  1. In unrelated news, Clay Buchholz is now 5-1 with a 2.68 ERA for the Diamondbacks . It is not beyond a mathematical possibility of facing Clay B in a WS game. Not a high probability but but still floating out there.
  2. Very true. The Sox need to be 4 up or more when that last 3 game series starts in Fenway in September. I'm sure most all know the 1978 debacle, leading by 14+ in mid August only to have Dent meet Mike Torres in a one game playoff . Still can't accept that Yaz fouled out to end that one with a runner on. Then there was '48 vs the Guardians, '49 vs the Yankees , '67 Cardinals, '75 Reds, '86 Mets all one game or 7th game losses before the miracle ALCS and WS of 2004, followed by '07 and '13. You can never be too far ahead until they hand you the trophy.
  3. A really nice 32 pitch non-save by a guy who is hard to understand
  4. When he goes south, he doesn't stop til he passes Miami. No command
  5. Kimbrel does get rattlled and blows up his command, not the first time
  6. Gotta love it when Gardner gets shafted
  7. Not one pitch really in the strike zone to Moreland, but had to work for the walk
  8. You think he won't give up a run to get it back to 3 ?
  9. Note the energy and intensity with Sale, Eovaldi and Porcello. Who does it remind you of ?.....Not Drew P. Maybe Price can get there tomorrow.
  10. Maybe not , only because he was getting caught up in it and overthrowing a bit there. save the arm. Give Kimbrel a shot at the save
  11. That's a good line, unfortunately accurate. Jackie needs just a bit more power to get it up and out.
  12. August 2, 3,4th ---screwing the Yankees at every opportunity
  13. Lucky Leon, after hits by Holt and Nunez which rarely happens. Big help towards the win
  14. We have been treated to back to back pitching dominance not seen since Chris Sale went on the DL. Leaving Stanton's lead off double on 2nd was priceless. But he will bat again Batters need to help push this one beyond the 4 run stage.
  15. Nate still throwing 98. Get one more out and you're a Yankee baiting hero.
  16. Really bad inning at bat. Hitters are taking this pitching for granted or just not much interested.
  17. About 60, leads to the question as to how far to go. Next inning will be the key to get past NYY middle lineup , hopefully for the last time.
  18. The late July-August wear down showing that history is a precursor to future performance. Swihart's loss even for 10 days is not helping.
  19. 3 hits against a rookie starter. Good thing two of them are still flying. Eovaldi is giving them a great chance for the third win, setting Price up for the sweep.....
  20. looked pretty good on that last play
  21. Is Holt ready to grab his hammy again??
  22. Adams getting antsy after seeing JDM's long fly
  23. Yeah, JDM leading the parade in an HR season
  24. Eovaldi is being super efficient at 38 pitches and 2 DP's have kept things calm. Getting Stanton quick after Gardner was a good idea. But, still looking for hitters against a first time starter
  25. How do you get 3 innings on 33 pitches ? Throw good strikes like Eovaldi. Or play the Yankees on a Saturday afternoon with Devers, Swihart, Kinsler , Sale , Erod on the DL and Pedroia just moved to the 60 day DL make room on the bench. Still need some consecutive hits here on Adams.
