  1. Monty is not an ace, and has gotten hype from being good down the stretch, and having a good postseason. Would he help? Yes,but not worth the contract. Snell has won two CY, but hasn’t been all that good in the years in between. Not worth the contract either. They need to trade for some young pitching somewhere with some years of control left. All I’ve heard for the last two years is firesale, firesale. That would have been the time to improve the pitching, but now it’s much more expensive, and big spenders are in need.
  2. I said it before FA started, and I’ll say it for the tenth time. Trade, trade, and trade. I have never expected the Red Sox to grab any of the top FA pitchers, because who ever didn’t grab the Yam Man would focus their attention elsewhere, and the Red Sox just aren’t outbidding any of the top spenders, so the only way is through trades.
  3. I can’t believe some fans took the Red Sox seriously just having a meeting with the Yam Man. I thought before anything started with meetings that the Red Sox had less than a 1% chance of landing him in the first place. Going against the Mets, Yankees, and Dodgers wasn’t even worth the bother, but some fans bought in.
  4. CBS projected 5yr/$105M before all the dog, and pony shows started, and said Monty would only get a 5th year, because that’s probably would it would take.
  5. Agree. I can’t believe there wouldn’t be.
  6. A piece of coal from Uncle Henry to all Red Sox fans for Christmas.
  7. One estimate I saw before this FA thing all started was 5yr/$105M, and they said he would only get a 5th year, because that’s what it would take, so probably what he ends up with Yes.
  8. From Tyler Milliken: if Jordan Montgomery is out of your budget you don’t deserve to own a sports team. Especially the damm Boston Red Sox.
  9. Crowded with Sam in the middle somewhere.
  10. Those contracts are looking better, and better now, and will probably look even better later on.
  11. Agree, but the Big O, and the Yam Mam got $100M-$200M more than the original estimated contracts, and I’m sure Snell, and Monty will get substantially more too. If the original plan was to go all in on the Yam Man with all the stiff competition for his services it doesn’t look like that was a very sound plan.
  12. Do you think the Red Sox were caught flat footed again, and didn’t read the room on how much the asking price for starting pitching has gone up so much from the estimates before all this FA madness started?
  13. I want trades for younger pitchers who still have control left, and yes I fully understand that trades are far from a guarantee, but I would rather give up a prospect then overpay for guys like Monty, and Snell. To me the Red Sox have waited way too long to try, and make the starting pitching better. I don’t subscribe to the theory like most that you have to be on the verge of winning right now to improve things. Look how much salaries up gone up just the last two years.
  14. Cora has been fed up for two years now, so I don’t think it is hard to know that he wouldn’t put up with another two especially after supposedly going full throttle this year after two losing last place finishes.
  15. I have no idea. Brez might have been way down on the list if not so many had said no to even an interview.
  16. I answered that before any of this FA period started when all the estimates were a lot lower. No, no, and no. Trade, trade, trade.
  17. Agree 100%. Overhyped, and overpriced. Complete dog, and pony show that the Red Sox shouldn’t even have shown up for considering the competition.
  18. Green- Red-Blue.
  19. Nobody said you did. The point being just, because you would be drooling wouldn’t mean by a long shot that Cora would too over the same prospect of prospects. Cora wants, and has wanted to win now.
  20. Nobody knows what Cora was offered for a role in the FO, but either way I don’t think Cora is, or will be anytime soon. Brez in place now may have changed that.
  21. Cora pulled the strings at the end of last season, and held the door open for Bloom when he left.
  22. At least the Mets were given a second interview. Something the Red Sox didn’t get.
  23. If the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox all offered the very same contract 99.99% certainly that The Big O, and the Yam Man would have still ended up with the Dodgers.Wonder why that would have been.🤭
  24. I think the Yam Man wanted to go the Dodgers anyway especially after the BIG O signed there.
  25. Been out of the loop the past 4 days with a power outage, so haven’t been able to keep up on things. I take it I haven’t missed anything as far as the Red Sox are concerned. I see the Yam Man dog, and pony show is finally over, and glad to see the struggling Dodgers get their man. The Red Sox must have been in it right to the end.
