher than its been in the 240+ range.
  4. It’s fine for me, and it’s fine that so many have a problem with that, but on the other hand I have no problem with anyone using any, and all stats they can come up with. I just don’t need them.
  5. What are they going to do with Turner next year? If Turner stays Yoshida stays in LF. The big question with Dugy is do you want to offer him another contract, or not. As for Duran what he does the rest of the season will go a long way to deciding if he’s in the Red Sox plans to be a FT CF.
  6. I’ve actually come off BA some through the years, and it depends on the batter. I think BA means more to a hitter like Arreaz than it does to someone like Schwaber, or even Raffy for that matter. Even though Raffy’s power numbers are good I think if his BA was up to where it usually is with him his power numbers would be even better. At any rate I’m personally content with the eye test, and the stats I do look at to know what’s going on.
  7. If they can’t hit Seabold it’s not a good sign.
  8. TBD. Don’t get giddy over the last 3 performances against the Yankees, and think everything is alright now in the rotation. Let’s wait, and see how things look at the AS break.
  9. Injury news update! The ghostly Mondesi is not progressing. What a shocker. Schreiber is throwing out to 75 feet.
  10. How about when Carrabis turned on sports radio this morning after a Sunday night game, which they won against the Yankees taking the series, and all he heard was Pats talk, which isn’t even in season. I’ve been saying for weeks now the Red Sox are on the back burner in Boston, and are now the #4 team in the city. I know you wouldn’t know it on here, but for the second year in a row the Red Sox are a last place in the Div team teetering on being a losing team, and out of the postseason. Sad, but true, and they have done that to themselves.
  11. That we agree on, and as I’ve stated before sometimes all it takes is one pitch to be made for the gloom, and doom to start.
  12. According to the game threads they agree with you.
  13. If you need all of those then fine, but I don’t, and I just don’t go on BA either.
  14. I mentioned this the other day that Hank Aaron said his proudest accomplishment, which were many with his bat was his Batting Aveerage.
  15. The report I read this morning said that the Red Sox shifted to Mayer after Leiter was taken. That’s a fact.
  16. No one said it was a blunder by Bloom. All I ever said was I’m not giving Bloom credit for taken someone who was rated as the BPA, and that 3 other teams passed on him for various reasons.I also have said no one knows how things will work out, and if Mayer will turn out being the best player in the 2021 draft. You have ran with it from there.
  17. MLB.com 12 July 2021.
  18. The reports. Mayer wasn’t even expected to be around for the 4th pick, or even 3rd for that matter.
  19. Can’t stats be misleading too? If you look at Raffy, and his power numbers they look pretty good, but if you watched the games the eye test tells you they might not be as good as they look on paper.
  20. I will admit you have to go to other stats if the eye test isn’t available. Arreaz is on my fantasy team though, so I do know somewhat what he does on a daily basis.
  21. Leiter was the guy the Red Sox really wanted, and shifted to Mayer after Leiter was taken.
  22. Nothing beats the eye test.
  23. It certainly makes it different on what to do come trade deadline.
  24. Watered down product both of them from years past, which I have been saying for some time now.
