Bloom’s main purpose should have been to have a winning record, and a trip to the postseason in the here, and now. Like Cora said it doesn’t matter what your farm rankings are, but what you do, or don’t do in October.

How many Red Sox fans wouldn’t take a trip to the WS, and a postseason appearance the last two years like the Phillies have done? Trying to say the Phillies haven’t been much better is ridiculous.🤭🙈

I was all over DD the second he gave Sale that extension, and I think he could have done better with the Bogey, and Mookie contracts. Boston had 4 winning seasons under DD, and a WS title. What DD has done, or hasn’t done with the Phillies has no bearing on what he would have done with the Red Sox, but if the Red Sox had done what the Phillies have done the last 3 years I think most Red Sox fans would have taken that.

To think that no one else could have done better than Bloom is like so many on here saying the Red Sox couldn’t get anyone better than Kike for $10M. I didn’t even say how much better DD would have done than Bloom, but only he could have done better. Bloom didn’t set the bar very high.

If DD was still here we wouldn’t have gone through 4 years of Bloom, so I’m not just talking about this year. I don’t subscribe to the theory like one on here that no one else could have done better than Bloom under the so called budget, and restrictions.

Yes I have no doubt a more experienced CBO with a little bit of competency, which Bloom had neither would make the Red Sox better. Budget is just one of the Red Sox problems, what you do with that budget is the biggest. The jury hasn’t even convened yet on Bres, but if DD was still there even with the same budget I believe the Red Sox would be better off.

The problem is the experienced ones didn’t want any part of the Red Sox, and wouldn’t even interview, which is a bad look in itself.

That’s what I keep saying when some keep bringing up JH spending patterns in the past. 2018 is not that long ago, but things have changed dramatically with that vast amount of money now being spent, and the amount of teams that is now willing to spend it. It’s not just the Red Sox, and Yankees bidding against each other anymore. JH it seems has been now been left behind, and the Red Sox have gone down with him. Not a good look to me, and i don’t think the Red Sox are looked at throughout MLB as they used to be.

I gave him credit for 4 WS championships, but all that good it will it seems has all been used up, and that’s pretty hard to do.

You actually think the brand that went on for 86 years before a title was won is the same as today? The comparisons aren’t even close to being the same? Wow! Despite 4 titles being won under JH tenure he is not very popular, and a marked man. I don’t ever recall it being like that before in my lifetime. 10+ candidates wouldn’t even interview for Bloom’s open job.

Exactly, and you have to be awfully good at what you’re doing to make it work the cheaper way, and the Red Sox obviously haven’t been that good at trying to do it that way.

Was Bloom a step in the right direction? He had more money to play with in Boston than he did in Tampa. The big difference was Bloom was just one of the many nerds in Tampa, and tried to be the main nerd in Boston. When Boston has been successful they haven’t done it the Tampa way.

Agree with this. Some on here are expecting all the hyped prospects to live up to that hype, and then everything will be alright, and talk about some kind of foundation. The foundation should have been Mookie, Bogey, and Raffy, and then pieces added to that.You should never give away years, because you will never get them back hoping for the Calvary to come that may not be as good as you hope for when they get there.

No one has even talked about trading the top three for just a RENTAL anyway.
