  1. Swihart screws Don
  2. Mattingly brings in a new reliever to stiff Swihart, but oh wait, Swi is a switch hitter ??, Who knew ?
  3. I think you have to PH for Leon
  4. Yankees left the bases loaded, but still only going to the top 6, so plenty of time. But for the red Sox to puke it up vs Miami while the White Sox have a shot is not allowed. Time to hit
  5. Getting bled by a 1000 paper cuts. Velazquez should not have started the inning, IMO, or get pulled after the first on base
  6. Last 45 AB's hitting about .210. At least it wasn't a DP.
  7. JD Martinez on the other hand is.
  8. Pearce is no answer in this lineup.
  9. Showed a lot of patience in that AB but wonder why he doesn't rip that inside medium fast ball
  10. While JBJr picked himself up very well and is in the upper .220's, Sandi has slipped now below .200 . His swing looks like his arms are made of lead, although his throwing to second is still good.
  11. Tell me which inning the "see ya" part will kick in so I can watch it. So far they are making Richards look like the second coming of Jalen Beeks. Squeaked one out last night and wishing/hoping tonight.
  12. HBP, WP, simple single equals a run, while Sox hitters still trying to find the key to Richards, except for Nunie and Mookie's shots
  13. mookie gets a much needed HR and has now hit 2 hard. Beni rolls over on an outside pitch and trots towards first.
  14. Guessing that Price is done
  15. Then gets hit back with a hard shot that has injury written all over it. Credit for recovering instantly and getting the out. Cora following him down the tunnel after a quick call to the BP. Sheer terror awaits.
  16. Infield big bouncer, double, and a bloop to right and suddenly the Sox are down 2 to the Marlins, then Price blows up the next batter with a shot to the arm. Struggling with Miami , shaking my head
  17. Like I said , give the Marlins what they want for Realmuto who also plays 1B
  18. Been a minor defender of Nunez for awhile because I think he's playing above his expectations. He rewards us with 2 HR's in 2 days. maybe Beni will get one soon too. Not holding breath.
  19. Just hope Price gets the same expanded strike zone that K'ed Pearce .
  20. Could Realmuto be pried out of Miami this winter ? Probably would take one of our catchers plus 2 prospects
  21. Been noticing the BP in general and Kimbrel in particular over the last month or more , mostly through pitch counts needed to get the required outs. It's not a primary metric, but it does indicate the efficiency of the guy throwing, his command/control, and his ability to come back the next day . If a starter consistently goes above 20 pitches per inning, he's likely to only get 4+ innings completed. A reliever doing the same is not likely to be available the next game. I see our guys getting 2 strikes on a hitter, followed by a flurry of foul balls followed by walks . I don't think most of our guys have a reliable out pitch to close the at bat, like Koji's splitter was. Kimbrel's high heater is usually too high above the zone to achieve its purpose. It's been said by others that our BP guys all throw the same stuff (95+ FB/ knuckle curve) Where is the vicious slider that routinely reduces our own hitters to swing and miss for strike 3.
  22. No real issue with Betts and Benintendi leading the way as usual, but it does remind of the old sea captain announcing to the crew that the floggings will continue until morale improves. In Mookie and Beni's case, the batting will continue until the results improve. Maybe a breakout game tonight.
  23. It is very hard to figure how Beni is hitting .282/.763 since the A-S break, and yet only generate 1 HR in 131 AB's. His 18 rbi's are generally consistent with other Sox hitters , except for JDM who has 30. JDM has finally passed the slumping Betts in BA to be the Red Sox triple crown leader right now.
  24. If that's the Ted Hendrick's guy, no. But probably 3 or 4 others are mine so I can get a consensus opinion, lol
  25. Brian Johnson, with limited skills at the MLB level, gets 13 outs on 73 pitches, with 1 run allowed, 5 hits and 1 walk. Barnes , Hembree, and Kimbrel combine to get 6 outs on 64 pitches, with 7 hits , 6 runs ( 2HRs) and 3 walks. Now who gets the win ?? Kimbrel who is now 4-1, the super saver of all time. Not crying for Johnson, who Cora routinely pulls before he qualifies for a win, but to point out how much more valuable Brian Johnson is to winning than the three stooges in the bullpen.
