  1. FINAL COUNTDOWN! 78-84 record 4 games behind the hapless Yankees 11 games behind Toronto 21 games behind Tampa 23 games behind the O’s 9-19 in Sept 39-42 at Fenway, and broomed time, and time again. No matter how you slice, and dice it this is embarrassing, and unacceptable. Bloom was fired, and rightfully so, but there is plenty of blame to go around starting with JH, and working its way down to Cora, and yes Cora who is told he’s coming back with most likely more control right down to the players. I heard criticism of the leadership in the clubhouse from some on here last year, but I haven’t heard it this year. I wonder how come? Who is the leader? It’s certainly not the $300M man who was sulking, and hanging his head more than once this year. Thank god it’s been football season for a month now, which to me is the best time of the year. The baseball postseason will start, and once again the Red Sox are on the outside looking in, and not even close to getting there. To me this team quit in the last month when they were still in contention for the postseason. I know some on here don’t want to hear that, but I believe they did.
  2. I just herd the news, and very sad. Tim was one of those few people that you didn’t hear anything bad about, and that is hard to do.
  3. I think everyone knows he will opt out, but that doesn’t mean he won’t resign. Turner likes Boston, his wife likes Boston, and Cora likes JT. Maybe at this point in his career he doesn’t want to make another move, so a 2 year fair contract may do the trick, which I think has a better chance of happening than signing Chapman. I’m not patting myself on the back just stating facts. Just like I said that signing Bloom was a bad idea, and so was resigning Kike, who I was told by more than 1 on here that the Red Sox couldn’t have gotten anything better for $10M. How did that work out? I said the Red Sox should have signed Jansen last year, so a year late was better than nothing. To me none of these things were hard to see. There was plenty of SS stuff that came up after Story got hurt, but there was plenty of Story stuff saying he should stay at 2B too, before he got hurt. To me that was another easy decision too to return him to SS, and that’s where he his today. No patting anyone on the back, because all of these things I had pointed out made the Red Sox where they are today, which is a losing, last place in the Div team. Final answer to the question you asked before the season that NO thebRed Sox did not sign JT to be on the bench. D
  4. I don’t think Pivetta has complicated anything. He has good stretches like he did at the end in the BP, and the rotation, but let’s not forget why he was taken out of the rotation in the ist place. He shows up everyday, and is a #5 starter. I don’t see that anything has changed.
  5. Cut out the company line stuff about going into hiding you are just play copycat. I have already said more than once that I believe JT is coming back, so all the suggestions I keep hearing is mute. I know how some get things in their craw, and think if they shout long, and loud enough Cora will hear, and do it. Just last offseason after Bogey left, and everyone was saying the Red Sox need to go out, and get a SS, and Story should stay at 2B. I kept saying that Story should be the SS, and that’s what they signed him for, and low, and behold if Story hadn’t of come up lame he would have been the opening day SS just like he is now. Or all the talk of Whitlock being in the rotation when for 2 years now I’ve been saying he should stay in the pen. They are not going to sign Chapman, who yes is a good 3B, but not much of a hitter, and would be too costly anyways when money should go to pitching. For better, or worse Raffy is your 3B, and Casas is your 1B, and hopefully they can get better on D. By the way have you figured out yet with 1 game to go that JT wasn’t signed for the bench. That was a doozy of a question you asked on that one.🙈
  6. Chapman isn’t coming either!
  7. I’ve heard all kinds of talk that Raffy should be getting time at 1B, and to me that is a BIG no. IF, and when they decide to move him to 1B then start try him out in ST. Until then he needs all the reps he can get at 3B' which means NO on him being the backup at 1B also. Like I keep saying I believe JT will be back anyway.
  8. Makes no sense, but I’ve seen teams run the ITDD for years, and more times then not it has hurt the team using it more times than it helped them.
  9. ND got one snatched away from them last week, and tonight they snatched one away from Duke. They could be 6-0 right now, or just as well be 4-2. A great play by Hartman, but did you see what D Duke was in on the Hartman run? Yep the old ITDD. Invitation To DEFEAT Defense. 3 man rush. Coaches never learn.
  10. Chapman is Notin’s pipe dream just like Gallo was last year. Gallo didn’t happen, and Chapman won’t either.
  11. I think most on here are assuming JT won’t be back, and I’m not so sure about that. While Chapman would be a big upgrade on D at 3B, and would make the L side of the IF along with Story great on D. If JT comes back though it’s the same Yoshida LF, Raffy 3B, and Casas 1B, and then hope Casas, and Raffy get better. No room for Chapman, and his FA contract anyway.
  12. Drastically weakens the defense?🙈. Nah the slumber in the lumber hasn’t been there at all this year.🤭.
  13. Tek has written volumes in that notebook of his, and Dave Bush has ran marathons out to the mound this year. Throw the notebook away, and tie Bush to the dugout like they did Pedro that time. Nothing worked.
  14. That’s true about the Dodgers, but the Red Sox have been working around Sale’s dead contract pretty much since it was signed. Glad to see Sale is penciled in as the opening day starter next year unlike this year when Cora gave him the day off to relax, and celebrate his birthday. Of course with Sale being penciled in, and being available are two different things.
  15. I know there is good quantity, but not necessarily good quality in the OF, and I have said it would be risky to count on Raf Man, Abreu, and Duran as full time starters next year. If Dugy leaves they need another RHB, and even if he stays another RHH OF is needed. Of course not shoring up he rotation is even riskier.
  16. Yamamoto is for a lot bigger need, and worth the money, and risk. Like I said yesterday going into last offseason the Red Sox needed another OF, and a bat. A year later the Red Sox have OF depth, and Yoshida is just clogging up things when the money would be better spent on pitching.
  17. And the word was at the time of the signing when Boris shut the bidding down so quick he overpaid dong it.
  18. It’s been slumber in the lumber for sometime now. Max named them the No Name offense earlier, but no hit offense would have been better.
  19. JD has finished strong. NOshida has not.
  20. Speaking of JD he hit his 32 HR last night, and drove in his 100 RBI. Forget about him outhitting JT his 901 OPS has outhit Raffy, and in 150 less AB. No I don’t think the Red Sox should have resigned him, and JT has worked out well, but good to see JD has bounced back this year. Just saying.
  21. Martin on IL, and done for the rest of the season with viral infection. Steady Eddie he was.
  22. Cora was picked by DD, and rehired by Bloom, but I’m not sure it was Bloom’s decision, or not, and it looks like it won’t be the decision of an outsider GM now.
  23. The reasons I have doubts is, because of naming O’Halloran exc VP of baseball ops, and telling Cora he will be back.
  24. Your a bigger man than me.
  25. Word on the street is that the Red Sox have been calling other GM’s not to hire, but to asking advice on who good was out there to hire. Sounds like a top notch operation to me. O’Hall has already been named Exec VP of baseball ops, and Cora has been told he’s coming back in some capacity, so I don’t know how much change is really going to happen.
