I guess they figured they'd rather have him pitch meaningful games while rested in Sept/Oct than to burn out early and maybe not be available for the postseason.
I think his biggest mistake was not maximizing the return on the expiring contracts such as eovaldi and jd (and bogey if you are not going to meet his contract demands)
To me he basically swapped hosmer and some middling prospects for vaz. Basically treading water.
Great job by Cashman as I have read that the dodgers are picking up $4M in gallo's salary as well.
I guess the dodgers are hoping for the "change of scenery" thing to kick in.
I went to a game in houston last September. They were playing the devil rays near the end of the season. Nice ballpark but one thing I found strange. There was only one sports bar in the area (Biggio's) and a semi upscale Italian place. Much different than the surroundings of most ballparks I have been to.
