I predict an offensive onslaught by the Red Sox reminiscent of the 17-1 whupping of the Orioles recently. Without that blow out their RS/RA differential of -19 would be worse . Tonight is the makeup of that deficit because the boo-birds will not be affecting the pstches of the young guys. -
I think this is the part that really is griping the fanbase. Making the WC last year was only an achievement in terms of the prior losing record seasons but the young players were in place with a little experience and the mound corps looked strong. Breslow started the ball rolling foul with failing to get a big bat or at least giving Bregman the keys to the Maybach for 5 years . No one would have appreciated it at the time except for AC. AC treated Spring Training like a walk in the park and failed to get the guys ready. It was apparent in the final 8-10 ST games, after WBC. The team then went on the road , won the opener and then promptly lost 5 and their way . The reality is that they followed up the initial 5 losses with a slightly sub .500 record for April and resumed in May to date. Turmoil in the clubhouse , Tracy is in an ultimate no win no respect up or down situation given the INTERIM label for a full season , a chaotic FO , and now the injury plague, often a result of a weak ST regime.

Didn't know Danny C. had a cervix but new surprises all the time with the walking wounded on the Sox. Sandoval is a true write off now. The lineup got an early Cinco de Mayo gift from Skubal's misfortune. Take advantage of it?? Who knows ?? -
And PH'ed a bloop single yesterday . But they are in injury prevention mode with masa in case someone wants to trade for him in July. Seriously hard to figure out if the FO has any clue what they are doing with the $18MM man.

Tracy was brought in because he knew a few of the guys, could commute to his house in Worcester saving per diem, and would be totally loyal since he has no security. A trifecta for CB and JH.

This game does tell you a lot. Sox in a total hitting struggle, at home, against a team with a 1/2 game worse record than them. Wait until Skubal gets them tomorrow Closing in a total wipeout of a season with this crew.

Mayer would be a better hitter if he stopped pulling off to the right side. No wonder he misses a number of swings. I don't care what Abreu's OPS HAS BEEN. Hit something now when it counts.

Durbin was sold as a Fenway wall banger. However, he is constantly jammed inside resulting in weak popups I would say sit him and play Eaton for now. s Every time with 2 on, the next batter K's to get the out count up, no advancing runners, no situational hitting.. Maybe Fatse and his guy were, in fact, awful coaches.

Suarez's entire effort goes down the drain to Weissert's ineptness or maybe it really is the sox lineup that truly sucks , leaving them in these 1-0, do or die positions for guys like Weissert to mess up.

You didn't solve the OF crowd by using it to upgrade another position, Duran's value is in the dumpster for now. You are burying Yoshida now, and consequently he isn't hitting anything anyway. . Your selection at 3B is barely pulsating at bat. Lineup and batting order flexibility may be a wonderful thing, but I wonder if you have a bunch of players wondering if they aren't all utility guys.

On a better note, Ranger Suarez who looked like a 5 year mistake in the wBC and his first few starts for Boston appears to have found his stride and should deliver a lot of effective innings. ready for the boston offensive explosion ? Never happens in the 1st inning.

Checking on Bolton's numbers, if the Red So9x can't hit him today, then all the concerns from the winter about needing bats will be realized after 32 games. The stats are not good.19th in BA, 26th in runs scored, 19th in hits, 29th in HRs, 26th in RBIs, 23rd in BBs, 29th in slugging, 23rd in OBP, , 28th in OPS. After 31 completed games, those results are not just a couple guys slumping, that is an unmitigated disaster of roster construction and preparation for the season.
