  1. Original tread title: What do the A's, White Sox and Red Sox have in common? We are all in last place,.tied for worst record, 1-5. I can't see it getting any better. Our pitching is like the Titanic when the iceberg hit it. Now 2-8. We have no power. Our starting pitcher ERA is 5.4.
  2. Small ball was terrific. Getting/having base runners on will usually affect the pitcher. Being able to sacrifice/bunt successfully to move the runner over is a must in close games. Great pitching also helps. That was an exciting game. The challenge by Anthony was terrific. Chapman got a strike called on an obvious ball but the Reds batter didn't challenge. I like the fact that the broadcasters are supposed to not have access to the strike zone box we see on TV (though someone could be - is - feeding it to them).
  3. We have 3 players who have more career hits than strikeouts (Yoshida, IKF, and Durbin). We will be average again at best.
  4. Campbell got paid for how he looked (6'3") for 30 games. Isn't the team doing the same with Mayer (6'3") at this point?
  5. Suarez of last year with the homers, yes. Pre injury Bregman was really good. He never fully recovered after missing 40 plus games. I don't think a Durbin/IKF mix is even a comparison.
  6. That should get him benched. No more watching home runs: It's narcissistic. When God knocks it back into the playing field you suddenly are a loser.
  7. The team has many question marks and unproven "talent" to show me they will do better in 2026 than 2025. Will the team be injury plagued again (we had only 3 players play in 119 or more games last year - in contrast the Blue Jays had 8 players, the Yankees 9 players). 83-79 or 79-83. It's always been a grind.
  8. Nolan Ryan wasn't oft injured throughout his career and if he was, he'd pitch right through it. Now there is simply too much guaranteed money.. Baseball should be more like football, getting rid of the guarantees.
  9. This guy makes Dustin Pedroia look like a giant (listed at 5'7"). Maybe 2nd base? Hopefully he keeps hitting.
  10. Another meaningless signing by Breslow. IKF is an okay hitter, but lacks power and speed. He may not help us lose games, but he's not going to help us win games. This Red Sox team has no proven power.
  11. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mlb.com/amp/news/bo-bichette-deal-with-mets.html
  12. Crazy money for Tucker. Another true pull hitter (he'll do well in LA, would have done better in Yankee Stadium with the short perch, not so good in Fenway). I think Bregman's move to Wrigley will limit his power numbers.
  13. Do we even have a plan? It doesn't seem like it. Hoerner plays second and is going nowhere. Shaw is replaceable at 3rd
  14. What's the hope there? Supposedly Houck is out for 2026 (hoping for September). He'll be 30. Hopefully he will return to 2024 form and better. But we are paying him $4.1 million to sit and rehab. As for Casas, he's gonna be 26 In a week, is the signing to make him tradable? Can he return to 2023 form? With Contreras signed, what's his role, because I don't see another position he can play? We rightly signed Romy Gonzalez, as he can play 2nd or back up at 1st. 20 players are under contract. Bregman, Giolito, Wilson, Hendriks and Lowe are still available. Matz, May, Refsnyder, and Winckowski are gone.
  15. Pittsburgh seems have scored big in this trade. Not sure what's up with the Rays thinking. Lowe is a 30 homer 2Ber who is 31. He's a dead pull hitting lefty.
  16. Abreu can hit, get on base and play defense. He's out best proven outfielder. Trading him makes no sense.
  17. He was an adequate backup, better than some of the starters.
  18. Why not bring back Bregman and also sign Bichette? We need players that can hit, not players that may learn how to hit.
  19. This may be the dumbest intentional slight I have read on this message board and there are a lot of dumb ones. Home runs and RBIs don't lie. Contreras is effectively 34 years old. If he was still a catcher, okay maybe an upgrade at that position. Is he an upgrade over Casas at 1st base, yes (why was Casas not traded)? But he's at best, 2/3 of an Alonso. 24 hrs 7 seasons ago is his high.
  20. The problem with most of these lineups is first base. Casa blows. He needs to go.
